Came here for a late breakfast the other day. I had the 'stacker,' which was decent. The gravy wasn't the best I've had. The service was good. read more

I ordered the Sun Up which was plenty of food and very good. The pancakes were fluffy and delicious. The service was excellent and the atmosphere is cozy and welcoming! read more

First Street Café is a nice restaurant that is very reminiscent of a diner that I frequented with my Grandmother when I was a child. They weren't overly busy so I was seated and served right away. One thing that I really appreciated is that the food came out hot, not just warm enough to be passable. My server was very candid with me when I asked her about various menu items. She steered me away from a couple of things I was considering. They weren't bad food items, just not what I was looking for after explaining to her what I was wanting. I very much appreciated that level of honesty. The food was exactly what I'd expect from a café like this - average food but good food. I really enjoyed the breading on my chicken fried chicken; and, the mashed potatoes tasted like homemade. I'll definitely be back! read more

Always our go to place for a good hot breakfast or lunch. The waitresses are very friendly!

Food, service, and ambience. The perfect tucked away lil cafe. Been back more than a few times. read more

Food was not good. Got the catfish special. I understand not being near water the 3 shrimp that came with it were frozen from Walmart but the rubbery texture of the catfish when there are catfish farms in the state is unacceptable. The lady waiting on our party did a great job of taking care of us. Service was the only high light. read more

This place is a neat Cafe in Jacksonville. It has that hole in the wall feel. The prices are very reasonable. I would return here for breakfast in a heartbeat! read more

New to this area decided to try a local business. I always try to support local businesses as much as possible and give a honest review of service and food. Service was good here greeted and seated right away. Order placed and served all in great time. We ordered the Sun Rise breakfast. Not so good at all. The French toast was terrible it served cold even the syrup was chilled. I am not one who returns food to the kitchen. Sorry but I Would not recommend this place... read more

Good food, excellent service. We enjoyed our meal here at the Cafe. It definitely gives you that small town vibe. Where the regulars are known. Just a good "country" breakfast. read more

My mother and I were having a daughter mother day. We were walking down 1st Street and decided to give this restaurant to try. We had Sarah as our waitress and she was beyond amazing! We got a lot more than we bargained for, food was great, drinks were even better, but the service was phenomenal! Will definitely be returning! read more

Had to walk past 2 servers outside smoking to get to the front door. Once seated, one of those smoking servers came inside and brought us menus and silverware (which she touched with her bare hands) WITHOUT washing her hands. She reeked of cigarette smoke and it's disgusting that she didn't even wash her hands (which is required by the health department). The last time I was there, the server was fighting with a man(who was seated in our section) the whole time. We will not be returning to this white trash restaurant. read more

My wife and I love this spot! Everything I've ordered so far has been excellent. The open-faced roast beef has been my favorite so far. My wife loves the patty melt. Friendly staff and reasonable prices. read more

Went here for lunch and made my order and clarified with the waitress that the ordered food contained no cheese.aftet being assured there was no cheese and the order was delivered coveredin chill I started to eat and had eaten two bites discovered there was in fact melted cheese. To which the waitress said sorry and took the food away here is where the rub comes in was never ask if I would like something different and they never offered to remove th charges for the wrong food. read more

Excellent service and great diner style food. This was my first visit and was impressed. It is a pick your own seat style. The waitress came up quick and we had our food within 5 - 10 minutes of ordering. I got the Bubbas Big Breakfast that was only $7 and certainly was big. No one at our table had anything bad to say because they were all busy eating. Highly recommend for breakfast. read more

I was wanting some Italian food so I went to Roma's but it was closed on Mondays. So, since I was already there and hungry I decided to just try First Street Café. Glad I did, the jalapeño cheddar burger was great! The best burger I've had in a long time! The waffle fries were perfectly cooked and really good too. The only negative is that they serve Pepsi instead of Coca Cola, that alone is enough to keep me from returning to restaurants. However, the burger was really good and the sweet tea was actually pretty good. read more

I have eaten here before, but this was first time I had breakfast here. My wife and I were in town and decided to stop by. I had the #5 The Sun Up which was pretty good. The service was quick and nice. The prices were on point too! I definitely want to come back again! read more

This restaurant was one of our go to for girl time luncheons. The food has a comforting vibe to it and it tastes like grandma just cooked it straight from her kitchen. They offer specials on the menu board which was always exciting to see what they had to offer that day. The service is extremely friendly and the restaurant is clean. The hours are a bit weird so make sure they are open before you go. read more

Very friendly staff, but the food was not nearly as good. Way overpriced for the portion you get so if you're hungry find a different spot. And if you want fries it's an additional cost. Food is very bland and tasteless. Nothing crazy about this place, you're not missing out. read more

So I've passed by First Street Cafe a few times and wondered about, so a girlfriend and I decided to grab lunch there this afternoon. Walking in it was not what I expected at all, From the outside it looks almost a little bit dinghy but inside its bright and the walls are covered with license plates and different memorabilia, very diner-centric. We were greeted warmly and immediately and asked to grab a seat, they were pretty busy and our server looked a little harried but she came over and took our drink order right away. The menu shows that they only serve lunch & breakfast and are open monday-saturday something like 6-2 (dont take this for fact its from memory but I do know they close @ 2) The menu includes a great selection of burgers, salads, and sandwiches with soups and special plate lunches as well. The breakfast menu included all your breakfast staples- pancakes, french toast, hash browns, bacon, eggs, etc and I imagine they carry specials during the breakfast hours as well. I chose to order the chicken tender plate which included hand cut chicken tenders, fresh homemade fries and a side salad. My girlfriend ordered the chicken sandwich which also came with your choice of side and she chose french fries. The fries were phenomenal! Some of the best french fries I've ever had, you could tell they were fresh and handcut and just had really good flavor. The salad was fresh and really good and the chicken tenders were also good. I wish there was a bit more seasoning on the chicken but they were good. Can't wait to go back and bring the hubby, the burgers looked delicious and hes a burger man! The prices are very reasonable and I'm happy to have another breakfast/lunch option besides chilis or fast food in jacksonville! The owner (or atleast I think he was?) was also there and he let us know they've only been open for 3 months so I think for a new business they're doing a great job! Go check it out for sure. read more

The burgers are the best & staff is friendly. Cute little place to eat & if you're in a hurry this place is quick with getting there food out. The food is Always hot & fresh! read more

We came in when they first opened and ordered we were the only ones in the restaurant. 45 minutes later we decided we needed to leave our food had been ready to come out but the waitress decided carrying on a personal conversation with another customer who came in later was a better idea than serving us. We got our food to go and we won't be back. Seriously you have one job... read more

Good food. Good price. They also have really good home cooked meals every day! The inside was old, but it's clean and has a plethora of seating. Get one of the sandwiches while you're there! read more

The breakfast food was good, typical diner fare and fast (especially important for us since we were dining with a 2.5 year old). Our server was pleasant and attentive during our meal, and the prices were reasonable, $15 for 2 adults and 1 child - will eat here again! read more

I was here for breakfast and it was amazing! If you are in Jacksonville and craving some breakfast grub, this is the place! Breakfast food is my favorite type of food too, so I'm not saying this lightly! Plus their customer service is wonderful, our waitress was attentive and even got us to-go drinks. It's been a long time since I've had an over-easy egg cooked properly and they did it perfectly! Also, most of the time they don't give you enough toast to go with the eggs, but they sure did; I even had some left over. If you like bacon (who doesn't), then you are in luck! My plate came with a generous portion of huge slices cooked to perfection. The person I was with had ordered a meal that came with biscuits and gravy and you can tell that it's cooked from scratch. We were surprised that they served the gravy on the side, which in my book is a major plus! Everything was SO delicious and their portion size was awesome. I saw their lunch menu and I have to say that I'll definitely be back to indulge in that too! read more

We got there at 1:30 and they were more interested in mopping the floor and closing than us. Service was not great but food was good. Our server was not happy that we needed to look at the menu befor ordering. I felt very rushed and ended up taking my last bites with me because they obviously wanted us to leave....it was just barely 2p......probably won't go back. read more

The food was good, but the service was crappie. We got out food N drinks, but the waitress never came back to check on us or refill our drinks. I left the table to go pay the cashier left the register for what I don't know. I guess trying to figure out if we dashed. I just felt uncomfortable N really unwanted there. read more

If I could, I would rate this a 3.5. It's not quite a 4... but close. My good friend and I went here for breakfast this morning. The interior is super clean and cute. There were only about 5 other couples there, but it was a Monday morning, probably their slow time. There is a sign telling you to seat yourself. Before we could seat ourselves the server warmly greeted us and asked if we wanted a high chair for my friends baby! Good service! We sat and got our coffee (she even brewed decaf just for me!). The menu is small and contains the breakfast basics. Biscuits, eggs, pancakes, etc... I had a western omelet with 2 biscuits, and my friend had the 'country boy' breakfast. Her plate was filled with biscuits, bacon, and 2 eggs, all covered in gravy. Yum. Both of us enjoyed our food. It was nothing spectacular or out-of-this-world, but it was good and very affordable. The service was great and the restaurant was clean. read more

I've had breakfast and lunch and both are very satisfying and familiar. They have the biggest chicken tenders, meat loaf on Mondays, dumplings on Thursday and home made mac and cheese every Friday. They aren't stingy with their gravy! Friendly servers who seem to know a lot of the diners by name. I'm going there Saturday for breakfast--pie and coffee. read more
