The same alternator is publicly available over the counter through AutoZone for approximately $319.99, plus a refundable core charge. What concerns me most is that when I questioned the total at the store, I was given a $100 discount on the alternator price. That means the original pricing would have been even higher. While I understand businesses apply markups to parts and labor, a difference of this magnitude feels unreasonable and inconsistent with fair customer treatment. I also understand the local manager advised that pricing is not set at the store level and suggested I contact corporate. I've had good service here in the past. Some of the technicians are kind in taking time to add air or fix a flat. Today was not the best. I was up charged for every little thing. On top of that, at the end, they charged a shop supplies fee when there were no supplies used. The alignment was probably the best part. It came out great. When I went to use the car later. I found a screw in the sidewall of a tire. Firestone was the only place I had been today. Life happens but people don't forget a bad experience. read more

My tire pressure light kept coming on, so I took it to Firestone on Dykes Road to be checked out. I called first to see if it was OK to stop by and they said yes. They had other cars being serviced when I arrived on Sunday morning and I didn't have an appointment, so I waited about 2 hours from when I arrived until when the car was ready. They found a nail in the tire and were able to patch it. Total cost was only $30, which I felt was very fair. The facility is clean, employees were friendly, there is a TV (volume wasn't on), and I wasn't uncomfortable in their chair during the wait. I'm so happy Firestone was open on Sunday so I could get this repaired before I need to drive in the upcoming week. read more

Poor people skills behind the counter. After paying my bill, I just needed my keys so I could leave. A customer who was in the waiting room sidetracked the attendant who was helping me as my transaction was being finished. Several minutes later (and after saying, "I just want my keys" - twice), I was told the other customer was there before me implying that I would have to wait. I was clearly upset. My voice wasn't raised but I was visibly upset. Duany who wasn't even helping me chipped in with the coup de grace: "We run this company. You are the customer." Floored. My jaw dropped, and I was floored. That statement is amazingly rich and could be interpreted many ways. Duany's purpose in making that statement, however, was clear: "Stay in your place. We determine what gets done and when. Shut up and wait." Thirty more seconds and my transaction would have been done. Thirty. Seconds. At that point, my wife, who had followed me over and had a car full of kids, would have been able to leave in our other vehicle (I asked her to follow me home). Thirty seconds turned into several minutes. That's the root cause of this unfortunate exchange. I can get over a lot. Paying $800 for a $49 inspection and a $100 part is the nature of the beast in auto repair, especially with large repair shops with big overhead. I get it. I also understand having to wait several minutes in the lobby before anyone acknowledging me or saying, "we'll be with you in a second." It's less than ideal but I can handle it. However, being talked down to as a customer is bad form under any circumstance. I suspect every single-star rating on Yelp is well deserved. FOR MANAGERS REFERENCE: WORK ORDER #224399 I am the fleet manager of a very large refuse company in Broward County, Florida, Southwest Ranches area. Not being satisfied with the oil change shop were using for our support vehicles (pick-up trucks), we decided to give the business to this Firestone. We called in advance and asked for a timeframe. They told us an hour. two hours and 20 minutes later the route manager is just now leaving. When I called the FS to ask what was going on they got rude with me. He said, "a typical oil change was at least an hour, and they also have to do the paperwork". How can the draining and filling of 7 quarts of oil and the replacement of a single filter take an hour? Then he said, "there were customers there before him", which if fine, however there was one customer there when he arrived, two more came in after him, and he was still there after all 3 had left. The tone of voice and the way he handled it was unprofessional. Additionally, they put the tire pressure on the receipt, that we had to ask for, of all 4 tires at 7 PSI, the tires have an 80 PSI max requirement, but a low PSI of 72 PSI and when we checked them after his return, they were at 37 PSI. Claimed that the radiator was leaking, it is not (we are a maintenance shop) and checked, and lastly, they put 1000 miles on the sticker to return for his next oil change. Unbelievable. I have contacted our procurement manager, and we will be looking into canceling the contract with Firestone state wide here in the Florida market area. They have lost our business. Hire people who care for the customers, business will grow, treat them poorly, cheat them on work and they will flock to other companies. read more

Do not go to this location. The first time we were there they said our car would be ready in a couple hours. We came back at the end of the day and they had not even touched my car. They quickly did our alignment. Now less than 3 months later my tires are all chewed up on the inside. That would not happen if they would have aligned the car properly. I took it back to them and they are not willing to do anything to make up for ruining my new tires. They tried to say that it's a common problem with BMW. They are crooks! Don't go there! Update: I've reached out to corporate and emailed as suggested by the response from reputation management below. Hopefully, they will do the right thing and replace my tires for their negligence. Update #2 After wasting my time. This place is still blaming my car. That it's a common problem with BMW and Mercedes that they eat the tires on the inside. Do your homework. This place has several reviews with people claiming the work was never actually done. They never aligned my car! My paperwork is even wrong. But they said that's because the machine just prints it that way, but that the work is done off the vin. Such a load of BS. Why give me a receipt if the info printed on it is wrong. Also, don't believe the smoke and mirrors from reputation management online saying that they can take care of you and to contact them. Took my vehicle to get four new tires and alignment. Issues: 1) Never got a call when vehicle was completed. I had to call them before close only to be told it had been ready for hours. 2) When I got my vehicle home, I noticed the emblem on my rim was missing. I called the shop and they said it was never on. This is not true, but I was able to pick up a new one for $6.00 and repair it. 3) I got the vehicle home and parked it for five days. When I went to start the vehicle, the battery was dead. Never had this issue before and saw someone else comment about this happening to them. 4) Went to try and remove the lugnuts and when I went to remove the locking lugnut you can tell they used an impact wrench to tighten it. These are not impact wrench rated nuts and it resulted in the key stripping. I had to buy an emergency tool to remove. This is just too many wrong things to happen after one visit. I ordered four (4) tires online and scheduled an appointment for installation. I called to verify the appointment and Juan told me the tires were in stock and to come in to have them installed. I drove right over and was advised by Juan they no longer stocked these tires but they had the same size I needed in stock for thirty dollars ($30) more each. Waited over 8 hours for an oil change. How ? Just tell me you don't have time or don't feel like doing it. Was lied to several times about wait time. Was told at 12 pm that there's only an hour left. Was told at 2 pm there was only about 30-45 minutes left. What???? After getting my car the tire pressure light came on as well, what a surprise. I check my tires and apparently they filled my tires all up to 35 psi. Again... why??? Had to bring them all down to 32 psi like it says my car needs. Watched him use the torque sticks to put them back on and he used a torque wrench at at 80lbs. Got home and was able to easily remove the lug nuts. Danny did a great job. My friend Janet needed new tires on her Santa Fe, I recommended The Firestone shop nearby at 6500 Dykes rd, Southwest Ranches, Fl Got pricing, she dropped off car and I drove her home, Shortly after, they called and told her she needed new front brake pads and rotors, I got on phone asking if the rotors could be refaced 'No they are to worn and grooved" Janet told them to do the work. When drove her to pick up her SUV, I put the charges on my Firestone card, then demanded the pads and rotors removed from Janet's vehicle. Told "We threw them out" [me] "Ok, lets go get them out of the dumpster" upshot, got pads and rotors, Told Janet to go home, then took the rotors to Auto Zone. pads mic'd at 3.52 mm, so they were worn but still working They checked make/model/year before using their micrometer on the rotors. Told me "There's very light wear and rotor thickness indicated they've never been resurfaced and because they're off the car, we can do them for $10 each" Thanked them , then went to auto machine shop I knew over off US 7 in Hollywood Fl. They checked make/model/year and even cross referenced the VIN before measuring the rotors, "Neither rotor is really worn, be no problem to do them for you, quoted $43 included their $25 bench charge. Went back to Firestone, told them what I found was told 'too bad' Called the National Headquarters, transferred to correct office Told the the whole thing and that I had documentation of all of it. Not long after,Firestone shop called and told me to come in, they would refund to my credit card.. They refunded the $301.98 for the rotors but refused to refund the $166 labor charge. They wanted me or suggested to change rear brakes and wheel alignment for $1,218.63. Charges for labor $638.95, parts $464.95 plus $35 for shop supplies. In addition, oil change and flat repair $163.05; the total bill was going to be $1,381.68. I don't know if it has something to do with my age, am 79 years old, or I look likes like a fool. I took my car to another place and I had the rear bake and wheel alignment for $360.00. When I arrived to this place there was a guy who came in at 8:30 am and I left at 12:45 pm, he was still waiting for his flat tire to be repair and windshield wipers to be change. Car's A/C wasn't working so I took it for inspection. Total estimate for parts and labor was for more than $2,600. Their quote for parts was more than $1,300 so I Googled the part numbers and found several known and reputable auto parts stores with prices averaging a third of Firestone's quote for parts. Long story short, ended up replacing the same parts quoted and my grand total with labor was $740!! That's 72% cheaper than Firestone's quote!! Are they crazy? Long gone are the days that auto shops had carte blanche to rip customers off and I strongly recommend reviewing any quotes because the Internet has made it that much easier for us consumers to avoid such rackets. We left the car and went home in the hopes that all would be ok as it had been in the past. I got a call from this shop shortly after arriving home requesting authorization to perform a myriad of other tasks which they deemed the car needed. I declined and we went to pick up the car. To our dismay the vehicle which we drove in for an alignment, now would no longer even start. We asked what had happened and the manager came out and quickly diagnosed it with a bad starter whose replacement he estimated would hover around $500 dollars including labor. We asked for some sort of discount or help since this had happened under their watch. He vehemently refused to help or take ownership of any part of the situation. He became rude and borderline belligerent and proceeded to tell us to contact corporate if we felt like doing so, that he would win regardless. I am writing to let someone know how Firestone employees treat their customers. When I arrived I had no problem and the staff was very friendly. I spoke to Renel, he was very nice. I was originally going to wait for my vehicle as I stated on the online appointment and I arrived and was told it was going to take four hours. I decided to leave my car, my mistake. When I arrive, I pick up my car and leave. I asked them to put two new tires on my car and perform an alignment. When I look at the before and after of my alignment it seems as the "master technician" just set the toe and let it go. I call today to speak to the staff in regard to this because the alignment was going to cause irregular tire wear since it was so off. The man who answered the phone listens to my issue and then asked me to hold so he can speak to his technician. When he gets back on the phone he automatically asks me if "I know what coil-overs are". I have had coils on my car for years, obviously I know what they are. He was speaking to me in that demeanor because I was a woman. This man was trying to tell me that because I have coils on my car my alignment cannot be adjusted. If that was so, then how did they set the toe and nothing more? Did they think they would be able to get away with a mediocre job because I was a woman and was not going to argue that they didn't perform the job correctly. The man then continued to inform me that since the coils were on they couldn't do anything. First they can't make adjustments to my alignment, but then he said only do my toe. I have taken my car to many different shops and they have been able to successfully align my car very similar to specs. The man kept telling me that Mario, his master tech who performed the work was the best and that I was wrong. He continued standing by whatever Mario said. Also, my car is equipped with adjustable arms. Did Mario notice that? Adjustable arms are there so he can adjust the car. The specifications of my alignment were almost exact to what it came in with. My question to Firestone is, have all your technicians been certified by Hunter? They obviously are lazy or do not know how to use an alignment machine. I pity anyone who pays to have alignments done there and don't know how these employees aren't adjusting anything to get people to come back constantly for tires since the camber and caster is always off. I am appalled by the treatment I received and I do not wish this service on anyone. The fact that the man on the phone was speaking down to me and didn't even offer any help was ridiculous. We are paying for a service and it not being done, and then the employees get upset because we complain. I really hope someone looks into this. Customers deserve better service. read more

Purchased 4 tires a month and a half back. One of the front tires of my car burst while driving. We took the car to carmax and they said that it is a manufacturing defect. Went back to Firestone and the manager refused to accept it is a manufacturing defect. He said that we hit something to cause a gash. We started reasoning with him and asked him how can he say that. He is saying that he doesn't have to prove it to us. This is not a way to treat a customer. Just shirking away from the liability. Not willing to give his superiors name. I came in last week due to an Abs light and brake light coming on dealt with a guy named kendal, he was hustling all the way, came back and told me that he could not clear the codes and I needed to go to a dealer and he gave me the codes he got, i requested that they do a physical inspection as the sensors might be bad and I wanted the re assurance that there was no brake problem. he went to the back and came back in 5 mins to advise that they had already done that and there was no brake problem, just get the dealer to clear the codes and maybe the sensor was bad. I went to the dealer and was advised that the speed sensor was bad, the hydraulic unit was bad and that the front brakes and rotor needed to be changed, I came back to Firestone and met the same guy Kendal and asked if they are trying to kill me, his response was that he had not charged me to check the brakes as it was a courtesy l,I requested a quote to change the brakes in front and the quote was $200.00 more than the dealer. Worst garage in Broward!!! Incompetent staff and mechanics. The mechanic inspected my car and the manager gave me a printed quote for the parts and labor needed to resolve the problem. The manager said it would take 3 hours and they had access to all of the parts. I agreed to have the work done. I get a call 4 hrs later and was told that the quote, parts and labor were all incorrect. The new parts would take weeks to find and that they couldn't do the work. It was for the suspension on an American made car!!! I was warned about this place and now have first hand knowledge that they shouldn't be allowed to touch cars. Run from this place!! FYI- I went to another garage down the street in Weston. They gave me the correct quote on the first try and found the parts the same day, weird. read more

They simply checked my "tire light" because I told them something was wrong -- and I wanted a price to fix. The price was hefty (241), so I passed on fixing. They still charged me 50 bucks to tell me what I already knew (that the sensor was bad!) even though they fixed nothing! It didn't look like she Han any appointment but that was not the issue. It makes no sense to make an appt and not be called if the wait is a hour and a half long due to them not being able to finish other cars yesterday.
