My family and I recently dined at the Riverchase Galleria location (Sunday noon). We were promptly seated and ordered a blooming onion-delicious. My wife had the coconut shrimp with a Caesar salad and broccoli. My daughter had grilled shrimp, my son had the Blooming chicken with a huge side of mac/cheese and fries. I had the side salad, onion soup (great) and the 6 oz sirloin medium. Every bite of every entree and side was delicious. Our waiter was always around and promptly refilled our drinks. Went as a last minute choice, everything was seemingly packed on Saturday. Being that we frequent dining during the week and only do weekends with reservations I didn't think too much about a typical Saturday. This Outback was super easy to get to since it's right by the mall. No wait at all--we sat down as soon as we walked in, which I really appreciated. This experience was so bad that we almost got up and walked out. We were seated fairly quickly and then we waited. And waited. And waited some more. We stopped someone and asked where our server was, and they ran off to get someone. It still took several minutes and we almost left. Our kids were getting restless. The server finally came and we ordered. When they brought out the food, the kids meals came out last, even though we put their order in first and asked for it to be brought out as soon as it was ready. The kids were not happy... We started noticing that families that came after us were attended to (able to get drinks and order) before anyone had even visited our table. My experience was terrible and they tried to accuse us of stealing and got to fighting while our food took 2-3 hours to come out. The ambiance was very overstimulating and overwhelming. Well gave Outback another chance. Same result. My filet was full of gristle, difficult to cut. Anyone who has had a filet knows it should b3 easily cut. Hard to believe but it was like an instant replay. Blooming onion overcooked again, baked potato too dry, bread was good, salad very good, my beer was good. Wife's prime rib was ok, not the best but acceptable. Forget the server's name but he was great. and I tip him well, not his fault the food was crap, especially for the price. We ordered appetizers and drinks--the mushrooms came out quickly, but the wings took quite a while. Unfortunately, when the wings finally arrived, they were incorrect. We had requested plain, non-breaded wings, but were told they didn't have any non-breaded ones thawed out. There was also a delay with the drinks, and they were initially brought to the wrong table before finally making their way to us. A pretty good experience we had, even though they were slow-slow-SLOW! It took about 20 minutes for us to get bread (to be honest I think it was a table near us that slowed our server down majorly), and our food did take a while but it was made to our liking. Our steaks were cooked perfectly, and our salad was great. I wasn't a super fan of the baked potato as they seem to use a sweet butter for the potato-- it tasted like a dessert spread so I wasn't a fan of that. I did watch the bartender often take care of her guests and she did an excellent job. She was very attentive, very kind and was happy to help anyone who sat at the bar. It was a pleasant experience to watch her care for the customers. Our server was nice but seemed ready to go. It was later in the evening and I kind of felt like we were rushed out a tad. Ok I am lover of steaks. I appreciate good service is a must!!!!!!!!! But when you get there and no action is for 20 minutes before the manager has to send the server. To take the order, once this is done then we are in limbo for bread which should be done or on the table soon as you are there before your order. I thought was not given there best service I have been there before and to see the drop in service was a disappointment. I want recommend this place so, do it a your on choice. My husband and I went mid afternoon on Valentines Day. The wait was minimal. We were sat at the tables of a waitress who has hearing problems so we make sure we point at everything we order so we're sure it's right. We ordered the trio appetizer, when it finally came the onion petals were so burnt they were inedible. The mozzarella sticks looked ok but literally had zero cheese in them, it had been cooked out. (how do you not notice that?). The fries were stone cold. So we sent back. Fast forward to our main course and for the second time my husband's medium steak was all but rare. The hostess was overwhelmed by a party of 5 and 2 couples. The staff was friendly but very slow. Blooming onion showed up a solid 10 minutes before any drinks, then bread. The food was 5.5 /10. This entire experience was horrible. We placed our order which was 2 Lobster meals, 1 Shrimp meal. When our food came out my hubby's lobster tail was good but he didn't get any of his sides. My Shrimp on the Barbie came out which was heated over seasoned shrimp with no grill marks. My hubby paid 50 plus dollars for 2 drinks and a lobster meal with no sides because he was told that the lobsters by themselves is about 30 dollar, when my hubby ask to take the bake potatoe off because he didn't receive the waitor told him it was a potatoe on the table. My hubby had to pretty much go back and forth with the manager until he decided to give me a 10.00 gift card and let's be clear I don't get any food or dinner because of this restaurant so no you wasn't going us any favors giving me a 10.00 card. Overall we wanted a nice, delicious meal and this didn't happened and no I want be going back to this particular Outback. I wish I would've look at the reviews because obviously this locations really need to work in a lot of things. Nothing says "this is gonna suck" like ordering a salad and getting almost nothing on the plate. Ordered the steak salad. Menu shows at least 6 slices (about 6oz sirloin) of steak, with lots of ingredients. What I received were 4 small "chunks" of steak with some lettuce, shredded carrots and red cabbage, and a tiny smattering of blue cheese. No tomato, no onion (specifically asked for extra of both). Menu says "mixed greens - it was just iceberg. I asked for blue cheese dressing on the side, none came when served. Mentioned to server, who said she would fix it, then she promptly disappeared for 10 minutes. For $19.99 one should get what is advertised in the menu - especially if it is a SALAD for crying out loud. This restaurant chain is gross, the food severely underwhelming, service was meh at best. Terrible customer service. My son ordered the 6 oz sirloin steak ($16.79 according to the site) from here night before last (2/2024) he gets home, puts it in the fridge and cuts it open the next day. I have not had good service the last 2 times I've been here. Once was very busy and our waitress was very overwhelmed. It took her a long time to get anything done and a long time to get food and drinks. This time, we were sat immediately because they were not busy, but we sat waiting for a good 15 minutes and no one came to our table. Waiters walked by us numerous times and said nothing to us. We decided to give up and leave. On the way out, I notified the hostess and it appeared a manager was standing up there as well who stated that our booth was actually manned by the bartender. I don't know if the bartender was told if we were there or not, but they surely didn't come to our table. No apologies from the anyone. Our dinner experience tonight was very disappointing. It began after we ordered. We ordered a Bloomin' Onion for an appetizer and were expecting the brown bread service also. Fifteen minutes later we had nothing, and our waiter had not returned to the table. The waiter had been to two other tables. Someone from the kitchen delivered my husband's wedge salad. Meanwhile I watched three other parties be seated. One was a party of seven. They were seated and ordered about five minutes after us. They received their Bloomin' Onion and two loaves of bread long before us. I believe our waiter forgot about us and did not check for the onion or the bread; thus it went to another table. Eventually, we saw our waiter again, and asked about the onion and bread. He said he'd check on it. One loaf of bread came out quickly, but not an onion. Meanwhile, my husband finished his salad. Five to ten minutes after the bread came out, our food arrived--still no bloomin' onion. Our meal was not delivered by our waiter. I ordered a medium filet mignon with a baked sweet potato and asparagus. My steak was medium rare in the middle, but I ate it anyway. The sweet potato was the smallest sweet potato I've ever seen. It was supposed to have honey butter and cinnamon on it. The cinnamon was missing. The asparagus was fine. My husband ordered his steak medium; it was medium well, bordering o well done. He had ordered a baked sweet potato also. The plate had a regular baked potato with no toppings on it. At that moment, our waiter arrived with the onion. We sent it back since our food had arrived. He made an excuse about not knowing what had happened. He said he'd remove it from our bill. After he left, we realized our meal order wasn't right. By this time, we were disgusted with the poor service and poor attention to detail. My husband got up and found the waiter. He told him what was wrong. A few minutes later his correct potato and my cinnamon came out. We ate our meal without interruption. No one ever offered any "I'm sorry", free dessert, or money off. The manager was unaware of any of this, which says volumes about the lack of policies/procedures in place. I cannot justify eating here again. Outback has gotten ridiculously expensive. I expect quality everything for the prices they charge. They cannot deliver that, while their competition can. As a result, we will not eat there again. read more

When we first got there everything was fine, but then it went down hill. We waited for over an 2 hours to get our food. We kept asking our waiter when our food was coming and she kept telling us it was on its way. She told us the order had went in but they never saw it. I used to go to the outback a lot in Tuscaloosa,Alabama and always had great service however in Hoover that isn't the case. This is the third time since I've been to this new location. They seem to always have lack of servers or servers who don't care. I put our name on list so we wouldn't have to wait through the app. We waited over an hour for our food. I had to ask for refills on our drinks. I feel like on a Saturday night that need more servers. Our food was good but service was bad. Not sure I'll be going back anytime soon. This is an updated review. I still give my experience four stars. We went on a Wednesday night and enjoyed the Walkabout Wednesday Special. You can get a sirloin steak or chicken plus a beer or Coke for $10. 99 I got the Chicken on the Barbie which was basic but what do you expect for 10.99. It was enough for two meals. I will not be back. Steak was one of the worst I have had in recent years, the potato was ok, and the service was sub par. The new location looks really nice though! So they get an extra star for that. The steak was tough and somewhat flavorless, the waitress seemed confused for most of the time we were there, and even though the dining room had several open tables we had to wait in the lobby for about 15 minutes before being seated. There are too many places to get a great steak and great service for just a little more money. read more
