On Thursday, April 11 our main sump pump failed and our backup couldn't keep up. This resulted in…read moresome flooding in our basement of course. We call Atlas around 6:45pm and they say they can be out here by 8pm. Great!! They don't show up till 9pm. No big deal because the emergency plumbers were down there till around 8:45ish installing a new sump pump. It was raining pretty hard too, so it could take anyone awhile to get somewhere. Thought nothing of it but that should've been our first clue we had chosen the wrong company. Austin (owner's son) got there first and a small crew got there shortly after. They worked from 9pm until 1am and left their equipment there to dry everything out. Austin did a rough estimate and our contract stated that $6,000 would be the max we pay and that he would follow up with us on Saturday. He also mentioned we should throw away our couch that was down there (probably to add $$ to the work they did) but we felt the legs of the couch and they were bone dry....literally bone dry, so told him that wouldn't be necessary (another red flag). He said he would show up Saturday to check things out and was about 15 minutes late from the hour time frame he gave us. Not a deal breaker.... but in hindsight, another red flag. He said it looks like there was "less damage than expected" and that our final bill "shouldn't exceed 5k." He said he would return on Sunday himself to retrieve all of the equipment and will be at our house between 2 and 3. Around 3pm, we call. We text..no response. 4pm comes...no response. Around 4:30 we get a call from Deandre, who was part of the crew from Thursday. He said he would be there by 5:30. He had no idea no one was supposed to come prior (nor should he since Austin was supposed to be the one) and he told us Austin told him to just come to our house out of the blue. At 6:03 still no one. 4+ hours of waiting around on my 1 day off that week for someone who can't even respond to a text or call, so I call Steve (the owner, Austin's dad). He conferences Austin in on the call and Austin says "never got any call or text." I told him on the conference call that it says my message was delivered (both have iPhones) and I can screenshot that right now to the group if needed. He quickly changes his story to he just got them and wasn't checking his phone. Deandre shows up as I am on the phone and I assured him I wasn't upset with him. He said he had no idea that Austin was supposed to be there between 2 and 3 and this was actually his day off, but Austin called him around 4 to call us and never informed him that we were already waiting hours for him, so Austin pretty much sent Deandre into a situation blindfolded. Kind of a crappy move. Deandre was nothing short of amazing and did all the work himself and took everything out. The rest of the story can be seen in the text messages below. Specifically after I was given a bill of 6k!!!!!! Despite what Austin said to me after viewing all of the work AFTERWARDS and said it shouldn't top 5k. Steve threatened to show the texts in his response, so I figured I'd do him a favor and post them for him. Between telling me he gave me a discount already (max price on the contract is a discount???) and threatening legal action for defamation of character (once I told him quoting his son isn't "defamation" he didn't bring it up again), and saying I'm full of sh$% for stating ONLY facts, and blowing up my phone (I added the time stamp so you could see how many texts he sent, and how he continued after I stopped responding 20 minutes later...he sent 16 messages to my 6), I'll let you decide if this is a company you want to do business with when you're forced to make a quick decision and need help. You're welcome for posting the text messages for you Steve. Good luck with the lawsuit.

Atlas came in to remove the cabinets and counter top so the plumber could fix it. They then quickly did the remediation. I was told they would do all the work to get the bathroom back to the way it was. That is where it fell apart. They did not show me the damage to the cabinets and I was too upset to think to ask. (I think they could have been salvaged) I knew it would take six weeks to get replacements but nothing would be done until there was insurance approval. The insurance company was waiting for an estimate. It was four weeks of waiting. I started looking into cabinets and counter top repair myself. My laundry room also had damage so I asked Steve if he could replace my floor. I had purchased the materials so they could get started. I did not get an estimate or bill till after the floor was ripped up. (I know shame on me but I was in a panic) I paid half and the rest was to be paid after completion. After I had time to go over the bill I called Steve. I left a message saying I had concerns and that the numbers were off. He never called me back. After the floor was complete I called Steve to address the estimate. (He charged me double and did not reimburse me for the materials I bought.) He said he stood by his pricing. Luckily the insurance company sent me the check for the bathroom and I was able to part ways with Steve. I don't think Atlas (Steve) would have made the bathroom repair using the same quality of materials. Very poor communication and bad follow through. Blessed side, I found a great contractor and everything is back to normal but better!

They went so far as to tell me that I may have mold in my ceiling so they would bring a mold scrubber. The day before they were scheduled to come out they called to tell me that "my ceiling didn't need to be replaced" (pieces of my ceiling were hanging down due to water damage yet they were telling me it didn't need to be replaced) and I would be better off just finding a drywall company to do the work. I had been trying to find drywall companies prior to contacting them but no one would take the job because of the mold risk. I explained this to them and said that their representative had thought the same. They told me that my ceiling was dry and they bring a mold scrubber to every job. There had been a very major storm the week before and many people had flooding again so if I'm reading between the lines, they were willing to do my job when they didn't have other work to do but as soon as they could make more money on someone else's job they left me high and dry. The woman who called me said she would check with another company for me and see if they could help me out but of course it's been 3 weeks and she hasn't called back. Also; I explained that I had cleared the entire room in preparation for them to come and her response was "well I guess you can move your furniture back." Horrible, horrible customer service and zero compassion.

Then I called ServPro for the mold issues. They were AMAZING! Very professional. Stephen Smith is the project manager who came out first. He immediately scheduled his team to come out. When they showed up, it was like a light at the end of the nasty tunnel in my basement. They were quick, very professional, and went beyond their job requirements. I appreciate them so much and could not recommend them more. Through my basement issues I have dealt with several contractors for various things, and SERVPRO is the only company I can honestly say I would reccommend to a friend.

The water ruined carpeting, and leaked down into the first floor dining room ceiling and beyond. Floors had to be dried, furniture moved, carpet and ceiling replaced, and ceiling and walls repainted. The entire Paul Davis team was wonderful. From remediation, reconstruction, and back to normal, they all did great work! I was very impressed and pleased. I have expensive dining room furniture that I was particularly concerned about. It, as well as bedroom furniture, had to be carefully moved to different rooms. I can be quite particular, but each guy was careful and attentive to my concerns and listened well to my apprehension regarding packing fragile china, moving the heavy dining furniture, being careful not to scratch it, rehanging a heavy mirror, etc. Thanks to Mike, Ryan, Carter, and Kyle. I was also worried about seams showing when the new ceiling drywall was installed, but Justin did an expert job installing and painting it and the walls. It looks great! George, who removed the old carpet and laid the new, also did beautiful work. In addition, they were pleasant, respectful and nice people to deal with. I highly recommend them! Thanks to a great team: Jeff S. (remediation), Mike LaMore (project supervisor & reconstruction estimator), Justin (drywall and painting), George (carpet), Carter, Ryan and Kyle. Thanks! - Liza
