History
Established in 1892.
First Ipswich Bank began as The First National Bank of Ipswich on July 25, 1892 in downtown Ipswich.
The building in which the Commercial Lending team resides was once the town's theater and bowling alley.
In the late 1980's the Bank purchased the theater and converted it to office space.
In 1989 the two buildings were connected with the breezeway.
First Ipswich Bancorp, Inc. and the First National Bank of Ipswich merged with Brookline Bancorp, Inc. on March 1, 2011.
In June 2012, The First National Bank of Ipswich was converted from a national bank to a Massachusetts state chartered trust company. In accordance with the charter change, the Bank changed its name to First Ipswich Bank.
In 2017 the Bank will celebrate its 125th anniversary.
