He built out a full basement for us which included bedroom, bathroom, laundry room, utility room, closets and even a real cedar closet with actual cedar planks including the ceiling. He has replaced every window in the house with Andersen windows and even added French doors, sliding doors and a box window. He changed every door in the house to solid six panel doors and assisted in the family room and office built in by installing them. He build the most incredible custom walk in closet converting a bedroom into a spectacular use of space. He has renovated 3 bathrooms and kept them updated as needed most recently replacing a honed marble threshold in the shower and reinstalling the custom glass doors. The most recent improvement was the replacement of our gas water heaters since the old ones were starting to leak. He not only upgraded what we had, had the new ones delivered and installed all in one day in order to get us back up and running with little inconvenience. He has installed whole house water filtration, added instant hot and a garbage disposal making sure we have all the modern conveniences a home should have. He treats our home as if it is his own. Tony and the Functional Spaces team worked with me to completely gut and renovate an entire house…read more We removed and installed new walls, steel beams were installed, 3 complete bathroom were redone, a full kitchen renovation, a bedroom was turned into the main walk in closet with custom built ins, new AC, new heated engineered wood floors, a full redo of the electrical system and lighting plan for the entire house, new staircase, windows and siding plus so much more was done to make this home stunning! The team worked seamlessly with the architect and the inspectors to make sure the permits were all in place. Tony was a pleasure to work with from start to finish. He was patient in answering my numerous questions and concerns along the way. Gus (the main carpenter) was incredible in installing custom built in shelves in various areas. He is a true artist!! My only major complaint is the quality of the tile work which has become a frustrating nightmare. To their credit they made several attempts to fix the tiles as they kept coming up; ~3-4 times. It's been a few months since they last came to regrout some loose tiles, but I have given up having them come and regrout as basically every tile is loose. I know they ended up replacing some of the subfloor that was damaged during the demo, so my only guess at this point is the subfloor repair/patch was uneven/unlevel ... idk what else would explain the tiles coming loose so easily and often. I really liked them and was excited to find a trustworthy contractor as I wanted to update my bathrooms next, but I would not recommend for tile work, which is disappointing.

In the bathroom, they handled the installation of new tile floor, reglazing of the tub and all tiled walls, tiling the top half of the shower, replacing the vanity with a pedestal sink, swapping out the medicine cabinet, installing grab bars, replacing the shower head, repairing broken tiles, and patching the wall for the new shower head line. Every detail was done with care. They also extended my bedroom wall three feet, which involved wall demolition, repairing and painting walls, installing new doors and new baseboards, and overseeing the repair and refinishing of the hardwood floor. The finished result is amazing! What stood out beyond the quality of the work were partnering with Jeff and his son Uke. They are friendly, responsive, and move quickly.
