    Helicopter ride in St. Augustine
    Victoria P.

A group of friends decided to go to st.Augustine for a day trip and this was the highlight of the trip! What a cute and memorable experience! If your looking to do something different and adventurous; this is it!

We see this yellow helicopter fly over us all the time, and we wondered about their tours. A good friend treated us to their best tour (https://www.firstcityhelicopters.com/), which includes the beaches and downtown. It was awesome, and Shalena was an excellent pilot and tour guide! If you come to St. Augustine, we would highly recommend their tour. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CsXjKBbIHsg

Nichole was our pilot and tour guide today for the Anastasia and Old Town tour. She did a great job! And the two other ladies that we met at the counter were very friendly and professional. This was our first helicopter ride and we enjoyed it immensely!

Shalena made us feel so safe yesterday! She was so friendly and very professional. Next time I'll pay to go for a little longer. What a great experience.

This was a ton of great tasting good for the price. The pulled pork was flavorful with a light smokey flavor. Coleslaw was good with a nice slight vinegar bite. Their sauces on the tables in the covered outdoor eating area are awesome! Couldn't pick my favorite between the mustard, spicy vinegar or sweet thick BBQ sauce. They also offer helicopter rides which we saw some people goin on but we didn't have time. Overall, the food was great and a nice lunch spot to grab a bite and sit outside. I would recommend this place to any BBQ/food truck fan!

The owner offered us samples of the homemade smoked sausage that was rich and meaty without being overly spiced. My husband ordered the rib plate and I ordered the chicken plate. Both came with two sides, garlic toast, homemade pickle slices and a cute little cinnamon roll. We tried the hand-cut fries, okra, cole slaw and baked beans. Everything was wonderful and we have enough for a second (and possibly third) meal. Our favorites were the chicken, beans and their sweet sauce (Yum!). You can either take it to go or eat at their picnic tables that are under an awning. It is definitely worth visiting for handmade BBQ done right.

I was assured by The female at the desk that this would be no problem. I arrived on time each day and prepared for flight training. I received 2.9 hours of training and then I was informed they had pre-booked charters and would not be able to accommodate me the rest of those hours. I spoke with the lady at the front desk about this situation and we agreed that I would be billed only for the hours received. I received a partial refund and then within two hours the refund was taken back out of my account and I received a text message from the company that stated the owner didn't feel comfortable giving me a partial refund. This company was fully aware of my situation and did not honor their word. This company took my money under false pretenses, and payment was made for services NOT RENDERED!!!! I immediately called my credit card company and explain the situation and started a dispute. Anyone looking to get there sea plane ratings I would advise from my experience do not use this company. They are not a reputable company and they lack honesty and integrity. Next day I went to Jack Brown's seaplane base in winter haven Florida I was amazed and I found the staff was amazing and most of all had integrity. After two hours of flight time the Cfi was ready to sign me off, but we could not get a DPE that day and I was flying out the next morning. I found Jack Brown's Sea Plane base to be everything that you could ever ask for in a company for Sea Plane operation. I will be going back to Jack Brown's to fly again in the future highly recommend Jack Brown.

It affected my confidence as a pilot and also I had a lot of (unnecessary) financial stress caused by the school and the owner Seth. If you are a new pilot seeking guidance and support, this is not the school to go to! In terms of their actual flight training, I can look back and realize that their instruction was very lackluster. Safety was not a top priority, rather it felt like everyone at the school was there to socialize. Now that I have experience at a new school, I can reflect on policies/procedures that were not implemented at JBA. One of the biggest things being that I didn't have an official personal weather minimums on paper. Frankly, I was a new pilot and didn't know how important this is for solo flights, but JBA instructors failed to teach me this. In fact, the morning before the flight where I had my hard landing, I had texted my instructor expressing concern about the weather/winds and was told I "would be fine". I was also taught to "salvage" my landings when I bounced, and there wasn't a strong emphasis on go arounds. This nonchalant attitude was pretty standard at JBA, which is dangerous when operating an aircraft (especially a student). Additionally, the financial turmoil that JBA and specifically the owner of the school, Seth, caused me was one of the worst parts of this experience. I had the insurance that the school REQUIRED me to have, so I thought that everything would be okay with the school when I had to use said insurance. I was very wrong because Seth came after me personally and sent me a bill for $81,000. He kept calling/texting my personal number even though I made it clear that I wanted everything to be handled with the agent assigned to my case through email. He also kept approaching me at the gym where I regularly go to (and he occasionally goes to) and tried to talk to me about personal matters in a very public setting. Seth's unethical handling of the aircraft damage claim and questionable billing was very disappointing. My conclusion for JBA is that its flight program is severely inadequate and does not promote safety. My experience is proof of that, and Seth's conduct and attitude further confirm my exceedingly low opinion of his operation.
