Afternoon folks, just came in a couple of minutes ago to get a change of oil since my car was in desperate need in one, they asked if I was going to be waiting there I told them they can call me since they offered to call when it's ready so I decided to walk to Starbucks across the street I seen it was taking a while so I decided to walk back which it was almost an hour when I dropped it off the guy says are you here for your car? I said yes, he then says "oh it's been ready", um wow I thought, I could have gotten it sooner and to find out he is charging me $150 plus taxes so he wanted to charge me $164 and change I ended up telling him that is not what the other guy I had spoken to had said when I arrived earlier, he said it's taxes that $150 was not the total. Then while I'm getting my money out he starts to mention that my boyfriend called crying because the price is way to much which during this whole thing I was informing my boyfriend via text about how much it would be, and I didn't know he called and the employee was laughing about the situation and pointed to the board and the board said $140 something so they have it on the very top in the corner in the right side of the room false advertisement where you can't see you literally need to step over there to see when it should be in clear distance anyways at that point I was upset and didn't say nothing else he looked at me and said they will bring the car out. I started to walk out of the building and some other guy drove it up as I was walking towards my car not close to it yet I can see him getting out of the car and just walking away! Which is very unprofessional anyone could have just hopped in my car and take off since he left it on and left my key by my cup holders didn't even give it to me and didn't acknowledge if I had gotten into my car or nothing. Came to get an oil change two days ago with a friend on a Saturday morning. Was told synthetic oil was able to go 8,000 miles and was recommended. (My car is a 2004 V6 Toyota Camry) Didn't expect the total for a simple oil change to be (62.95 + tax 5.98) to be a total of $68.93. (-1 star) When paying, my friend asked what was the synthetic oil used, David seemed flustered and didn't know what to answer her, so he just rushed for me to pay... 3.5 stars I got my oil changed here today, and I was pretty happy with their service. Davie helped me, and he was very nice. He even walked over to the Carls Jr. next door to ask me if I wanted to change my air filter and to tell me when my car was done. Compared to Northern California prices, this place is very cheap. There are many, many bad firestone shops out there but this is not one of them. You must take into consideration that they are all owned by different people and you cannot assume they're the same. This shop is owned and managed personally by Mr. Gih himself and I can honestly say he is an automotive purist. I had the chance to speak with him briefly while waiting for my car and discovered he is a collector of cars and motorcycles, modern and classic. He is a true gearhead and is actually passionate about his job, which is very rare nowadays. I've brought all of my family's and my own cars here for a few years for both big and small repairs, and the prices have always been reasonable. The guys that work for him are also pretty good. From my experience, the best time to come is on the weekdays. Weekends are always busy and your service will most likely be quicker on weekdays. read more

Been here twice for discounted yelp check-in oil change. First time was amazing. Based on my experience from the second time I will NOT be returning. They did not put back all of the bolts on the plastic trim under the base of my car/oil pan; I noticed it was hanging half off and when I looked under there were several bolts missing. The check engine light also went on the day after the oil change. I changed my gas cap because I thought that was the problem and cleared the codes with my OBD2 reader. I had assumed it was my issue ... but it wasn't, because the lights turned back on shortly after. It turns out that Firestone had unhooked a hose to my engine block when they changed the oil. When I opened my engine it was obviously off. WHO DOES THAT? Maybe they wanted me to return so they could charge me for service. Sketchy sketchy. Thanks but no thanks this is more trouble than it is worth to save $5. Go somewhere else. read more

I had a leak going in my. Car. Stop by here since it's soooo close to my house. They quoted me $600 said I needed all kinds of hoses and seals done. Went to my uncle to get a second opinion. My uncle was furious. Turns out it was only Cap that needed to be tightened. They tried to rip me off. Luckily I double check things out. They took advantage that I didn't know anything about cars. This place is shady business. I let all my family and friends know. I have lived in Rowland Heights for 41yrs. I know alot of people out here. Stay away from this place do yourself the favor. I was referred to Dave from my husband, who has been taking his car here for years. I wanted a mechanic I can trust and Dave is honest and hard working. He will tell you if something needs to be fixed and then put the best item in there. When I first purchased my new car the trunk latch wouldn't open when i pulled the drivers side lever, I took it to my dealer and they told me it was because of valet mode or something so it's working like it was suppose to it didn't seem right and sounded like they were just making stuff up so I asked Dave if he's take a 2nd look and let me know what was wrong, not only did he check it out he fixed it and didn't charge me for it and said it was just a connection issue. I've also purchased tires from home twice now and he's always given a great deal and allows me to drive with confidence. I said well why would you have a sing lit up 30 minutes before you close indicating an oil change in 30 minutes or less? It's hard to find a good mechanic, and now that I've found one, I'm staying a loyal customer. BTW, my husband asked if he could match another shop's price on tires, and he was able to beat the price. As mentioned by one of the previous yelpers Melody, the Carl's Jr next door is a great place to wait. Just visited this place today. A friend referred me here and I'm so glad I gave this shop a try. I failed a smog check and had to get the problem checked out/fixed. I'm always nervous going into an auto shop not knowing exactly how big the problem is because I find mechanics so hard to trust. I also saw David and he was terrific. Gave it to me straight. Showed me exactly what the problem was and they started working on my car almost right away. They charge $40 for diagnostic which they say they'll apply to work done, but the problem is they jack up the price 40% or more compared to other mechanics so you're getting ripped off! We trust this shop with our cars. We had an issue with one of our cars. We had to get our motor replaced, our car is now working better than it originally had been! It's hard to find a place where you can get great and quick service. As well as finding a trustworthy shop. So far this place has been the best. I would recommend going here! Puente Hills Automotive is great. I started going there when it was on approved list for a company car I had and have now taken my personal car there for around five years. David, the owner is extremely honest. I once thought I needed power window repairs which would have been close to 500 dollars and David looked at it and saw I just had missed an adjustment on the window control buttons. No charge. I have had a number of repairs and routine maintenance jobs done and have been greatly satisfied. I think any negative reviews are based on unrealistic expectations, or something similar. Came here since my regular auto repair was closed. Car was making squeaking sound and i hear metal scraping when i turn the wheel at a certain angle. Was hearing it towards the left front wheel. I asked how much the inspection would be and guy said $40 and that can go towards the repairs if they find something. So i agreed. Guy told me that the left front wheel had a nail and to patch is $30 and the rear brakes needs pads quoted me $130. Also said the rotors need to be serviced and that was additional $45. I opt out of getting my brakes fixed since that one i was already going to my regular mechanic for. I told the guy to just do the tire. Little did i know they charged me the additional $30 on top of the $40 after the repair was done. When i told him i thought that the $40 can go towards the repair and i was willing to pay the $40 only for the patch up, guy said that he told me that $40 would have been towards the brakes(don't say you told me that when that was not actually mentioned, all you said in the beginning that it would go towards repairs) should have told me that it was not included and would be an additional $30....... never again....... read more

The best firestone in business! I have been coming here consistently for 3 years (oil changes, tire repair, brake service, and transmission flush), and they never fail to exceed my expectations. As previously noted in other reviews, David is amazing! He is such a sweet man that always welcomes his customers with a sweet smile. Even when I first started going here after I moved, he remembered me each time and greeted me by name as I walked in. (He even remembered me when I called in!) Anyways, the other workers are also great! They are SPEEDY and will even check extra maintenance issues for you. I find their prices very affordable, especially with the coupons available online. David is an honest guy so I'm going to say anything bad about him. He does great work and does it at a reasonable price. However, there are some things that are on the higher price for what they are. When I wanted to change tires, his price was much higher than Costco's. The battery he quoted me for is also much higher than I could find at Pep Boys. There are also other things, like some moderate work done that my wife's vehicle required, that was cheaper at the Infiniti dealer than at David's shop. If you want to get something big done, I would suggest getting a price quote from David and then shop around to see who has the best deal. read more

TRUST the 1 star reviews! STAY AWAY! I don't understand the 5 stars that has been given to this spot. I need to warn every one of you who goes here, THEY WILL TRY AND RIP YOU OFF. I have gone here a couple of times for their early bird special oil change.... 1st time I went, the man behind the counter was an elderly Mexican man that just did the oil change and that was it. This made me go back a few more times but I never saw him again. The next couple of times I went there was an elderly Asian man who (I'm not over exaggerating) immediately began finding reasons to charge me extra for my oil change. Saying something about my filter wasn't the right one for the special given on the oil change or some nonsense. Which I knew not to be true since I had just gotten an oil change there without any of his "reasons" brought up the 1st time (and from knowing my car FYI / Know your car ladies). I regrettably brushed this off as a bad mix up and went back for my 3rd and final time. This time he (the same elderly Asian man) said my coolant was leaking and it needed to be changed immediately. When I asked how he knew this (there wasn't any previous leakage that I had noticed) he showed me some random stain under the hood and said this was how. I unfortunately believed him. Thankfully because I didn't personally know when to know there is a coolant leak I declined his $300 offer to fix it then and there and took it home to further investigate. THANKFULLY I DID THIS. After going online and seeing how to check yourself for a coolant leak (leave a cardboard under your car over night, any stains mean there's a leak for sure) and also asking a mechanic friend of mine, I found out that I was being screwed over BIG TIME (No stains of course after my cardboard test btw). Finally, the last story I have is my fault. I had recommended this spot to my sister in the beginning when I had 1st went there and forgot to update her on my fallout with this place. She went and unfortunately was told the same nonsense about her coolant AND air filter. She ended up forking up about 200 bucks on her car on top of her oil change she initially went for. coincidence? if you're intelligent you'll know it's not. IF that's not reason enough to stay away from this place then good luck.
