I frequent the convenience center in Kodak and couldn't help but notice a huge sign advertising Jim's Automotive. I called Jim and he stated that he did that type of work (I've always supported local small business) so I booked the job with him. Now please understand that I am ASE CERTIFIED Technician with 40yrs experience. I booked this job with Jim as I am new to the area and do not have a lift available to me to do this job. The work was done on 5-1-26 On 5-26-26 my truck suddenly began to shake at high speeds and shudder at low speeds. This is text book tell tail sign of a torque converter pump fins falling apart. Upon speaking with (what I would imagine) be Jim's service writer it was confirmed to me that they used a remanufactured torque converter. These used parts have a 30% failure rate. From 2017 thru 2022 I was the Mgr of A Oreilly Auto Parts store 5227 in Miami Florida and never recommended any reman part to a professional shop due to their failure rate, this being a starter, alternator, a/c compressor and least off all a torque converter. The difference in price is minimal but the quality is monumental. Shame on me for not seeing any ASE signage and not following what I preach. Only allow fellow ASE Certified technicians work on my vehicles. Jim gave me a total BS story that what I was feeling was a misfire from the motor. He stated the the torque converter showed no sign of failure and would not be honoring the warranty. This is typical shade tree mechanic excuse. Do not recommend this place for any type of serious work. If you need any type of serious work done on your vehicle go to Ricks in downtown Sevierville.

They double charged me on parts to the tune of about $1700, said they did work they didn't do, and did some work so poorly that the parts failed and could have killed me in a wreck as a result. I want to start by saying, for the good, is that David and most of the other staff there are really…read moregreat. David is very helpful and very kind. Oil changes anything like that they do a great job on. Now for the bad, I've been going there and getting my tires rotated for a while now. I even bought at least two of the tires there. Just last time I was told that they could not and would not rotate my tires because there's a date on there of a year and that they could no longer rotate anything more than five years old. I was real disappointed because this was going to be the last time they were rotated and then I was going to invest fairly soon in New tires from there. When I questioned why in all these terms that I've had them rotated nobody suggested that this would take place. I'm basically was told that this is possibly a new rule for the company. And it was most likely not dislocation's fault. So my suggestion? I will always recommend an oil change there. But I've kind of got a bad taste in my mouth now over the tires and the fact that I pretty much made the appointment and was pretty much to know because of something the company has decided. I promise for sure. I will continue going there for my oil changes because I would never ask for a better experience with oil changes.

I was vacationing in Pigeon Forge in June 2026 when I made a mistake on one of the narrow mountain…read moreroads and slipped off the edge of the pavement. A day later, my car started making a strange noise, and I immediately began to worry. My first instinct was to find a Firestone because it was familiar, but something told me to look for a local mechanic instead. That's how I found Rick's. Even though they were absolutely slammed that morning, the staff welcomed me as a walk-in. The lady at the front desk quickly found someone--who I believe was Rick himself--to take my car for a test drive. When he returned, he asked me to give him a few minutes to find an open lift. About twenty minutes later, they had diagnosed the problem, made a minor adjustment to the subframe, and had me safely back on the road. While I was waiting, I couldn't help but notice how the service advisors treated their customers, especially several elderly folks who came in. They were patient, respectful, and took the time to explain everything clearly. That kind of customer service has become all too rare, and it created an atmosphere that immediately put people at ease. What impressed me most wasn't just that they fixed my car. It was that, despite being incredibly busy, they were willing to stop what they were doing to help a stranded traveler they had never met. That says a lot about the character of this business. I'm truly grateful for Rick's. If they were in my hometown, they'd have my business for life.

He said it was the starter. She jumped her car to drive it down there no problem. When John called the next day, he said they can't jump it even if it's in neutral. He said if she wants to take her car to get another opinion, she would have to get it towed. So she had it towed to the Honda dealer on parkside. The Honda dealer told her that the water splash plastic panel is missing from her car and the starter sensor is burnt out completely. When she called to Firestone and spoke to John about the water panel, he said he would put it back. Then when she personally stopped down there, another man that worked there said he never had the water panel, never saw it and they don't steal! When we jumped her car before taking it down there, the water panel was clearly in tact. This place is shady and when they found out she didn't want the work done there, they purposely broke the starter and stole her water panel. Beware of these criminals. They took advantage of this old lady and were smiling and laughing when she went down there to ask questions. Them breaking her car, cost her over $2,000 At the Honda dealership. This Firestone was convenient to her home and she wanted to keep her business local, but what a joke! She will be contacting corporate and filing a police report for the stolen water panel. If it has to go to civil court over $500, she will prosecute. Hopefully, they can reach out to her and find her "missing" water panel before garage day on Friday. This is bad business and taking advantage of the elderly. I'm fuming mad for my lovely neighbor.
