The mechanic lied and said I had a headlight out and suggested they replace it. Tried to refer me to another shop that would've look at the computer modules to address overheating when he said the cooling fan was broken...instead of just replacing the cooling fan. That shop would've been a 3 week wait and more expensive. I took my car to a different local shop (Thong's) and they replaced my cooling fan. Simple as that. Only reason I give 2 stars instead of 1 is because they didn't charge for the diagnostic. Probably because they're in pocket with the referred shop. Whether that last part is true or not, I don't recommend them. Lied about the little stuff and the big stuff. read more

Wow! I am so thoroughly impressed by this company. My car was pretty beat up for over a year and I kept putting off having it fixed. I had previously gone to Gateway Auto for 7 years and just was not satisfied by their work any longer. After many recommendations, I decided to try Barton's. Called to get a quote on how much it would cost to fix a simple sensor in my car and they refused to give any quotes over the phone. I'm not from the Memphis area and was was trying to find a decent mechanic in the area but the staff was rude about not giving quotes and that I would have to have them run their own diagnostics on my car before I would be given any quotes. So whenever I take my car in, there are always more than a few things that could use repair. The guys at Barton's are never pushy nor do they try and sell me something I do not need. They prioritize what needs to be fixed now and what can wait. They have always used quality parts and I have never had to return to have a repair issue "repaired again". I refer all my friends and family to Barton's. Be sure to call and warn them you are coming and try your best to get there very early. They are a great shop and they stay busy. While you are over there, pop into Fresh Slices. Service at Fresh Slices can be iffy sometimes but the food is excellent! read more

The gentleman told me sir "if I open you car door the charges start", it's nothing major; I would suggest you visit your guys (honest fellow). These days, most folks looking for the "best deal", it seems; especially in my case, the "best deal" doesn't always work out. Thus the reason we trust Barton's and their staff for our car care needs. I first took my car to Barton's about 4 years ago. It had sounded like an aeroplane for a few years. I had taken it to 3 other reputable mechanics in Memphis prior to this, each charged me close to $1000 to work on it (once per year) and the sound remained. I had asked each of the other mechanics to drive with me in the car to hear the noise, but none of them would do so. As soon as I explained the problem to Erik at Barton's he said, drive in the car with me and you can point out the noise. Within a few minutes he said he thought he knew what the problem was and fixed it completely for under $300. Needless to say, my family have been going to Barton's ever since. This place is great! My car door wouldn't shut this morning, so I drove to Barton's. I was afraid that I need to get a part replacement. I was immediately greeted when I parked.
