We used First Choice Movers today for our cross-Dallas move. This is the second time we've used First Choice, and they impressed us tremendously both times. The gentleman who coordinates your appointment, David, is flexible and communicative. These qualities were extremely helpful as the date of our move changed several times because of our schedule and then because of the ice storm. On packing day, the team of three arrived on time and with all materials. They finished a half-hour earlier than planned as well. Today the team arrived on time to move us, and again they finished earlier than planned. Both work teams were excellent as well. They worked efficiently and carefully, taking care to not damage anything . They guys were also friendly, a real pleasure to have in our home. The price is always fair, too. Not the least expensive but not the most expensive, the service and quality is worth far more than you'll pay. We moved the contents of a four story townhouse into a three story townhouse a few blocks away. The total cost -- packing, materials, labor, moving, garbage take away -- We tipped our packers and movers generously and provided lunch for the moving crew. They worked exceptionally hard and earned it. My husband and I have moved 8 times in 14 years, across the country several times and in town several times. Thought we were getting a good moving company to move from Allen to Frisco based on the assurances of the owner David and the reviews. What a big mistake!!!!! The workers showed up on time, but the truck they use is for apartment size moves, not a 3 bedroom home. Because it was too small, it required two trips. The move lasted pass midnight and we still had to rent a uhaul the next day to finish it ourselves. They tried to load as much as possible into the first trip. As a result, things were so tight that we had an antique oil painting canvas damaged with creases. We had brand new mattress set dragged into the trailer without covering, thus soiling it. As for the professional help assured us. Here is how our 3-man crew turned out. David was the lead. As the move progressed, he was trying to do a lot by himself without any help from the others. As we asked that he be careful with the furniture, he got an attitude. As a result, he would do things like push the door from the garage to the house open with his loaded dolly. We now have a brand new house with a scratched up garage door. He also ran into walls in the new home causing damage to them. We have a baseboard that was broken and damage to our new bed. As the move went on, his attitude got worse. Damage also occurred in the home we sold to the front door and frame as they tried to get the refrigerator out the door. Second person was trying to be helpful but was new and needed a lot of direction from David. His inexperienced resulted in a floral arrangement on a pedestal being destroyed as he pulled it apart to pack. By the end of the day, he spend hours talking to the owner about getting paid and not working. We ended up paying for his unproductivity. Third guy was responsible for loading the truck. During the unpacking, he spent hours retying the straps and folding pads. Again, paid for unproductive moving time. During the second trip, they did not bring enough pads so many of our paintings and lamps could not be moved. Had to rent a uhaul the next day and do it ourselves. As for the owner, David, he said that he would be available by phone during the move. However, when you call he was hard to reach. I went over our issues with him following the move. He was to call me back the next day. 3 weeks later, I am still waiting to hear from him. If you want a moving company that damages your belongings and home, this is the one for you.....In addition, because the move took so long due to the small truck, it cost us twice as much as a regular moving company with the proper size truck..... read more

I had an experience with First Choice that doubled the quoted price of my move. First the job required only TWO movers since I had a small apartment. When the movers showed up I asked David why he sent THREE men. He stated that his 'other' team was running late, so he dispatched his "A" team which consisted of the three. He promised the three would work faster than the two. However, he added a "transportation fee" of $72.00 AFTER the move. Well, I had no choice but to pay them and reported him to BB to no avail. Others later told me that they had experienced the same situation. Makes me wonder about the three reviewers who gave him excellent reviews are related or work for First Choice Moving? My advice is to get a quote in writing and have them stick to it! Burned once. Never twice. read more

Upfront with estimated time/costs/schedule and kept me updated. Three workers who showed up were pleasant, courteous, hard-working and motivated. Very personable, responsive and provided an extremely accurate quote based on the Zillow pictures of our home we were selling in Denton Texas to move us ~3-1/2 hours away in East Texas. Two trucks rolled up on time, exactly when the owner said they would. The four gentlemen that moved us were a pleasure to work with and did an excellent job of playing truck-space Jenga. My wife was in pure amazement that they got everything we asked to be moved into only the two trucks and unloaded in our new home in less time than estimated! One thing that I should point out is that we (mainly my wife) did a majority of the packing ourselves beforehand which saved us several hundreds of dollars in the end. As for the move itself, there were a few boxed that were slightly crushed during the move. However I am certain I could not have done a better job and certainly could not have moved all of the major appliances and furniture as quickly and efficiently as these guys did. Bottom line, if I had to do it all over again, I would certainly use First Choice Moving without hesitation. read more

If I could give six stars I would. I have now used First Choice Movers 3 times. 2 larger home moves and an apartment move. My experience in all 3 moves has been exceptional. Note, I am also very picky when it comes to having my stuff moved. The crews are professional, friendly, courteous and take great care with your things. All my furniture was wrapped in plastic and then wrapped with blankets. This also included my large screen tv which some movers will charge you extra to move. The pricing is fantastic, I compared with several other highly rated movers in the area. A nice touch is they give you the use of wardrobe boxes for free. I spoke directly with the owner David throughout the whole move. This includes planning beforehand and he even called during the move to make sure all was going well. I have moved 6 times and this was, without a question, the worst move ever. The owner of the company asked me how many square feet I was living in and based the estimate of man power needs on that. He had told me that he would send 3 packers and that it was $140 per hour plus a flat fee for tape, etc. with a $500 minimum. He did not say that was $140 per packer. He sent 3 men to pack my apartment and one of them was called "The newbie." The "newbie" spent a great deal of time on his cell phone- so much that I called the owner during the packing time and left word not to send the young man back for the move the next day. However, I was still charged $140.00 per hour for his incompetence. The move itself was a disaster. It appeared that the owner not talked to his packing crew and therefore had no idea how many people to send. My friend who had recommended this company was with me for the move and she said it was the worst move she had ever seen. I have never had so many things broken. I am still finding pieces of lamps, toys, etc that the "newbie" packed in strange places. The owner never offered me insurance. I assumed (my ignorance)that $140.00 per hour per person would included insurance. I would not use this company under any circumstances. read more

I recently used First Choice Moving to move my family from a house to an apartment and some stuff to storage. Unfortunately, my experience was not so pleasant as the process was very long and disorganized. We hired them to pack the all house however they did not finish the job and everything was mislabeled and mixed. Basically, I had to open all the boxes to figure it out what was inside but the boxes were poorly labeled. I have moved from another state before and the process went very smooth unlike the city moving. In a few months we will move again but I certainly won't hire these guys again. read more

Do not EVER use First Choice Movers in Plano to move any of your belongings!!! This past weekend, Jesus, Santiago, & Enrique moved some belongings out of our home and they mysteriously "misplaced" close to 30 pairs of my husband's brand-new, never been worn, collectible shoes, worth thousands of dollars. My husband has been collecting for years and many of the shoes he will probably never be able to replace. Beyond the material items though, the fact that people think it's okay to just "misplace" things from someone's home, and nothing can be done about it, just blows my mind! What a violation! The crazy thing is that they left the shoeboxes behind, but the shoes and receipts were all gone from the boxes when they left the home... They have changed their stories multiple times since about what happened and when my husband called their office to report this issue, Debbie was EXTREMELY rude to him and unwilling to do anything at all! AND apparently Debbie's boss, Dave, is out of town until September. Please, please, please be careful y'all! I have moved between states multiple times and nothing like this has ever happened but these people couldn't even seem to get it right going across town... read more

The movers were not professional. Only one of the three guys seemed to have a little experience with moving. They did not know how to take care of furniture. They left multiple scratches on walls and wood floor. One of the guys was dragging heavy furniture on the wood floor and left major scratches on my brand new wood floor in the new house. They were extremely inefficient. Last time I moved with the same furniture and almost same distance it took less than 5 hours with another company but these guys took 9 hours to do the same job. They were having real trouble moving some of the heavier stuff which I have seen other movers move with ease in the past. Two of the guys hardly did anything in the last two hours as they were so exhausted. The owner claimed that his charges are high because his movers are professional but these guys were anything but professional. I had better experience with other companies in the past and paid a lot less. I am very unhappy about the fact that I pad a lot of money for a very lousy job and now have to spend even more to get my floor repaired. read more

I just called for a quotation and a guy answered and said: "First Choice". I then said: "Can I get a quote?".....he then sarcastically said: "You can" like I was some stupid child. I hope this guy just happened to be at the front when the phone rang and he is usually in the back where customers can see or speak to him. Whoever the manager or owner is: DO NOT let this guy answer phones or deal with customers! I did not get his name but I am sure that his personality and professionalism comes with him where ever he goes. Here is a thought for the manager/owner: I found your company after googling the web, you were the first ones listed. You nor your staff know who I am. I could be a cheapskate OR a multi millionaire business owner that could have very well given your shop a big boost in revenue. But when you have employees with sarcastic attitude and piss poor customer service, you are loosing out on a lot of potential business, all because you have people with shitty attitudes answering the phone. If you happen to care about the quality of your service and for making a profit, I would think twice about keeping employees like the one I just spoke with. Do what many business do and record phone calls for quality assurance. Anyways, you just lost a potential customer and possibly more. I wish I can tell you his name but I'm sure you (managment) know who has the sarcastic attitude at your shop. read more
