First time was okay, second was decent so I came back a third time. Waited a hour and 30 Minutes which is fine. However, took our waitress 17 mins to greet us and we then insisted she took our food order with drinks ( afraid it would take another 30, almost 2 hours in). She took our orders, food took maybe 35 mins ( was busy, so that's fine.) Our food was delivered by a different server. About half way in our meal, no one checked on us at all! We needed napkins and water but had to wait, when we finally got the water... THE GLASSES WERE FRESH OUT THE DISHWASHER, still wet and unpolished. Server gave us the cups piled into each other and left... still no napkin. She also left our check at this half way point, we didn't ask for our check and we weren't finish eating. The second time I had a better experience but I'm not expecting fine dining service, but I am expecting decent service with clean water glasses. Horrible service at this place. Most people working in there don't know watt they doing They need a real manager there. My third time there to give another change. We got there 11am to enjoy breakfast and was just a few people in there waiting, so We give name And wait, a few minutes later some people started to complain that they been there for an hour and they never called them and mean time some other people walking at the door arriving and they were seated right away. Then I discover if you give your name on the app we get fast service than the people waiting for an hour. Not good. After a few attempts to talk to this dummy girl when my name on a list she keeps telling me it goes by time arrival and people showed up from nowhere and keep passing and get a table. Another attempt asking why was 4 tables empty for more than 20 minutes and she was not calling anyone and again you have to wait. Those tables probably are for those who booked tru the app. Again not fair We left after 35 min waiting and they sent a message 50 minutes after that our table was ready. First time we got there no waiting and still 4 to 6 minutes before anyone came to take us to the table. Another 5 to 7 minutes to get drinks and food showed up 20 min later. Second time I was with my daughter was was almost 2 pm seems like service was a bit better and no one waiting and a few tables empty. I found First Watch while working at the Vauxhall laundromat, it was an early morning and I was looking for great breakfast options. There rating was high and the food was more than eye appealing. I ordered a breakfast entree with a coffee and a drink called Morning sunrise I was hooked. I probably ordered twice a week for two months. As soon as I had access to drive I took my Daughter for breakfast . First thought on walk in was ok trying to follow the trend of being healthier and eco-conscious. We sat and read the menu. It's a small menu which for a new place in my opinion is good. We order coffee and you get a small carafe to yourself which you would think it was good but honesty the coffee is so light and has no flavor at all. Good for non coffee drinkers but very bad for actual coffee drinkers. We finally decided and ordered our food and the wait was extremely long so long apparently for others as well as another table by the window full of people actually asked for containers when their food came out. They looked like they were on a lunch break and the food took so long they had no choice but to take it with them. We debated cancel our order but decided we had nothing better to do. Well ours took forever as well. My food arrived cold and my mother in laws was ok but what she ordered shouldn't really be hot anyway. I attempted to eat mine but my potatoes and cheese were so cold and burnt that it was like chiseling away at it. I gave up and ate my toast. My avocado was even brown. My grits were the only thing extremely hot and probably because they forgot to make them and held off the rest of our food for them. I ordered the farmhouse skillet. My mother in law ordered the salmon taziki toast. The taziki was watery and the salmon is prepackaged and just slapped on the toast. Nothing special nor worth the $12. Neither of us could figure out what took so long other then they forgot stuff. I was going to take it as dog food but they ended up taken our check back and not letting us pay so I left it there for them. The waitress was very apologetic but it was just too much and even tho we didn't pay it didn't take back the fact that we were still hungry wasted 1 1/2 hours of our life all to be annoyed. On top of all this I think the worst and most impactful thing was the manager themself couldn't even make an appearance and apologize to us he let the poor minimum wage waitress handle the issue herself. That to me is the most important issue and reason I will NEVER be back. The owner and manager are not in any position or right mind to have a restaurant or be in any customer service type of business. We love brunch and think that NJ is woefully thin on non-diner brunch options. So we were excited to see this place and checked it out last weekend. We were pleased that the wait was 10-15 mins around noon on a Sunday. They also have a text system for waiting, which will be especially appreciated when it gets cold and everyone tries to cram into the waiting area up front. Instead, you can remain comfy and warm in your car while you wait for the text. I had to eventually make a serious effort to get the hostess's attention to put our name on the wait list. Though she stared right at me, she never acknowledged me. To her credit, she apologized, explaining that she'd thought I'd been with the lady in front of me, a mistake that seems to only be made with people of color standing in line consecutively but whatever... - she apologized and it was fine. We were seated after about 15 minutes. Decor is nice, tables not too close together. However it took about 10 mins before a server even said anything to us. He introduced himself and told us he'd be back take drink orders. Add another 5 mins. Long story short, service was sloooow. We ordered drinks but it took so long to get them that they came out just seconds before the food. And we never got water. The menu is very enticing with lots of good healthy options. I love that egg white substitutions come at no extra cost and greens are the default side. The food came out in an acceptable time - once we got a chance to actually order. I felt like our server was new to the table waiting profession, as he only had 4 tables but didn't seem to be managing time well. For example, he didn't seem to tend to other tasks while he waited for items. All in all, the food was good enough for us to return but we're hoping that the service improves. Do not order from this place on Uber eats. Only dine inside the restaurant. For the price of the food and the cost of delivery and service, why the hell is my order always missing stuff that's included? You're not allowed to add order notes so you're just out of luck. But this is the second time I ordered a breakfast that comes with fruit and it didn't come with it. They gave me French toast without the compote that it comes with, which was my reason for ordering. They don't call you or tell you nothing if items are missing. I've been here on two separate occasions and quite honestly based on both times, I don't see myself going back. The first time was a Saturday, so it was busy, not really busy since there wasn't a wait time for the tables, but busy enough that almost all the tables were full. I liked that upon ordering coffee my husband and I were given a carafe so we could refill when needed. I especially liked the carafe, because the food took close to 30 mins to get to the table. Food wait, well the wait was well over 30 mins for food. Not once did the server gives us the "it'll be out shortly" bit. Again thankful for the carafe of coffee because it's what kept me going waiting for my meal. Honestly the worst First Watch I've ever dined in. When the waitress first took our order, she didn't even bother writing it down, thinking she can remember it... only to ask us later on again what we wanted to order. She also included a lemon in our water glasses, prompting us to ask for another glass without lemon; not even giving us a pitcher of water like every other First Watch location does. When we finally received our food, they forgot the syrup for my pancakes and my toast to go with my ham & gruyere omelette. Though my biggest complaint with this location is that they lied to me about the cheese they used in my omelette. When I noticed the cheese looked and tasted really different from the several other times I ordered this omelette, the manager himself tried telling me that I'm mistaken and said gruyere cheese turns orange when it melts, when that is simply not true. Him being in disbelief and blowing off my concern really bothered me the most out of my entire experience at this location. When the manager is lying to you just so they don't need to remake your food, you know your experience is going to suck. They also tried charging me twice when they replaced my omelette, which I had to point out when handed my receipt. One last detail to note is how some the staff dresses themselves. When one employee sat down at the booth in front of me, my girlfriend and I could completely see his butt crack giving us a horrendous view for a lengthy amount of time. We tried blocking it with the flyers and water glasses with lemon. The manager himself also doesn't seem to know how to wear pants properly, having his undergarments exposed in front. Personally, I regret dining into this establishment and I should've just drove further to the next one, but if you choose to dine here, I strongly encourage you to double check your receipt and be firm with the staff if your order does not seem right, because they will likely brush it off like they tried to do with me. read more

Restaurant is very trendy and has great selections for breakfast. Everyone was pleased with their meal. And the service was great as well. My family and I were very grateful to be seated relatively quickly, however if we had known we'd be waiting an hour+ for our food I would of preferred eating elsewhere. Especially since the food itself is extremely small portioned and on a nice day beyond average. With the amount of money they charge for 4 strips of bacon dipped in honey I'd like my waitress to come around at least more than once (not including handing us the bill). We absolutely love this new place. We're so glad they are in Union. The place has an open concept with plenty of room for large parties and a few tables outdoors. From the "Healthier Side" portion of the menu, their AM Superfood Bowl kept me fueled until late afternoon. The Avocado Toast that my wife had, had a picture perfect color. If you're looking for a place for breakfast, brunch or lunch, First Watch is a good choice. Lots of healthy choices (the Healthy Turkey is my current post workout breakfast favorite), innovative food combos and good healthy juice options. Service is generally prompt and courteous and getting for a table is usually not a problem, though one or two of the servers are definitely operating on a slow speed.
