This is my eagerly anticipated review of the newly opened "First Watch" restaurant. As many of you know I do a lot of restaurant reviews here in Las Vegas and this new First watch which recently opened up town Square was on our bucket list to check out for breakfast and or lunch.
First watch has I believe 4 restaurants in the Las Vegas/Henderson area. There are 665 First Watch restaurants across 33 states. Headquarters are in Bradenton Florida.
First impressions of the layout is that it is clean, modern and efficient. We arrived early Saturday morning, and the staff was very friendly, smiling and helpful. Kudos to our waiter Mason, who was extremely helpful and knowledgeable and one of the better waiters we have come across. The food prices are in line with these breakfast and lunch establishments, not overpriced, but competitive compared with what you get at similar boutique style breakfast/lunch restaurants. Worth mentioning is that they roast their own coffee beans and have their own plantation I was told. It's not mentioned in the menu. I ordered the "Tri-fecta" for breakfast and I opted for the waffle and for a $1.99 more, i opted for the "Million dollar bacon." The presentation on all the dishes is fabulous, but unfortunately, my breakfast arrived cold. I attribute this to growing pains, as they are new and need to work some kinks out. My wife had the "Barbacoa Chilaquiles breakfast bowl" and it was very good. The eggs I ordered were scrambled and they came whipped from a premade in house procedure. If you want fresh eggs, you have to ask for them and they will crack your eggs fresh, but it is not noted on the menu. Also, the syrup is an average variety, (Read, Corn syrup base.) But for $1.99 you can ask for and get a small cute jar of real make syrup.
They just opened 5 days ago and although the soft opening should have ironed out any kinks, they need just some small housekeeping items and this is attribute to my first meal being cold. Although they are a new restaurant, they need to focus on hot food first. My second breakfast was hot and delicious. It was the simple bacon and eggs and hash browns. *The soft scrambled eggs seemed "smallish" and this is the tread at some of the style restaurants. The eggs are farm raised but not pasture raised. The "Million Dollar Bacon" seems a bit hyped as it is bacon with syrup (and chives?) But I had one bite and it was better than most bacon in other local breakfast restaurants, but Meh.
Worth noting; If you plan on arriving on a weekend, get there before 9 AM as they do get quite busy as with most of these breakfast eateries. It is very clean friendly and well balanced decor that is inviting. Do look at the menu closely due to some seasonal changes . One thing also not worthy that there's no price on the coffee or the orange juice section. The manager told me this is due to the seasonal nature of menu items strange that you have to ask for a menu item pricing on common items like coffee & OJ, very unusual. it would be nice to have some kind of pricing on the menu for that. A small hiccup.
I will highly recommend this restaurant as it is pleasant, clean new and nice. The small kinks will work themselves out. I am sure and it is line with most of the other restaurants at this caliber. The effort in the diverse menu is evident and it is not your run of the mill diner. I definitely would recommend this new "First Watch" as an upcoming go-to spot for a chef inspired meal. It it quite special. read more
