If you ride. Be ready for the distance. He's going for speed. I enjoy going fast so I thought it was fantastic! They also provide headphones in case the loud motor of the boat moving is too much. Comes with music that I've never heard of, cause when it comes to things like country music, I'm blind. Our speaker, I forgot his name, knew a lot about the area, slowed down many times to enjoy the atmosphere, find animals, and explain the history of the place. He was also funny. Take the early tour if possible if you are worried about the heat. The airboat does go fast at times, so the wind from it keeps you cooler. Wear a sun shirt or lots of sunscreen. Well worth it though for the views, the incredible wildlife and the history. Mother Nature has control over what wildlife you will view not Sea Serpent, so just sit back and enjoy the knowledge, the history and the company of your fellow boat mates. We recently took the airboat tour and overall the wildlife and scenery were great, but there were a couple things I wish had been disclosed before booking. Within the first 5-10 minutes, another airboat from this same company intentionally sprayed our boat while we were sitting still. I ended up completely soaked and spent the rest of the tour in wet clothes and standing water in my Birkenstocks. I read the website and waiver beforehand and didn't see anything saying passengers should expect to be intentionally sprayed by another boat. If that's part of the experience, it should be mentioned so people can wear appropriate clothing or decide if it's for them. It also felt like the two captains were joking around with each other, but unfortunately the paying passengers were the ones who got caught in the middle. One other thing to be aware of: the bathrooms were out of order, leaving only one portable toilet that was extremely full and unpleasant to use. I don't write reviews often, and I'm not expecting a perfectly dry airboat ride. I fully expected some spray from the ride itself. I just think guests should know about these things ahead of time so they can come prepared or choose not to participate. With a few changes, this could have been a much better experience. ****Thank you for the response. I appreciate you confirming that intentionally soaking paying customers, providing unusable restroom facilities, and dismissing legitimate concerns is "exactly what your experience is all about." We didn't know what to expect on this trip but had an amazing time. Our guide Justin, was funny and knowledgeable. It started out relaxing and low key as we went through the no wake zones and once on open water, we revved it up a bit. We heard some cool stories about the area and even learned a thing or two. What a fantastic 90 minutes! Captain Tyler (not Rebecca) was charming, funny, informative and really genuine. The opportunity to experience that kind of water tour was tempting but I wasn't expecting the level of education and entertainment that we received. Purchased voucher through Groupon. Given a hassle to initially book and reschedule (within 2 days of original booking) but fortunately the experience was great! Following voucher instructions, email sent (capt@seaserpenttours.com) but no response received after 1 week so I called. I learned must call to schedule date and time when using a voucher. Male answered phone each time I called to book who was abrupt both times - "must redeem voucher then call back". After a date and time was selected and got confirmation via email (3+ weeks out), I had to change the date within 2 days of original booking. When calling to reschedule, I was advised I did not have "rescheduling" covered -- rescheduling fee/issues were NOT listed on the voucher. Again, I was told to email (capt@seaserpenttours.com) for rescheduling "to see what could be done". I had to follow up with a phone call because no response sent. Fortunately, rescheduled date and time worked out without extra fee or dispute. Once booked, communication via email was great -- address and report time instructions and waiver were clear. Arrived 30 minutes prior to adventure time and checked in easily. Called to airboat on time and captain was GREAT! Had a wonderful time listening to music in headphones and Captain talk about the area. Returned to dock on time. Airboat experience was super! Recommend going late in season to likely see wildlife because temperates in early afternoon in May 2025 were so hot, wildlife was in the shade and not "out and about" -- still had a super time! read more

Very disappointed. We were so looking forward to this - the first experience was getting booted out of our seats to accommodate a large party. NOT cool - we are paying customers and my husband is claustrophobic and needed to sit in the front. He was moved to the seat near the capt in the very back where he inhaled the smoke from the motor the entire 1 1/2 hours. I was in the back and seated behind two men who were much taller than me, making it hard to see. Totally unnecessary and unprofessional. We only saw to alligators, a bunch of birds and turtles (which you can see everywhere, in face we just saw on in our RV park where we are staying) and NO MANITEES. Not worth the money and the captain needs to learn to do better. read more

(To show how much Yelping means to me, our visit here was in August and I'm just getting around to thinking about this now.  Obviously I forgot way more than I remember.) Overall basic impression: If you have never done an airboat tour this one is perfect for you. If you have, I don't know. If you're a miserable SOB like me, I don't know. The website is super easy to use and the marina is very easy to find with plenty of parking and the loading area with their shack right on the water. The tour takes you up the Trout Creek, into Palmo Cove where you kick up a little bit of speed and if it's windy that day you get a nice hemorroid check from some of the bumping/chopping. You eventually make your way a short distance up Sixmile Creek and that's it. What did we see for wildlife that day? Not much. One tiny gator and two or three turtles. Most of the time is spent with a headset on listening to music and a hearing about a few "legends" that happened in the area. The Capt. gave us some basic wiki-type knowledge of the area, gators, boats which overall nicely complimented the experience. Like everything in life, not all things are created equal and not all things resonate the same to everyone. With that said, we did an airboat tour a few years ago with a different operator down in Christmas. That guy and the tour were pretty much perfect and to compare that experience to this one is honestly not fair to Sea Serpent. Why? Because we covered more ground and saw more things all for relatively the same price. I'm an ROI guy so that experience is going to obviously in my mind resonate better. Does that mean that anyone should avoid coming here. Not at all. It's just for me, once was good enough. read more

The online registration is really easy and the location is easy to get to with plenty of parking. You can check in and then wait up at the bait shop which has a large porch with seating and fans. There are drinks and snacks available in the bait shop. You can bring coolers and snacks onto the boat including beer or other drinks. The captains are very cool and provide a great experience. They navigate through the water and point out some wildlife. You have to understand that the time of year will usually determine what you see. We saw lots of turtles and birds and a few baby / juvenile alligators. I live in Florida so I knew we probably wouldn't see much. They play a cool soundtrack over the headset while they are navigating through the water. They do stop for a short period and provide some history of the area. I do wish that they provided more higher speed travel through some marshy or swampy areas. If you are looking for a ride through the swamp and through the marsh then this is t the place. If you are looking for a good airboat ride with a look at some wildlife then it is great. Overall, it is a good experience and the staff was very customer oriented. read more

Incredibly easy to book the tour for my party. When/if you have to call you will 99.99% of the time get a real human. The airboat was very comfortable and rode very well over the light chop of the river. The provided hearing protection doubles as headphones to listen to some well curated music and a few good stories about the area. We got to see some beautiful birds, cute turtles and nice sized gators but the best part is when the captain slows things down a bit and lets everyone enjoy mother nature while gently coasting down the creek. The company is very professional and the people are very nice. As a veteran of 5 other airboat alligator tours in various parts of Florida what I found lacking is the location. The tour only had a wide open river to go up and down. No real marshes or swamp so the wildlife was scarce. If you're traveling to other parts of Florida I would plan a tour elsewhere. If you're only in St Augustine then this tour is well done. My niece liked the ride because our guide sped the boat up and did some fun curves and turns. read more
