I love this place ... mostly because I love my stylist. Full disclosure: I've been seeing the same stylist for years and years, and followed her to Arona. She's gotten me through bangs, proms, and now coloring out the grays, and has been fantastic forever. I always make an appointment, but I know they take walk-ins too (perfect if you're new and want to try out a new stylist). I get a color, cut, and style for $105 (before tip) - not bad at all. They also have a separate room for waxing, and I seriously have gotten the BEST eyebrow waxing jobs here. (I've had bad experiences with eyebrow waxing, but these ladies are awesome.) Everyone in here is so friendly and chatty, and I've always had excellent service from every person I encounter here. Very clean, smells great (you know what I mean - those salons that smell like burned and processing hair? gross), bright and friendly atmosphere. Love it! read more

I love Arona Hair Salon... well wait.... Yes the salon is nice, but what I love is my stylist CHERYL. I have been going to her since she worked at another salon in Braintree...and I followed her when she moved. She knows what I want, she listens to me and I never come out of there unhappy with a cut or color. I think her prices are reasonable too... :) The salon is nice, they have a nice set up and the receptionist is really friendly. They also sell Jewlery which I usually end up buying something when I am there.... lol What I like about it is they are so nice and do a great job...it is kinda like visiting friends. I love this place! I moved to the Boston area back in February and have been searching for a great salon to get my hair cut. I got a hair cut and an eyebrow wax and was impressed with both. The prices are also very reasonable- about $45 for a cut and flat iron and $15 for an eyebrow wax. I called on a Friday morning and they were able to fit my in that afternoon, talk about great service! I will definitely be going back to Arona for all of my hair/ waxing needs. read more

Well, I have to say while I feel badly writing a negative review of this place, my wallet is compelling me to. I visited Arona this past Saturday for an updo for a close friend's wedding that evening. I called a week in advance and explained that this was going to be my first time at this place and that I had stumbled across them from reading favorable reviews on Yelp. The receptionist on the phone was super nice and enthusiastic, so much so that I thought I was making an appointment with the owner ("Oh, she is fabulous! She'll do a great job!"). Fast forward to my appointment, which I was duly excited & nervous about -- I brought a few photos of what I had in mind, and was hoping this particular stylist would be able to work some magic on my shoulder-length hair (read not short, but not long). My hair is pretty pliable, as I've been told, not unruly and will withstand a curling iron etc, so it can hold a lot of different hairstyles. After about a 15 minute wait, which can be expected, my stylist greeted me warmly and we discussed what I had in mind. She was open to the task and got to work. I will say that personality-wise this stylist was great, personable and not overly chatty while not overly silent. We had a good rapport and things started off on the right foot. Unfortunately, however, our conversation was the only pleasant part of my visit. This updo was secured with what felt like at least 50 bobby pins and during the ride home from the salon, it started to fall out. While I understand that stylists can't replicate photos EXACTLY, what was done to my hair and what I had pictures of looked vastly differently. Did I ask the stylists to re-do what she had done? No. Is that my own fault? Probably. However, given the way she had handled my hair during our 40 minutes together, I could tell that a re-do would have taken a lot longer and, frankly, I wasn't completely confident that she could do better than what she already had. Let's just say this hair-do ended up looking like a messy bun at the back of my neck. According to the website, an updo costs $65 and up. As I mentioned, my hair is shoulder-length, I mistakenly assumed that I fell into the $65 category. Wrong. When I checked out I presented a $10 off coupon. My total = $60, i.e. they decided to charge me $70 for my hair. When I arrived home, my husband and mother-in-law described the look as "sloppy" followed by "You paid for that?!" Sadly, I don't think I'll ever go back there. read more

I discovered Arona through Yelp and knew I had to come back and write a review as well. I've bounced around so many salons on the south shore & in Boston. I've always been at least satisfied with my cut, but never fully in love with the whole experience. Arona and specifically my stylist Jen has been my best salon experience to date. I brought in a picture of the cut I wanted and knew it may be difficult to achieve as I'm growing out a graduated bob. Jen did a great job of listening to exactly what I wanted and got to work on an awesome cut that fits me perfectly. She was friendly and chatty throughout as were the rest of the staff. The salon is small, but extremely comfortable. The price is extremely reasonable and the hours convenient. I definitely recommend booking a visit. read more

I had my roots touched up and highlights. My roots could have been lifted some more, they are still kind of dark in the front. I went here because they had an opening on a Saturday. My highlights look okay as well, they do not stand out as much as I would have liked. They do give first time customers 10$ off which is nice. It is a little expensive....half foil highlights and a root touch up is close to $110 (and this is w/o a blow dry). The salon I normally use is cheaper than this. read more

I finally found a great stylist who actually cares about what I want. It took a lot of bouncing around. I used to get the same generic haircut, even when I asked for something completely different. I see Shannon and she rocks! Let's face it, a good haircut isn't $20, so the pricing here is very fair, if you ask me! Front staff is awesome, too! read more

Two stars instead of one because I can't say I HATE my haircut, it just was not at all what I asked for. As a first time client, I went in with a specific picture and further described what I wanted and instead left with exactly what I had before but a few inches shorter. Everyone was really nice and my stylist, Cindy, was very nice and easy to talk to. The price would have been fine if I had actually got what I asked for. I should return to have her or someone else fix it but I'd rather pay another salon than deal with the awkwardness of that. Unfortunately I won't be going back. read more

Man I meant to review this place a long time ago and got beat to the punch. I love this place, everyone is super friendly from the front desk in. I get the best color there and I LOVE my stylist. The only minus is the parking can be a bit tight at times but you can park on the other side of the building so it's no biggie. read more

I had a very good experience here after purchasing a living social deal. Gina did a great job matching my "bottle job" color and adding highlights to my hair. She cleaned up my haircut and really made me feel "pretty" again. Lol I also had my eyebrows waxed while there, which also came out great! Gina is a jack of all trades! WOW! I actually found this place on Yelp and thought I'd give it a try since my husband is sick of me moaning about bad haircuts at cheap places. The atmosphere is warm and soothing, no loud music so it's relaxing. Jenn listened to what I wanted, and I left with the exact haircut I've always imagined and a load of confidence. Who would have thought you could get the haircut you ask for? Prices are reasonable and I would probably pay twice what it cost. What a fantastic find!!!! Regardless of your hair type, if you are looking for an affordable, comfortable, and super friendly salon, try Arona. I am a new customer at Arona. I followed my colorist there and I love it! When you are a blonde that is tough since there is so many different types of blonde. The staff couldn't be friendlier and willing to help! Upon my first visit they called to make sure I was finding it okay!
