This is a review of First Marshall Auto Auction of Harvey, Illinois.
Executive Summary: Don't go there- you will lose. You are up against professional con artists. It matters not how educated or smart you think you are- you will lose.
HANDGUNS: Let's talk about how many handguns are there. These are off-duty sheriffs and local police who take a break from serving and protecting the public in order to intimidate and prevent honest, hard-working, low income people from getting their $600 cash deposit money back once they realize that the additional mandatory fees make the "deal" you just "won" a complete rip-off, especially once you actually see the condition of the car.
CARS: Do you know what kind of cars wind up here? This isn't the dealer auction where reputable first tier dealers trade decent cars that better suit their customers. For example, if a Lexus dealer takes a well-cared for Honda in as a trade in on a new Lexus, they may sell that Honda on their own lot, or they may take it to the dealer auction where a Honda dealer may buy it and sell it. (The public is NOT invited to the closed-off dealer auctions). But what happens when a Lexus dealer takes in a beat to heck Toyota in as a trade? They will not put that junk for sale on their own lot, and no other first tier dealer will buy an abused Toyota, so it winds up at First Marshall Auto Auction of Harvey, Illinois!
If you are shopping here, something bad happened in your life. Maybe it was your fault, maybe not- but you are about to be punished for it.
EMPLOYEES: After being mentally abused by the employees and off-duty police for 3-4 hours, you will sign anything and believe anything, so you will put down $600 cash. Regardless of what every employee verbally told you- it is not refundable. When you actually see the car and are told to pay all the additional fees, you will realize that the place is a complete waste of time and a rip-off, but you won't get that $600 cash back. They just took your money. And it was 100% legal because you signed a document stating this. As a matter of fact, the person you just gave the $600 cash to- you will not see them again that night because they don't want you to ever see them again. You will continue the "deal" with yet another fast talking con artist.
LAWSUITS: Thinking of hiring a lawyer and suing because of all the hidden fees which can double the cost of your junk purchase? Guess what! They will deduct service and storage fees, opportunity costs, lost sales, etc to keep your money. And it is legal for them to do so.
My point is- these are not good used vehicles that were well-cared for. They are the junk of the auto sales business that legitimate car dealers do not want.
Seriously, if a reputable Honda dealer took in a well-cared for Toyota, they would keep it on their lot and sell it to make money. But if the trade in is garbage- they sell it to First Marshall Auto Auction for scrap money.
