I took my wife's car in a few weeks ago for an oil change. Got it in nice and early at 8 am. I wondered why I did not receive a phone call all day like I usually did. I finally called them around 4 pm. They said my car would be ready by 5:30. When I went to pick it up, the employees were all excited about sacking one of their employees. Though I had asked for a multi point inspection, it was not done. The employee I asked to do it said I never asked to do it. Now, at another shop, I discovered that Firestone neglected to replace an important gasket for the oil filter and I was leaking oil. I will never go back there! read more

This place was super professional. I called in to have something checked out on my care and they got me in the same day. The staff was super friendly and made sure to communicate with me through the entire process. The car inspection was only $10 plus tax. They checked out everything from the axles, breaks, engine and more. I picked my car up the same day. Cool place. I was having an awful, stressful time trying to get my car towed when I called this store. I spoke to an older man named Chris (maybe Christopher?) who was SO helpful and patient as he helped me set up an appointment. He also helped me figure out a few things on my car to streamline the process for when it finally made it to the store. I know they were super busy, and the fact that he stayed on the phone with me for a few extra minutes made a huge difference in my day. Get a second opinion, or just don't go at all. ...Especially if you're a young woman. They tried to charge me almost $400 to fix something that wasn't broken. My car was drivable, but they told me to drop it off for repair. They kept my car for almost a week saying that it would be done a certain day. When I called for an update to see what time I could come and pick it up, they informed me that they hadn't even received the part. So for almost a week my car was sitting at the shop for no reason. When I went up there to pick up my car, to use it over the weekend, they offered a discount as an apology for the inconvenience and miscommunication. When I asked for a receipt / record of the plan for repairs, the numbers didn't add up. Asking a few more questions, the "discount" that was offered was significantly reduced. I decided to get a second opinion, and the almost $400 repair that they were saying I needed, turned out to be a $50 fix and was in and out of another shop in less than an hour. read more

I maybe in the minority here, but this Firestone store handled my situation very well. My tire pressure light came on for the millionth time while driving around town. So I passed this store to see what was going on and possibly have some air pump into it. After the employee put some air in, he clued me in on what was going on with one of my back tires. I had a nail stuck in it the whole time! Instead of getting a brand new tire, manager offered to patch it up at a decent price. Wait was about 45 minutes on a busy Sunday morning. This is my first time at this Firestone Auto store at the corner of South Highland and Poplar. It was a Wednesday morning, and I had a flat tire and barely made it to the store. Service was courteous and prompt, and I was on my way in no time at all. I would definitely come back and use their services again. P.S. Can not recommend. Took my truck in after my A/C went out. I recharged my AC and performed a dye check before taking it in, and asked twice (once when dropping off and once when they called to quote a price) that they simply replace the condenser unit and let me recharge it myself when they were done. I was quoted just under $400 for the condenser, which is steep but I agreed. Showed up and my bill was $643... with charges for $200 in Freon and charges for a dye test. Let me begin by saying I was a customer of this establishment for 3 years. At that time, they were excellent. Good service, decent prices, and speedy. My last two experiences there were enough to completely turn me away. I went in because my car was having trouble starting. Everything came on but it would grind and grind without starting. Sometimes it wouldn't even grind. They immediately decided it was the starter and replaced it. When I got the car back, it still sounded rough. The car ran for half a day and then stopped again. I went back to Firestone and told them what happened. They continued to insist that it was the starter and they just did a bad job it. They did offer to fix it for free. When I returned the car actually sounded WORSE! So I went in to tell them and the man at the counter that I didn't feel comfortable taking that out on the road. The guy actually looked ANNOYED that I wanted him to come outside and look at this car again. He said the belts were loose. So I asked him to tighten them. He was reluctant, but agreed. I got my car back and the next day left on a business trip to Kentucky. Surprise, surprise, the car completely reverts yet again at this time, with me out of state. Long story short (too late) I end up at the Nissan dealership in Paris, TN who inform me that the starter had nothing to with it and the issue was actually the sensors. So there we go... incorrect diagnosis, rude service, and a willingness to let a customer take a mis-repaired car out on the road. I should say that the staff of this particular Firestone used to be good, but those days are gone and I can't make it clear enough that my association with Firestone is over. read more

Usually I have great experiences here until my last visit. I bought four brand new tires here and the tires are covered for a certain amount of miles. Unfortunately my car had a nail in the tire.. Yes, I was freaking out. I had to take it to firestone. I told the guy there is a nail and to make sure to check all the other tires too. Sunday, I took my car to firestone at 2:00. Technician told me he would contact me. By 4:00 I was getting worried. Store closed at five. I contacted the store and they told me my car should be done before five. That my car was next. Small patch work shouldn't take that long. Still no phone call at 450. I decided to go up there. I asked the technician about my car and they stated they haven't started on my car. Oh course I was furious! I told the guy to make sure that his answer was correct and a second later he tells me it's done give them five minutes. I was in no rush because I left it there. But for someone to tell you that your car was in great condition and all the tires were checked was a lie. As soon as I got to my car I started my car and my husband took a look at my tire. How come the nail was still in my tire? I knew it was a Sunday and the technician were tired but to really tell a lady that all tires were checked and everything is in greAt condition is messed up. While moving cross-country, we had a blowout late in the day. We switched to the spare (temporary donut) but we still had another 600 miles to make it to our hotel for the night. The team at Firestone Memphis took us right before they closed for the day and turned our tire repair around in mere minutes. 1/13/2018 - Store manager Jeremy was not very professional while dealing with a tire replacement I needed for my front passenger side. When my tire arrived the next day no one called to notify me. Instead of apologizing right away and empathizing Jeremy was more interested in what "HE" did right and made it seem there was no reason for me to feel unsatisfied because my standard of customer service is too high. Quote: "You're unsatisfied because you didn't get the customer service you thought you should have received." End quote. But later admitted the reason I wasn't contacted because HE failed to leave my name and number for the crew in the morning to notify me and came to work late (blames road conditions:snow,rain,ice) How rude of him to let me think I was overreacting and shouldn't hold him accountable. Extremely manipulative. Jeremy finally said sorry but only while trying to get away from me back into the bay area where the other cars were. If this is how this location s manager is going to treat me every time I need my tires replaced (Ive been a customer there for 6yrs and now own a second set of tires from them. Warranty and road hazard included, so I'm not new to this location). I don't want to ever come back until they get another store manager or send Jeremy back through his training of managerial 101 customer service! However, Brandi was awesome! She was the first person to greet me. She even took the time to share with me her knowledge of tires and prices when (IF) I consider purchasing my third set. Brandi is pleasant. Brandi is smart. Be like Brandi. I must also add, years back when Jason and Jeff were store managers at this location they were amazing for their customer service. this is what won my trust over with Firestone. Spent 3-1/2 hours waiting on 4 new tires to be installed. Had an appointment. They we're even busy. They stripped 2 studs, which I had to pay an extra $65.57 (plus tax) to replace. Then they presented me with a "laundry list" of items (front wheel bearings, tie rod end(s), rack and pinion, coolant, engine air filter, spark plugs, wiper blades, etc.), which had to be replaced. The "wiper blades" made me suspicious, because I had just replaced them 2 days earlier, on March 26, 2018. I refused to authorize the extra parts/labor, totaling almost $1450.00, and went straight to my mechanic from Firestone. My mechanic said that my car didn't need any of that work. I will never go to Firestone again, and I wouldn't recommend Firestone to my worst enemy. read more

I took it to a trusted shop that my father recommended, and it turns out Firestone forgot to put my oil cap on, so the tank was completely empty and the oil spewed all over my motor. I sent my 25 year old son in to get his tire plugged. He had been visiting us, when his tire starting slowly going down for some unknown reason. We put a fix a flat in it, and he went to this establishment to see what was wrong with his tire (nice Good Year tires in good shape). He was told by the first employee, "Oh, you put fix a flat in there? It's over. It's a done deal. You HAVE to BUY a new tire!" I tell my son that he obviously miscommunicated or misunderstood. So, my son goes to a totally new, separate employee, who tells him word for word the same thing! I tell my son to get in his vehicle and leave immediately! Surprise, surprise. I direct my son not half a mile down the street to Gateway Tire. They were fast and friendly and stated that the fix a flat was not a problem, that it would just depend on where the hole was as to whether or not they could plug it. They immediately checked the tire, found that there was a small nail in it, and fixed it in no time flat. Guess what else? They charged him NOTHING. They stated that this is just what they do. So, my advice is AVOID THIS FIRESTONE IF YOU CAN! They are obviously out to take advantage of young, inexperienced people and / or just out to sell tires. I am hoping that this is just a corporate policy, and that the employees there have no choice. In which case, I would still avoid this establishment. It is an example of what is wrong with this world today. Well, the manager did call me back. He stated that they "patch" tires, and they do not "plug" tires at all. He advised that the patch adhesive will not stick on the inside wall of the tire once fix a flat has been put in it. I would only add that NONE of this was even mentioned to my son. I decided to replace my tire and there wasn't any pressure to choose another option (such as replacing multiple tires). The estimation process took less than 5 minutes. After delivering car for a flat repair, I returned after 5 hours to find that they "could not repair the flat and my battery was cracked and leaking battery fluid". Recommend a new set of tires even though the tread rating was 6-7/32 and new battery for just under $1,000. Took it home, put on the spare and took it to another tire store. Fixed the flat for $15 and found nothing wrong with the battery. This place is a ripoff. Avoid it. read more

Like many of these reviews, I've had a poor experiences here. First, I went for an oil change. The manager happened to be helping me. He warned that they were busy and the change might take 1.5 to 2 hours. Though that's a steep wait, I accepted it for not wanting to find somewhere else - plus I've used this Firestone many times before. I didn't have another ride, so I waited at the shop. THREE AND A HALF HOURS LATER they finally changed the oil - way over the estimated time, and no one had updated me while I waited. Before I could even complain the manager offered me a free oil change on my next visit. Nice of them to acknowledge their mistake, but they shouldn't have charged me then and there. Nonetheless, I go back 3 months later to cash in the free oil change and get a courtesy check because I was taking a road trip. I was one of 2 customers in the store, the wait time would be 45 minutes. However, after 1.5 hours I could still see that my car wasn't even in the garage. I look around and notice that all the employees are just standing around chatting. Again, didn't bother to check in with me. My guess is they weren't motivated to service a car they weren't making money off that day - curtesy checks are usually free and they owed me a free oil change - and wanted to screw with me. I finally decide to go up to them and they ignored me - they clearly couldn't be bothered mid-conversation. After finally getting their attention I asked for my keys because of the ridiculous wait. They said i was next in line if I had an extra 20 minutes. I said no, I've waited long enough, and asked for the keys again. They obliged, but didn't bother to amend the situation. I cannot say enough amazing things about these guys. I recently moved to Memphis and don't have too many people on my "help list" yet, so when I got into my car yesterday and it refused to start, I panicked. Everyone that I know was either out of town or unavailable, and while I like to consider myself a capable gal, car issues fall weeeellll outside of my comfort zone. After sitting in my car numbly for a few minutes, I looked into my rearview mirror and realized that there was a Firestone across the street. I went in and told my story, and the service manager BARRY WILLIAMS was just amazing; he went above and beyond in every way. He and his techs, Justin and Jonathan, tried to jump my car (which didn't work), brought over a battery tester (it was fine), attempted to make the starter catch (didn't work) and finally called around for me trying to figure out if it was still under warranty - a process that took up around two hours of their time altogether (in mid-summer Memphis heat, no less), and everyone stayed ridiculously pleasant and positive. Meanwhile, the store was about to close, so we finally decided that a tow truck was in order. Not only did Barry give me the number of the tow company they use, he waited with me - well after closing - until the tow truck arrived, and then made sure that I got home safely. These guys are such a rare find - just amazing, amazing, amazing - I'll never take my car anywhere else in Memphis. read more

I have used this shop a few times over the past year. The first experience was pretty good, and I returned the past two times because of its convenient location. Most recently, I went in early on a Sat. morning because I wanted my brakes checked. I was told they were backed up from the day before but I could make an appt. for noon. I took the noon appt., brought the car back, and was told they probably wouldn't get to it until around 4 pm. They said they would call when ready to be picked up. Needing the car for a trip the next day, I went with it. The car was ready around 6 pm. I was informed I would need some additional work, and everything was said to be fine. They said they would even rotate the tires for me. To make a long story short, they almost killed me and three kids with me over the weekend trip. 2 Lugnuts were left off a front tire, one off the back. While on the highway, the steering wheel was bouncing around like crazy and the rumbling noise became deafening. We had to pull over and wait for highway patrol and a tow to local auto repair place. They took a look and said the front tire was just about to fall off!!! They couldn't believe it. I called this Firestone to let them know what they had done (or, more accurately, failed to do). They were extremely apologetic, and the next morning, back in town, the manager called, said to bring the car in and that they would refund all of my expenses and refund the more than $400 I paid for the work 2 days prior. After a two hour wait, I was told everything was fine, but then backpeddled on my refund. Said they would give me $200 credit to use. Why would I ever go back??? They almost killed us. I said that was not what I had been promised, and, ultimately, I did get a full refund. I believe they are well intentioned, but don't consider that packing in more customers leads to careless and shoddy work. I would never trust this place again. read more
