Hey, y'all! I've been to First Watch twice now, a couple of years apart. Neither visit disappointed. Five stars, nah. Definitely a strong four for sure! I'll start with parking. Parking is atrocious, and it's atrocious because it's shared with several other places. So know that it is limited, especially in prime hours. Upon entering, we were greeted by masked sweet hostess who took us to our table. We got there at 10 am so it was a little crowded so there wasn't much social distancing. So if you're concerned about that, they have outside seating available. Our server came to greet us fairly quickly considering they were busy. Super sweet and her name escapes me! We asked for recommendations and she had them! We order the things she recommended and she wasn't wrong! Two of us had the Elote Mexican Street Corn Hash. It had eggs on top of seasoned and roasted w, corn and chorizo. It was topped with different cheeses and avocado. It has so other yummy things in it as well! My only complaint and the reason I gave them four star is because there just wasn't enough of it to justify the price. I only got that and a Dr. Pepper and my total was like $15. Don't get me wrong, it was good but just not enough in the large bowl it was served in to pay that again. The other person at my table that ordered it said the same thing so he ended up ordering two pancakes after we got our food and saw the portion size. It's all good though! If you're looking for something a little different than the chaotic scene that a Waffle House can provide, then look no further. These guys open @ 7:00 on weekdays (not sure about the weekend) and typically aren't too crowded when they first open. Small specialty menu as well as a full breakfast and lunch menu are available. Service/staff are always very friendly, however the one knock would be that service can tend to be on the slow side and you may have to ask for something more than once, but they are always friendly. The food is really good and they have options you won't find at every other breakfast place. My go to has become the breakfast tacos. Fluffy scrambled eggs, chicken, cheese, tomato (pico) and avocado (I hold the avocado) served with beans. My recommendation, even though I have never had the beans, is to substitute the amazing breakfast potatoes for the beans. The potatoes truly never disappoint. Prices range from $8 (ish) to $13 (ish) for your meal. I always leave very full and satisfied and rarely can eat all three tacos plus the potatoes. If you find yourself in the mood for some breakfast and want a good sit down place, this might be the place you're looking for. I would definitely return. My husband and I stopped in for breakfast. Very cute place and wasn't busy at all. The waitress didn't seem like she wanted to be there and didn't acknowledge us when we asked for lemons. She did bring them, but was still ahh, not a happy person, bless her heart. We got coffee and we drink it black. It was really good, surprisingly. We ordered the biscuit with gravy and the works omelet. Everything was delicious. My favorite was the toast and jelly that came with the omelet. It was really great! The farmhouse potatoes are incredible, million dollar bacon just INSANE, sausage was delicious, and their toast was some of the best I've ever tasted. The eggs were cooked to order and were also wonderful. The service was fantastic. Very quick and efficient, promptly filling waters, glasses, and coffees when needed but not overbearing. The staff were extremely friendly and polite and understood their menu extremely well. Lots of parking up front, easy in/out of main surrounding streets, and overall terrific experience. We have been to several First Watch restaurants in Kansas City, Omaha, Lincoln NE, and Orlando. The food here was as good as any of the others and the staff were friendly. My issue is the overall cleanliness. There was food on the seats of the booth, so we asked for a different table. Also food and other debris on the floor and window frames. First Watch in Hoover has been my go-to spot for years now. The food is consistent and the service is quick most of the time. It's a family-friendly setting, but it may be tricky to sit with a big party on the weekends. I always dine-in because the atmosphere has a farmhouse, chill vibe to it. Wow! I can't say enough great things about this place! I was not a brunch person till recently, and this just may have what it takes to become my favorite brunch place. I never expect much from chain restaurants, but First Watch is possibly the best chain restaurant I've ever been to. There are SO many menu options. I had so much trouble deciding what I wanted to get! I had it narrowed down to about 7 things I wanted by the time I saw the menu LOL! There were so many both sweet and savory options. I ended up getting the Farmhouse skillet hash with eggs over easy and toast on the side. It was healthy, flavorful, and creative. You can't go wrong with potatoes, avocado, bacon, perfectly cooked eggs, and cheese! My favorite part of the skillet was actually the house roasted tomatoes! They packed a major punch in flavor! The toast and fresh fruit on the side were the perfect sides as well. I loved the toast, and I'm not usually big on toast! The serving size was huge also, so you really could share it with someone or take it home as well. The service was impeccable. Reliable spot for breakfast and brunch. I was pleased to see you can add your party to the wait list using the Yelp App, which proved to be super useful for us. Even though we visited on a busy three-day weekend, we waited less than 5 minutes upon arrival. If you are a coffee drinker, it is good to know they have a complimentary coffee station for patrons who are waiting. I also enjoy the physical vibe of First Watch - chic, farmhouse, and comfortable. It seems like they got some tips from Joanna Gaines. Service is reliable. Within 60 seconds of being seated, our server came to take our drink orders. I ordered the kale tonic and water. The kale tonic is consistently fresh and delicious. It's also nice how they bring a carafe of water, so I can refill my glass on my own without a wait. They also do the same thing with coffee; you get your own little pot for easy refills. I have had a variety of items and I have always been satisfied. I keep telling myself I need to order from the lunch menu, but I am such a fan of the breakfast items that I have not been able to journey to the other side of the menu. On my recent visit I had the lemon ricotta pancakes. Nice consistency, not too sweet, and fresh berries on top. For my tastes, with the lemon and fruit, I barely used any syrup. I also ordered a side of bacon. It seems a little pricey when looking at the menu, but it included four substantial slices, so my husband and I split an order. On past visits I've enjoyed the blueberry pancakes, ham and Gruyere omelette, and turkey sausage. My favorite item is only available in the fall, so I try to make it a priority to make a visit in October to get the pumpkin pancakes. I will say on this particular visit it seemed like we waited an extra long time for our food to come to our table, but it was easy to overlook as I enjoyed my kale tonic and my husband leisurely sipped on his coffee. read more

I visited this place last year and I had an awful experience so I wrote my yelp review and corporate acknowledged that I had an awful experience and they mailed me a gift card for 2 back in November. So I finally used my gift card and I was absolutely not returning to 280 so we went to the Hoover location. We were seated almost immediately because we were on the waitlist. The guy I assume was the manager was so polite and I really enjoyed my waiter as well. We started with the morning meditation which was absolutely awesome on my first visit and it was the same the second time. I could really drink this every single day. I ordered the Farmhouse skillet hash and man was it great. I'm not really a egg person and when I told them to fry my egg hard they did just that. Usually I just throw the eggs to the side but ate the entire egg. The potatoes, sautéed onions, tomatoes and the bacon was just yuuummmyyy!!!! My cousin ordered the Belgian waffle with bacon 2 over medium eggs and a order of potatoes. I loved the waffle this time and again those potatoes are to die for. Back of house is a reflection of management's lack of ability to fire and hire correctly. After greeting, smiling, and handing bill to hostess/cashier, she didn't ask how our meal was. In a pinch, not in a rush, and solely for the reason of no other availability of similar food options would I return here. We have eaten at First Watch before and usually love it. We have been to this location twice and it is just OK. Food is usually consistently good, however we went there today and my husband got the avocado toast with over hard eggs. He got sick within an hour afterwards (puking). Service was so-so; the hostess wasn't very chipper (to be the first person you see when you walk in, she wasn't very friendly). The food took a little while to get out to us. It was only a waffle, bacon and avocado toast. Anyway, don't think we'll be back to this location due to the avocado toast incident. :/ read more

A good new breakfast/brunch place in Hoover. I have been to other First Watch locations in other states and had a good experience and this one was good as well. The service was fast and friendly for a Saturday morning around 7:30AM. I ordered my usual-the Elevated Egg Sandwich which is also served with potatoes, and it was delicious and fresh. My wife got the Healthy Turkey Omelette(which I also tried) and it bursted with good flavor. I normally like my omelettes regular but for an egg white omelette it was extremely tasty. I also kept eyeing the pictures of the Millionaires bacon and decided to give it a try-very good. I think I've had better bacon but having it cooked with drizzled syrup added a great touch to it. The coffee was also very smooth. The weird part about this place(and all other locations) is having to pay at the counter after you are finished. It almost seems a little too fancy for that but that's just my two cents. Overall good experience and I would love to come back and try lunch options soon. read more

There are various First Watch locations within the metro area, out of all of them, this location is my favorite. Nestled within a quiet plaza, this location doesn't seem to be as heavily crowded compared to the others. The interior is modern yet also very welcoming and warm in terms of atmosphere. I also find the food here to be a step better than the other locations as well. This is a solid First Watch location and should definitely be a first choice as well. read more

The food is delicious however the last several times I've been there the service has been absolutely horrible. We were seated and a couple in line after us were seated. Our waitress talked for 15 minutes to another customer and then it was another 10 minutes before she came up and asked us what we wanted to drink. We waited another 8 minutes before she brought out coffee. We waited another 30 minutes for our food. Meanwhile the couple that came in after us had already eaten their food and left. I went again with a friend and my food arrived 20 minutes after my friend's food arrived. My friend had already eaten all her food before My food came out. No reason was given as to why my eggs Benedict and ham took so long to get to me. I just kept being told my food was on the way. Once again others who came in after us we're delivered their food before my food came out. I understand wait staff is hard to find because of Covid. However this is the 2nd time I've had to wait so long for food and watch others get theirs quickly. At no time should there be no wait staff on the floor and this happened often. I don't know if service is crap because of covid or if the waitstaff is just spending too much time talking in the kitchen. Just highly disappointed. read more

First Watch Hoover is (usually) one of my favorite brunch places! They have lots of delicious healthy options, and the not so healthy Belgian waffle and bacon are fantastic. A few months ago and then again today are hopefully exceptions and not the new normal. I was craving the waffle so I came, alone, at 11:30am on a Sunday. I don't eat gluten because of an allergy but the waffle is so good, and it's been so long since I had it, I was willing to suffer the rest of today, and brave the Sunday morning crowd, to have it. Cut to 20min later and I find out they are out of waffles! The server offered French toast or a pancake instead, which was the right thing to do, but come on. Out of waffles at 11:30? The service has been sporadic, at best, and the food was cold, tasted great, but cold and this is similar to a few months ago.
