He offered anchovies for our salads but didn't mention the $8 salad upgrade charge and the $4 anchovy charge. He offered truffle butter, but didn't mention the $6 upgrade charge. No big deal, but some really deceptive nickle and diming. $39 for a serving of fish fillet and chicken breast is probably enough without hawking unwanted luxuries as if they are included. read more

I love going to the Sand Lake FishBones for special occasions, but with it currently closed I decided to take the 45 minute trek to Lake Mary to try this one out. Wow. What a difference! The Sand Lake location is good, but at its core a tourist restaurant. This feels like more of a "locals" higher end place. I really like that they are taking safety seriously and on the reservation call back go over their requirements including masks. The mini hand sanitizer when we are seated was a nice touch and the restaurant was impeccably clean. Service was as good as we have come to expect from other Talk of the Town restaurants - possibly even a little better. Our entrees were tasty and cooked perfectly and refills of our drinks were incredibly fast. Overall a wonderful experience! We dined at FishBones one evening last week. We went with friends during happy hour on a week night and so glad we did. Mr. O had a salad with extra blue cheese and escargot. He said that both were very good! He loved his margarita but wished it had been frozen. Our friends and I all had cocktails and the Dang Bang shrimp. Words can't express how beautiful our experience was. We were celebrating our 14 year anniversary and we didn't make any plans so last minute we decided to go get dinner and Fish Bones it was. Well it was an experience, we didn't have a reservation so it was a little awkward for us. So let me just say they made us feel like we did have a reservation they were swamped but managed to get us a table for 2 and an amazing server name Dia. It was the best last minute idea we have ever had. She made us her priority and treated us so nice. Her recommendations were right on target delicious and leaving me speechless which is hard to do. Had my Fathers Birthday dinner here and a work celebration for me; it was incredible and worth every penny! We enjoyed the dang bang shrimp which was very tasty. 2 filets- they were ok. I think the kitchen smokes the steaks because they had a very distinct smoky flavor. The patio is spacious and has a nice breeze. They also had live music at 6pm on Saturdays. My bf and I arrived a little before 5pm on a Saturday and were seated right away. Staff was plentiful and friendly. We ordered off the happy hour menu and enjoyed all of our dishes. The sushi was tasty and fresh, I highly recommend the lady dragon roll. The blackened scallops were delicious and a really big serving for the price. All staff wore masks and they had individual hand sanitizers on the table. I had a Chef's combo, not only is it one of the less expensive things on the menu, but it came with more food than I could eat. I had a pork chop and trigger fish. The pork chop was huge, and grilled perfect and the fish also really good. My wife had the fish special it was the same fish I had with crab on top for more than my dish. My nephew has food allergies and they were on point to make sure they kept him safe. He ate all of his steak, and the side of peeled cucumbers he gets everywhere. Good place to go for an adult night out. I love stone crab and they usually have it, but did not for mother's day so I had the king crab instead. It is expensive, at $95 for a pound, but it is delicious. They serve it hot. I think the stone crab is $75 a lb. and it is chilled. Happy hour is an experience here! Among all the happy hours I've ever attended, this one blows the rest out of the water. Service is incredible and the outside seating area has a nice ambience that can't really be beat. The drinks - Prosecco, top shelf liquor, and craft beers on special- make this great for a group because it has something for everyone. We ordered several sushi rolls, bang bang shrimp, oysters, and salad at an incredible price considering the quality of the seafood and the portion sizes. Hungry for more, we ventured in to order off of the dinner menu after happy hour ended, and the lobster Mac and cheese was soooo memorable. I'm going to try to keep it short and to the point because I really can't think right now since I'm having a sodium overdose from this food. The food was consistently terrible.... The premium $55 steak we ordered was "aged" 4 weeks and was supposed to be amazing. It was clearly purchased off Amazon and shipped from Wuhan, China because I've literally had better tasting steak at Applebee's. This rubbery piece of roadkill that was severed to my wife and I should of made the 6 o'clock news. I didn't even dare to bring the entire left over steak (dried possum) home for my dog, who would of slapped me across the face the minute he bit into it. The recommended $19 cauliflower side looked like an over cooked brain and tasted like a sponge with salt on it. Everything has 7 lbs of salt on it. I left the restaurant on a stretcher because my blood pressure was 700/473. The food took so long that we had no choice but to DoorDash food to the table while we waited for them decide how they would pass the dead possum as steak. Literally took 1 full hour for me to receive my disappointment. The beer was flat and warm. How do you mess this up??? Literally the best part of the entire experience was that I truly appreciated my wife's cooking that much more than this insult to mankind. The cook should be sentenced to life without parole for his role in this disaster. And to neatly place the cherry on top, you would of thought I was making my car note payment. $350!!! I literally would of rather sat down and ate at McDonald's and watched a meth head take their teeth out to eat a McMuffin than pay $350 ever again and visit this place. It somehow managed to be very upscale without being pretentious, which was so refreshing. Everyone greeted our party of four, I think one was the manager, at least he was very dressed up, so assuming he was. The wait staff was very professional plus friendly, which is so much better than having a stuffed shirt. The food was superb! We had 3 appetizers to share. I had kind of gotten to where I didn't like calamari anymore, but there's was perfectly cooked and brought me back as a fan. The assortment of roasted peppers in top was a nice addition. The bang bang shrimp were great, although a smaller portion compared to the calamari. The escargots were great. Although I would recommend softer toast to be able to sop up the butter and garlic sauce. Our entrees were stone crab claws, shrimp scampi, one of the chef's combos and fish, but I forgot exactly which he ordered. Veggies were a la cartel and we got some garlic mashed potatoes we did not need, as portions were large. We had made all the appetizers disappear, so everyone had take home. The shrimp scampi also had large scallops and lump crabmeat, so delicious! For my combo, I got the fried butterflies shrimp and the best salmon I have ever had! Fish Bones takes Pride in theirs. It is advertised on the building. It has its place a number of ways in the menu. This is the only item on their menu I wanted. Being I can only eat certain items I choose this place and time for a certain specialty I assumed would be available. It wasn't available because Fish Bones ran out. Needless to say I did not have dinner. I did have a quarter pound Nathan's Hot Dog when I returned home. I gave it 5 Stars. The reason for Fish Bones 4 Stars. All and All. The manager also stopped by a couple times throughout the meal to ensure that we were having a great experience.
