I originally left a 1-star review and was quickly contacted by Frank's partner, Robert L. He claimed my review was unfair because I didn't allow them a chance to fix the issues. Despite giving them a second chance, they failed again. I was left on read and to make matters worse, someone from their team texted me, calling me "beautiful," making me uncomfortable. Lack of Research and Initial Red Flags: I take responsibility for not researching this company thoroughly. The warning signs were there, and I should have trusted my instincts. I still don't know if they're licensed or insured since I couldn't find them on sunbiz.org. They ask for 50% upfront -- something other contractors later told me is a major red flag. Communication Issues: This company's communication is awful. Their excuses? "We're busy. We have many projects." A quick text takes seconds, especially after taking a large upfront payment. On day 2, they no-called, no-showed without notice, leaving us confused. My husband contacted Frank, who said he was at urgent care with his son due to asthma. I later learned from other upset clients that he used the same excuse with them. Emergencies happen, but failing to notify clients is unacceptable. No showing, and arriving later than promised is the norm for them. A late start is one thing; poor communication is another. During prep their workers moved our belongings without supervision, leading to broken items (magnets, knick-knacks, houseplants) and missing ones - our bathroom vent disappeared and was never reinstalled. We had to buy a new one. They never told us about the damage or missing items until we confronted them. Unprofessional & Suspicious Behavior: I came home to find an empty cookie wrapper from my pantry on the floor -- someone ate my food. Our garden hose, which they used vanished from my home. After my husband texted Frank, demanding its return, the hose reappeared the next day but no explanation why they took my property with them. They also used our step stool, left it covered in paint, and didn't clean it. Lack of Transparency: The contract lacked key details -- no start or end dates, not even an estimated timeline. We were verbally told to leave our home for 2 nights, I knew that wasn't enough time, but we ended up displaced for six days. That would have been fine if they provided updates so I could plan for my dog and job. Any attempt to get updates was met with vague, unhelpful responses. They promised to repair and fill holes per the contract, but that was NOT the case. Terrible Workmanship: I am embarrassed by the results. Multiple professionals told me it looks like a beginner's work. There was paint and debris on our $3,000 couch, on my father-in-law's guitar, on our living room TV, and on our walls throughout the house. The job looks rushed -- globs of knockdown texture, rough patches, and visible popcorn texture remain. Light fixtures were installed incorrectly, creating more work for us. Final Results: This experience was a nightmare -- broken items, poor workmanship, and unprofessional behavior. Learn from my mistake: YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY. Drinks and black&milds were left outside my front door when they left, and 8 trash bags and 2 buckets sat in my yard for over 36 hours. He claimed to be there the last day out of "the kindness of his heart" when in reality it's because I had already paid. Not worth the money I paid, not worth the time I was displaced from my home, not worth the stress of missing work as an active duty military member because they couldn't keep up with their punctuality. I was told to let them know if there were any other issues but I rather handle it myself at this point than deal with them 1. Not answering the phone, 2. Not showing up on time, and 3. Not completing the job I hired them for. If you're looking for professionalism and quality, move around.

Second time we came to their office, Christopher saw us, ran and lady at the front said that he is not there :) Such wonderful humans. When I called City of Jax they stated that this company never paid for the permit and they never submitted copy of the contract. Nice work! Owner of this company at the time tried to scam us with paying more for services they did not do, so this company is the last place you want to do business with. We did not speak English well in 2007 as we do now, so they obviously realized they can scam foreigners. 2007 were different times. Now we can read reviews online and avoid companies like this one.

Champion Roofing replaced the roof on our house a couple of months before we purchased it and…read moreincluded a long-term warranty. Our home inspector noticed that water was pooling on part of the roof and suggested that the warranty should cover improper installation leading to water retention. Shortly after completing the sale, we reached out to Champion to register the warranty. Tina confirmed that this would be no problem, and she would start working on the paperwork. We mentioned the pooling water, and she told us that her boss (Chris, the owner) was out of town. He would get back to us upon his return. A week later, we had heard nothing about either the water or the warranty. This began two months of getting the run around. We would call, be told that the warranty was in process and Chris would reach out shortly, and then nothing would happen. This week, a branch fell on our roof, puncturing it in two places. Obviously, the warranty doesn't cover that, but we asked if Champion could repair the damage. After a few phone calls, Chris finally visited our home for the first time. I suppose he saw an opportunity to get paid again. He quoted a price for the puncture repair, and we asked him about the pooling water. His curt and rather rude response was, "That's normal. It's a flat roof. What do you expect?" I pointed at the even flatter carport roof that the same team installed right next to the pooling water and said, "That roof is also flat, but it doesn't hold water." I told Chris that his response was not acceptable. He described what he thought he could do, but said, "It won't fix the problem." He then sent us a proposal costing an additional $500, knowing that by his own admission it would probably be insufficient. We hold that a properly installed roof shouldn't retain pools of standing water for more than 48 hours and that the installation company should fix such deficiencies in their work when they arise. You can clearly see a dip between the edge and the center of that section of roof. Contrary to Chris's claim, it isn't a flat roof. Due to Champion's bad installation, it is a dipping roof. Additionally, when installing the carport roof, the crew did not take care to align their nails to the trusses, so there are long roofing nails poking through the underside of the ceiling in multiple locations. It's quite ugly. To resolve the punctures made by the fallen branch, we hired a different company that came to fix the damage within a few hours (after a single phone call), and they charged us less than half of what Chris quoted us. Clearly, the roof was not installed properly, and we are quite disappointed that Champion refuses to address their mistakes. Other homeowners should beware especially if your home doesn't have a steep roof, if you care about what the finished product looks like, or if you value prompt and courteous customer service.

Once work got started we had cameras set up in our house so we would check up on them from our hotel room. The crew was very messy. They didn't cover any of our belongings while they hung drywall. They left trash everywhere in our house (food wrappers, soda cans). They goofed off, watched videos on their phones and did very shoddy work. I'd say at least a third of their work had to be redone. This was all because of what would be a constant problem: no supervisor on site. EVER. The contractor in charge of our job was never to be seen. He would occasionally stop by first thing in the morning to drop off supplies, but was never around more than 10 minutes. I was in regular contact with him trying to understand why things were taking so long and why they were being done so poorly, but I had to also figure out that he was a "fast talker". He would constantly make deadlines and miss them. Promise things would be fixed, but they wouldn't get fixed or it wouldn't be done correctly and needed to be fixed a second time. This became the common routine since he never inspected any of the work done. He also wouldn't provide his workers with proper materials and they were always back and forth to Home Depot or Lowe's. I can understand running into an issue and needing extra supplies, but this was every day. One day I happened to be home while they were working and they wanted to stop work because they had been given the wrong toe kicks to match our cabinets so I went to Home Depot myself and bought them so they could carry on with other work. It was ridiculous. This also meant that I became the defacto crew leader at times. I had to follow everything they did and make notes of what wasn't done correctly or done at all and report back to the company like I worked for them. Our bathroom needed a new vanity and I had to measure the space for a new one because he couldn't be bothered to. Surprise surprise, my measurement was incorrect because I'm not a contractor (didn't account for outward swinging doors) but he bought a vanity based on my incorrect measurements anyway. Two more days lost This went on and on for months. Meanwhile, my wife and newborn son have been stuck on the second floor because the first floor is a jobsite run by a company with no sense of urgency, but very excited to get paid. I made the mistake of giving them payment up front for the first half of work and I think that had a lot to do with them dragging their heels because once they heard I had a second check from my insurance company they would not stop asking about it. It made me wonder if they were having cash flow problems because they seemed desperate for the money. In case anyone reading this doesn't know already, you DO NOT have to pay up front for ANY WORK. Payments are made when work is done like any other business. But the owners and supervisors at Anderson insist they are entitled to that money immediately. It took a conference call with my insurance adjuster and them to lay things out plainly. They had dragged their heels long enough and it was time to finish the job or not get paid. They magically completed everything in a week.

We also found some random nails for the next few weeks around the perimeter of the house and in the yard. Also, there are a ton of loose nails in the attic. I noticed that when taking out some Christmas decorations. Would I go with AJ Wells again? Maybe, but it would be highly unlikely.

I did not mind.. but I SPOKE TOO SOON. Here what I have been dealing with since MAY 13th till the current day! I made a BIG mistake paying money to K&D roofing without checking the work. Went on total trust. From the first glance, roof looked good. However, when I had a detailed inspection, I noticed that while installing the roof, installers completely damaged the Hardie board sidings of the house that are attached to the garage, broke the brick and did not correctly install flashing causing later on the wood under the roof to decay. Work was still under the warranty, From May 13th till today, July 29th , I have contacted K&D roofing total of 22 times. I had 2 official appointments scheduled. First appointment Rob called and told me that his tire blew up and he cannot come over. I rescheduled. Second appointment he did not show up again and said that he twisted his foot but will show up a few days later. There was no show. I texted him, no answers. I started calling the company and was just giving excuse after excuse. I contacted the company through the portal, but no one called me. I called the company and was told that someone will call me back, but this never happened. I have a compiled list of all the no shows and excuses this company gave me within these 2.5 month. Finally on July 15th, someone from the K&D company called me and told me that he will show up the next day. We agreed on 8AM. The next day I got a call from the person saying he was running late. He finally showed up at 8:30 and here is the story I got. K&D roofing is NOT RESPONCIBLE for collateral damage. They are responsible for the roof, but if they damage something while at it, it is not their fault. I was told that it is mentioned in the contract that I signed. So, the fact that they damaged the siding of the house, broke the brick did not count because it is NOT THE ROOF. He told me that yes, it was his crew that was working there, and they had a hard time pulling old roof and installing the new roof and that is why it happened. There was not even an apology of any kind. He also inspected the back area of the garage where siding and garage meet and where I had a horribly decaying wood and told me that he will follow up with Rob and will be in touch. That was on July 16th. That was my contact #22 with this company. I heard NOTHING back from July 16th. I have a year warranty with K&D.. but what good does it do if they do not show up or basically giving you an excuse for not fixing what they broke? This is the second time I am replacing roof on my property. First time, when I used different company, there was NO ISSUES. When I mentioned this to the person who came in on July 16th, all he told me is that this is because "code changed". So, I guess, 15 years ago "codes where better" and the company I used that time did not damage my property. This time "it is different codes". So, I guess it is OK for K&D damage someone's property. It is ok for K&D avoid customers by not responding to any kind of communications 22 times while the customer is still in warranty. Funny thing, I recommended this company before to my friends and relatives who did the roofs with K&D as well. You would think that this company would respect their loyal customers and referrals they get from them? The answer is BIG FAT NO!!! Once they get the money, they absolutely do not care.
