Failed Inspection, Poor Communication, and No Accountability…read more I would caution anyone considering Advanced Electrical Services based on my experience. Scheduling with this company was incredibly frustrating. Communication was poor, and I repeatedly had to follow up just to confirm whether their technician was actually coming. The bigger issue? The electrical installation failed inspection, and I was subsequently quoted an additional $1,100-$1,300 to correct the issues. This was especially concerning because their company had performed the original electrical work. When I questioned why I should have to pay more to fix something that should have been installed correctly in the first place, they claimed their original work had passed inspection approximately five years earlier. I repeatedly asked them to provide the original inspection report to substantiate that claim. Despite multiple requests, they never provided any documentation. I also tried to give them the opportunity to explain the discrepancies, clarify what had gone wrong, and work toward a reasonable resolution. Instead, they stopped responding entirely. What bothers me most isn't just the additional expense. It's the lack of accountability, transparency, and customer service when a legitimate concern was raised. My advice: Get everything in writing, request copies of permits and inspection approvals, and don't assume that work was properly inspected just because a contractor tells you it was. I gave this company multiple opportunities to resolve the situation privately before sharing my experience. Unfortunately, they chose not to respond. I would not recommend them.

I usually have great luck finding home service pros on Yelp but unfortunately my experience with…read moreAlex & Alex electrical was disappointing. Scheduling with them initially was a little confusing - first we were messaging through Yelp, then text, then they sent me to their website. They were communicative but I never knew which channel to reach out to first. They did come out quickly which was appreciated. The first two gentleman that came to replace my fan and fix my ceiling light were not great. They would look at something, and then disappear and call someone and be on the phone with someone while they were looking at the fan or light fixture, almost like they were calling someone and asking them what they should do. Shouldn't they know? They were at my house for HOURS. WAY longer than I think they should have been. They would just look at the light fixture and talk to each other for like 5 minutes, then step out to make a phone call, then come back and start working on it. Over and over and over. They took a brand new fan out of the box and replaced it, but it wobbled like crazy (turns out they just didn't put the fan together really well because the second guys that came back made it much better). When they replaced my dimmer switch and celiing light, it looked AWFUL. Wasn't flush to the ceiling at all. They told me just to patch it, but this clearly needed more than a patch! I couldn't believe they just left it like that. I called and told them I was unhappy with their work, and they offered to come back and fix it. The second guys that came back were in and out so fast. They fixed the light and it looks perfect, just as it should. Clearly the first guys that came out had no idea what they were doing. Disappointed to have had a less than stellar experience, considering how highly reviewed they are. It must depend on what service folks you have come out to actually do the work.

We moved into a house that was flipped and not so lovingly remodelled!…read more Nishan and his team have been a dependable source of support over the past 5 years with our electrical challenges. Recently we called him to replace a finicky GFCI outlet. Without being asked, he took the initiative to reorganize and label the order of the outlets, and align them with the location of the appliances. I hadn't even really appreciated that the original set-up was flipped, which meant that the wires were always overlapping and messy. It was a small adjustment, but it reminded me of the extra care and thoughtfulness Nishan always brings to his work. I will continue to rely on Nishan and his team because in addition always being pleasant and respectful, their pricing is fair and competitive.

One day, none of the lights or outlets in my bedroom stopped working. I checked the panel, and none…read moreof the circuit breakers had flipped. I tried flipping everything off and on again -- no dice. East West came by the next day and diagnosed the problem methodically and carefully. They went through the bedroom first to establish the state of the electrical load and got a hot ground reverse reading. Look that up if, like me, you don't know what it means. Then they went through all the circuit breakers in my main panel and subpanel to establish which circuit the room was on. They found it on a circuit that, frankly, surprised me, because it also had some other unrelated rooms on it. At this point, they suspected some miswiring between the panels that had occurred when our solar system was installed. A couple times during this process, they also went into the overhead crawlspace to trace the circuit physically. During the second trip up there, we stumbled onto an epiphany: "CJ, there's a wire heading into your garage up here. What's over there?" "Oh, um... there's another panel in there that I forgot to tell you about." "I think we should look at that." Turns out that the third panel had a loose wire in it that was causing the problem! During this process, they explained to me everything they were seeing and considering. I learned a lot about circuits and amperage. At the end, they cleaned up after themselves, suggested I repaint my overhead access with oil-based paint to make it easier to wipe down, and charged me a fair price. The whole experience was educational, transparent, and smooth. Thank you, East West!

When i pulled the panel…read morecover off, intending to replace a few breakers myself, there was an arc from the panel, at which point I decided this needed professional help. Sean came by to give me an inspection and an estimate, but while pushing the breakers back in so at least my fridge would run, there was another arc, and a glob of molten aluminum dropped down from the meter. At that point it moved on from estimate to immediate repair. He disconnected everything, went out and bought an all-new panel and breakers and re-fitted the new buss bar and connections into the existing box. The fact that I'm writing this now shows he was successful; everything is back up and better than new, at a price I figured would be double what it was. I knew I could trust Sean when I saw he was also left-handed, and he did not disappoint.

I had an emergency situation that ultimately called for a full panel upgrade. We scheduled a visit…read moreto check out the problem the next day, which was not an emergency inspection or anything. He came to check out the problem and give me a quote. Overall, he was thorough in explaining stuff. What rubbed me the wrong way was how after I asked him for a quote and told him I have one other person checking it out to give me a quote, his tone changed. I explained that this is an expensive project and it would be dumb to just get your price and go with it without checking with at least one other company. I'm not made out of money here. He then gave me the quote and it was literally like twice the range of most panel upgrades. I get that you're licensed, but so are most of these companies. I feel like because of my situation (Edison had cut the power to my place), he was just taking advantage. Admittedly, I was desperate to get it fixed, but I'm not going to pay almost 12k for something that costs around 5k. So he gives me the quote breakdown and four options (all way over average prices), and then I say thanks and that again, someone is also going to stop by and take a look and I'll text him either way. He then gave me a guilt trip about how they reserved the day for me and how it sucks that I'm not just taking the job. At that point, even if the second guy wasn't going to work out, I was not going with this company. Fortunately, the second guy (also licensed) that came was able to pull some strings and get everything done --meter checked, permitted--the next day for a fraction of what Ready Electric quoted me. Power is back on and I didn't spend more than I needed to. For those of you needing electric work: shop around. Oftentimes we need this kind of work done ASAP, but companies will definitely take advantage as was this case. 3 stars because they responded quick and did explain things thoroughly. Clarification based on Ready Electric's reply: The quote was $11,600 for a standard panel upgrade. Yes, my panel was in bad shape, but I was not misrepresenting the situation. If anything, to suggest that your most affordable option was $1k when it was really (according to you) not really an option at all (with zero warranty even) and to leave out your main recommendation (the panel upgrade) is misrepresentative. I credit you for going out of your way and explaining stuff, and I would imagine that as a business, that part of the getting business is time-consuming. Apparently there was an inspection fee that was waived, and the gentlemen that came even asked, "how did you get the inspection fee waived?" Well, no fee was ever mentioned upon calling and making an appointment, and had there been, I would have never made the appointment in the first place. You mentioned that you understand people would get a second opinion and that's good; however, the whole reason I wrote my review (which I rarely do) was because of the guilt trip I was given for doing so. It was unnecessary and a poor persuasion technique. If I were to have said I have another guy coming to get a second opinion and you were like, "absolutely, just let us know if you decide to move forward with us," I would have never wrote my review, or I would've written one that praised the thoroughness of your quoting process. Also, the guy I went with was a referral from my brother's current contractor, but he has never worked with any of us directly. So we didn't have an existing relationship or anything. In fact, when I told him what i was quoted, he laughed and said that's just people trying to take advantage. Again, the point of my review was ultimately to warn people to shop around and not go with the first quote you get, especially if you're in a pinch like I was. Another day without electricity is worth not getting ripped off.

I called Marat, told him I wanted a 200 electrical panel, and he was able to quote me with an excellent price by seeing a picture via text of the existing electrical panel. Given that it was my first time buying a home and not knowing anything about permits and the procedure, Marat walked me through it. He advised that I needed to call LADWP to schedule an appointment with a tech who would mark the spot of the new meter. He then said once there is a meter spot, Marat will get to work --and he did immediately after I got the meter spot. In fact, Marat was there the next day! He worked on the panel for a couple of days, along with his son, and once he installed it, he took care of scheduling the appointment with LADBS. Since I saw how excellent Marat was as an electrician, I also had him install recess lighting in the living room, hallway, family room, and kitchen (amazing job) . I had him install 5 hardwired POE cameras throughout my house. And I also had him check all my GFCI outlets throughout the house and had him replace the ones not working. Marat is not only the ultimate professional who excels at his craft, but he is also very nice and easy going. I highly recommend him for any electrical job.
