Alright I must admit the promotional email got me, but how do I say no to a chimichurri steak and egg hash? That's right, I don't. I definitely came to eat with my eyes and after I ordered my hash (with extra chimichurri, eggs over easy) I also ordered some million dollar bacon and a biscuit with butter along with a pineapple drink to wash it all down! The hash is pretty potato heavy with a smaller portion of the steak but it all blends together nicely with the chimichurri and the eggs on top. It is very filling and the pickled sweet peppers pop nicely against the other umami flavors. The biscuit had a lovely crunch on the outside and was soft and crumbly on the inside, the butter was light and airy and just melted so nicely into the biscuit. The bacon was great with the hash as well but much more syrupy than I remembered. It did have a little kick to it which I also enjoyed with the hash The pineapple drink was refreshing, not too tart or sweet and pineapple heavy at the beginning but I could definitely taste the mint and the apple as well. I have visited this First Watch location in Lake Nona many times and it is always delicious! I love that they have a seasonal menu in addition to their normal menu and I normally like to try something from that. This morning I had the Cinnamon Chip Pancake Breakfast and it was SO yummy. I wish it was on the menu all of the time!! This location does get very busy on the weekends, but thankfully you can join the waitlist on-line before you head there. First Watch does breakfast and brunch so well! From the service to the amazing bacon, they put on a master class in casual dining. The atmosphere is welcoming, if a bit crowded. I love the fresh pressed juices and the seasonal menus. If I could change one thing it would just be to provide for more personal space. The tables are so close together that it feels claustrophobic. Food is consistently good at a First Watch and this location was no exception. I chose the Floridian French Toast. The fruit was seasonal, plentiful and delicious. The French toast was nicely eggy in the center with the edges a bit more done, which is just the way I like it. The Million $ Potatoes were cooked to crispy on the outside and soft centers, but then the cheese sauce made most of the lower potatoes softer on the outside. If you're a bacon person, you'll enjoy the bacon a lot. Outside of the food, I always enjoy the Morning Meditation juice (not pictured). The regular coffee is good, not bitter, and I enjoyed 3 cups black, without cream or sugar. Natalia, my server was pretty busy, but did a great job of checking on me and was very friendly. The ambiance here is definitely a step up from the greasy spoon diners that once were the norm for grabbing breakfast. The food is also a bit more varied than the offerings that were traditionally offered by those greasy spoon diners. They also have more healthy options. Rum and cold brew coffee in the morning was the perfect way to start my morning lol! The bananas foster french toast was very sweet, which was great cuz i love sweet breakfast! Our entire family loves First Watch, which is a big deal considering how picky everyone is. My faves are the avocado toast and pesto chicken quinoa bowl. The bowl is one of my favorite local dishes. I could eat it daily. The combination of ingredients is excellent, giving great flavors & leaving me always wanting more. My kids love the waffles, usually ordering from the adult menu because they always end up wanting more. There is usually a wait if you want to dine-in, but you can download their app and get on a virtual wait list. They offer to-go, which is how we've been ordering since the pandemic began. Food was I guess solid, but pretty expensive for what it is (as these wanna leave bougie lake Nona places are) but honestly they have the worst service I have ever seen at a bougie place. First, when I got there, there were open tables but they still had us wait 25 min. Then, a man came around giving everyone coffee, then only told us AFTER that they would charge us money for it! What?! Why act as if your coffee is complementary just to put it on the bill as a surprise after?! Good thing I asked after he had poured it, so instead of apologizing for that and the unnecessary wait they just took it away. Left a sour taste in my mouth that permeated through the rest of the meal. Would not come back, just go to keke's. At least this new brunch place will drew up the line there. Updated review: Went back today and they have vastly improved their service! Was happy to see social distancing being practiced at the restaurant and fast service being provided. That being said, the food here is still only worth it on a "treat yourself" day, as breakfast food is easy to make and without much, you could easily make everything they offer at home for a fraction of the price. Even eating brunch in California which is supposed to have a highest cost of living, is cheaper than this.
