I recently had my front brakes replaced at this location and was impressed with their attention to detail and professionalism. I received a phone call after my vehicle was inspected and was not subjected to the typical 'upselling' that occurs at some shops. Joyce was to the point and factual with the status of my brake system, and let me know that while the rear brakes were noisy, they did not require replacement at that time. I like going to this place because it is close to where I live and I can walk there to pick up the car. But this is the third time that simple tasks have been done improperly. Two times was an Oil Change. 1. Most recently, they did not tighten the cap for the oil in the engine, so my car was leaking oil. I took it somewhere else and they told me that the cap was about to come off and that whoever changed the oil did not tighten the cap. The other mechanic ( further away) tightened it for free. 2. About 3 months I had the tires balanced and rotated since I purchased the tires there (I have been a regular customer for tires and oil changes and other types of car issues for 8 years). They did not tighten the lug nuts on the one of the wheels and it wobbled till I pulled over to discover that 2 of the lug nuts had come off and one of the other ones was loose. When I returned the car to have it fixed. It had been loose and wobbling for a while and so there was damage. They denied that they had not tightened them and suggested that someone tried to take the wheel off and steel it. I wondered where could that have happened? I park in my garage at night and why would someone want to take one wheel off at Butler during the day? 3. And lastly a few years ago I had an oil change and ended up having transmission issues. When I took it to the dealer, they told me that there was no transmission fluid, but no leaks. They suggested that whoever changed the oil had mistakenly drained the transmission fluid instead of the oil. They also changed the oil and said that the oil showed signs that It not been changed recently, even though I had taken to Firestone for an oil change recently. We recently relocated to downtown Indy from Cincinnati and needed to get an oil change and tire rotation. I found a Firestone nearby and thought I'd give them a try. The online reservation process was easy and the store emailed early the next day to confirm. Unfortunately, that seems to have been the best part of the process. I arrived a few minutes before the appointment time but the attendant seemed surprised that I was there. Also not the unfriendliest attendant ever, but definitely not friendly either. I dropped off the car and he said they would call when the car was ready. Around 4:30 pm, I called the store to see if the car was done knowing that the place closed at 6. The guy who answered the phone said the tech was just starting on the car and it would be done in 45 minutes to an hour. Went over about 5:30 pm and picked up the car, and of course there was a line of people also there to get there cars because there was only one service attendant and he said he was having to help the techs finish up for the day. The cost of the service was about $20 more than I was paying at a Goodyear in downtown Cincy. Plus the next morning, I found a screw imbedded in one of the front tires. While it is plausible that I picked it up during my 3 block drive home, the screw looked like it has been there awhile. Surprising that the tech didn't find it while rotating the tires but perhaps he was rushed to complete the work so late at the end of the day and didn't want to report as it could cause himself more work as I certainly would have wanted the tire to be fixed. Long review, I wish I had logged in to Yelp first and reviewed comments. As noted there is a Goodyear store just a few more blocks up the road. read more

This place takes advantage of customers, overcharges for services and will recommend unnecessary repairs. I live in downtown Indianapolis. This shop has a great location and a nice staff but behind the scenes I've had multiple instances where they recommend unnecessary work on your car and charge way too much. Worst part, when I asked knowledgeable, fair questions they provided me with bogus answers and tried to convince me that they were right. Each time I luckily removed my car from the shop, and had it done elsewhere or did it myself and each time my suspicions were correct. Buyer beware. You will waste a lot of money at this Firestone. read more

Lost a customer today. Had decent service so far, but brought my van down at 9:30am for a new tire and oil change. Was told it would be ready by 3:30pm. Just walked down at 3:40pm and the were just going to take it back. No phone call, nothing. Rotten customer service. Really disappointed as this is the most convenient location for me. Even if you had called I could have dealt with it by picking it up tomorrow, but now I don't have time to wait. read more

This store talks a good game but the product is sub-par. Bob and Chyrstal dazzled me with great customer service and small talk, so I bought four new tires from them. Big mistake! One leaked, so I came back to the store. Then the car was pulling hard to the right, so I had to come back a second time for an alignment. This time they fastened the lug-nuts too tight so when the tire went flat (less than 90 days later) the nut key literally broke off on the lug nut. Today, after getting the car towed, they told me that it needed ANOTHER alignment (less than three months after the last one). While the front store workers have been excessively nice, nothing makes up for a bad product or faulty work in the back store/shop. read more

Nice people, terrible service. Went in for a simple oil change - by the next day, the entire tank of oil had dripped and my car was smoking. Had to take it to a Valvoline and they were shocked at the work that was done. I had to have a new oil change done. Subpar service twice. Called to schedule an oil change and they said 'just bring it in'. Brought it in and they said they were to busy to service that day. One of the guys just stands around looking out the window all day I am pretty sure. Just called again to schedule service and got the 'bring it in whenever' line. When I told them I would like a guaranteed appointment time I was given the run around that they can't promise anything. They are just guarding their laziness. I wanted an explanation as to what precisely was wrong with my tire. He had no patience to answer my questions but certainly had all the time in the world to tell me about his vacation. I've taken my car to this Firestone a number of times over the past four years. I've always had good service and never felt like they were taking advantage of me (always a concern, as a women going into a repair shop). After my last repair, the hood on my car wouldn't open. I called and brought the car back in, and they got it working and lubricated the latch for free. I also had run over a nail (thanks, construction) and they used my extra tire as the "spare", only charging me $15 to install it. They encouraged me to buy another tire, so I would have a spare, but understood that I didn't want to spend $150 that day, given that I just spent nearly $400 on a power steering repair the week before. read more

The worst experience I've ever had at an auto repair shop. They ruined my car because they forgot to put the oil cap back on after a routine oil change. Refused to make it right or refund me as well and refused to take fault. They are extremely rude and shouldn't be trusted to do anything to a car. read more

I was a bit put off at first when I got a call saying my 5 pm appointment might be pushing it since they close at 6. I completely understand stuff like this, but why do they offer 5 pm appointments then? Unsure of what to expect, I dropped my car off for my appointment and was on my way in about 45 minutes. the guy behind the counter, I believe Bob was his name, was incredibly sweet, talkative, and seemed like an all around good guy. Came in on a Friday at 5:30 with a flat tire and not only did they decide to help me they provided superior service! I ended up having to get a new tire because the nail was in my side wall, but because of Bob S, I didn't get upset that I had to spend money on a new tire...he made me laugh and was very thorough throughout the whole process! And I'd also like to recognize William who fixed my car and stayed late even though it was his last day on the job! They tried to scam me out of $180. I had bought new tires, and found one of them was leaking, so I brought it to this Firestone in downtown Indy. They took the car into the shop to check it out, and came back and said that the TPMS was cracked and needed to be replaced. $180, they said. Absolutely BS. I went to a different shop and they said the TPMS was NOT cracked, it was just a valve that wasn't screwed on correctly. Lesson learned: avoid this downtown Firestone, they're crooks! read more

Bob, Jesse and James are excellent service advisers. I value their input and advice. They'll never tell me to do a repair if they wouldn't do it to their own personal vehicle. I very much trust them. Today they put on a new set of tires, lifetime alignment, fuel injection system cleaning, new rear break calipers, rear brake pads, rear brake rotors, fastened the fire shield and did a high mileage synthetic oil change. read more

I took the vehicle in for an alignment and was ready to sign up for the lifetime alignment. However I was told it was not possible until some repairs were completed. I was quoted $281 for a "bad" lower right front ball joint, $402 for a "broken" sway bar stabilizer (and $30 for replacing a license plate light). I had another mechanic look at the vehicle and he could find nothing wrong. Strangely, I recall a very similar repair bill for my other vehicle, when I took it in for an alignment. I'm not falling for that one again. I'll eat the cost of the lifetime alignment on that vehicle, forgo the shuttle service, and take my business elsewhere. read more
