I called to get a price on taking tires off of an existing wheel on my car and putting them on a different set of wheels is have and mounting/balancing them. Ron just told me "it's not something Id be able to help with". No explanation.. and when I said "oh okay" cause I was confused he just said yep sorry and hung up. Made an appointment for 1:30 for an oil change , when I arrived at 1:10, I was greeted with an attitude immediately. The person who greeted couldn't have cared less or be bothered. He told me he was busy and had 2 cars ahead of me, I asked how long that would be and he just looked at Me and shrugged and said 1 1/2 hours . I asked him why do you make an appointment and then make me wait 11/2 hours and I said forget about it and started walking out , I turned around and asked him why do you make me make an appointment then wait 11/2 hours , he said you go to a Dr. and wait , "I'm a Car Doctor " so you wait. Go to Jiffy Lube because that's literally what they told us. If your plan is to waste your time and money go here everytime. We were given a time to come in for an oil change and rotation, 12pm. We arrived on time and leave the car. When we come back at 145 the car is still not serviced or being serviced. We're told at 2pm the car is next. Why did we get told to come at noon then? At 230, my girlfriend calls out the desk worker and she was told "It's not my fault people work slow." Really?? You don't have an impact on scheduling and time managing your employees? After he was caught the assistant manager starts telling me how all his technicians are terrible and they always screw him over. Not happy. Had a tire with a screw keeping the air in but not very well. I don't patch tires, I replace them because tires, brakes and steering are too important to screw around with (no pun intended). Inspected the other tires and they were due so I bought all four and an alignment. They tried to sell me this and that and something else but I turned them down. Also told them not to open the hood for their free inspection of fluids, etc. Cost me about $600 for everything. Picked the car up and took it out onto Route 1 which was recently repaved so it's smooth. At 55-60, the front end is shaking. Took it back the next day. The guy didn't know the difference between acceleration and speed. Explained it to him. They checked the car. They said the wheels were "not balanced correctly". Isn't balancing new tires pretty much standard operating procedure? Lazy or incompetent? Picked the car up and it still shakes but not as much. Two days later, I get the tire underinflation light on my dash. Back to Firestone. Maybe the third time's the charm. Called later to see if it was finished, it was. They didn't offer an explanation. I asked. First they said they revalved all the tires. Then they said the tires were underinflated but that doesn't make sense; the light would have come on when I first picked it up. Time to take my car to someone who knows what the hell they're doing. Oh, and why is it that the good reviews for this place are from Brooklyn, Manhattan and other distant locations? Hmm ... Update: they responded to this review with an offer to make nice. Too late, guys. You had three chances. I have no confidence in your location now. You really should pay more attention to getting it right in the age of social media. We talk to each other, ya know. Update 2: They called me. Out of curiosity, I answered. They said they were aware of my review and that many of my coworkers bring their cars to them. So? Is that supposed to mean I should be happy with their service because other people are? Not. Let me start by saying that if there was a "6 Stars" rating, I would have chosen that. My story is that I was on a weekend trip to NJ in my Volvo XC90. When I arrived there on a Saturday, I had noticed a big gash in one of my tires and a smaller one in two of the other tires. My friend who I was visiting with had used the Firestone Complete Auto Care center in Edison, NJ (70 Parsonage Road) many times and very highly recommended them. He also indicated that the store owner, Pat Coyle was as honest as they come - something not always seen in this business were customers are routinely "oversold" - and he is also very easy to do business with. We came to see Pat and his team, who are also terrific the next day, a Sunday. As it turns out, the tires required for my Volvo are not your standard tire. Pat did not have any in stock but he called around looking for them and could not find them and I had to get home the next day! Pat went above and beyond on a Sunday and through his network of distributors was able to find 4 tires (I preferred the brand I had but told Pat that as long as the tires he finds are comparable to what I have on the car, I will be happy. So the plan was for me to get there at 10 on Monday for his team to prep the car and the tires should be in by 10:30. I couldn't be happier. About an hour or so later, still on Sunday, Pat calls to say he found the exact tires I had on my car and for less money. He didn't have to do all this work on a Sunday and he certainly didn't need to let me know that he found cheaper tires but he did. The plan worked exactly as Pat said it would and I was out of there by noon. Upon getting my second opinions both issued were under $450 worth of repairs. The employees at firestone are dishonest and looking to rip you off. My son's car was brought to here to get an oil change, wheel alignment and tire rotation. The appointment was for 11am and the car was not complete till 5pm. Secondly, the manager had said my son's rack and pinion seal was leaking when the car was just inspected top to bottom with pictures from another mechanic for another issue he was having as there were no leaks at all just 4 days ago. This is the second time at this Firestone center that they make up bogus claims of work to be done. Another time we brought the car for an oil change they said that over $800 of work needed to be done to the car. Upon bringing it to our mechanic none of the work needed to be done. The manager Ron was condescending in thinking that a women did not know the process of inspecting or getting to the rack & pinion. They are a bunch of scam artists at Firestone Edison. Liars and are horrible. We will never go back there again. We are reporting them to the BBB and writing a letter to their headquarters. read more

I wish there was a zero star option just so I could give it to this Firestone. They try to sell you everything that you don't need just so they can inflate the bill. Which plenty of others have experienced, it's even exhibited in other Yelp reviews of Firestone. It didn't just occur once. I paid for a lifetime wheel alignement service. I went in with a fine car and all a four functioning tires for an alignement but Firestone didn't do my alignement, and said I needed four new tires installed plus shocks. My friend owns a shop so he installed the tires and shocks for me just as Firestone requested. My friend would have done my alignement but it's a small shop and not all shops have the machine to do it. I brought it back the following week and after waiting three hours, they told me I needed inner and outer tie rod ends due to the nuts seizing. The cost of parts and labor to fix that came out to a total of $893.48. All ASE certify technicians should know heating up metal makes it expand. So I just brought it to Sears Auto Center and they had no issues with the seized nuts like Firestone had stated. Sears didn't even mention it. They did the alignement without a problem and for only $89.99 instead of ten times that price which Firestone was asking. Plus Sears was quick and efficient. Save YOUR time, Spare YOUR wallets and go anywhere else but Firestone. read more

My car started making a really strange noise as I was leaving Menlo Park Mall (sounded like it was attempting a dial-up internet connection - no joke!) Have never heard a car make a noise like that before. Despite the fact it was President's Day, we were in and out in less than an hour with a new vacuum hose (less than $40 for parts and labor). I've always had good experiences with Firestone and typically go to the one in Livingston. Unfortunately my opinion of this place has changed. I had gotten a brake job not too long ago at this location and it has been nothing but problems and a huge money pit. First one of the brakes' hardware was installed incorrectly which I immediately took back the next day to be fixed. Still my brakes continued to squeak when you hit them which didnt happen before this. I took it to another mechanic who then verified the use of cheap parts. I decided I already paid the money so will just deal with it. Only a few months have passed since but the car now shakes when braking and i took to another mechanic who is saying now the application of how the brakes were installed was done incorrectly/ on top of using bottom of the line parts, the pads are not properly aligned causing a ton of brake dust and wear. I am now forced to get all new brake pads and rotors. The people at this location are extremely nice but unfortunately due to this situation I wIll be limiting my visits. I had my brakes changed at this location previously and no issues. If they decided to use cheaper parts to make more money, such a shame read more

I never leave dissatisfied, but make sure you don't have anything planned for your day because it's pretty hard to get in there. I went for an oil change & tire rotation, the guys told me it was take about 2 hours. (Which I don't mind because I go over to the mall next door to kill time) But when I returned after the 2 hours my car still hasn't been touched. For a process that takes 45 minutes to do, a three hour wait is a bit excessive. The staff are REALLY great & polite so it's hard to be mad at them. Avoid. They are expensive and they try to sell you stuff you don't need and their warranties are useless I brought two front tires. Within a few months and after about 10,000 miles they went bad. When I went back for the warranty, they first tried to get out of it by blaming it on some bearings problem with the front end. After I informed them I just came from the dealer and they found nothing except the tires, they changed their story to the tires went bad because I didn't rotate them, which at 10,000 was total BS. They then would only honor their warranty after they pro-rated the tires half price and re-charged me again for road side assistance, as well as I also had to buy back tires from them and pay for a wheel alignment I didn't need. Just to replace my tires using their warranty it would have cost me an additional $700 and $1000 total. And the guy behind the desk was obnoxious and rude. Avoid this place at all cost read more

Avoid at All Costs! I wanted to buy tires, so I got a coupon from www.firestonecompleteautocare.com for Firestone FR710 which was valid for "Buy 1 tire get 2nd at 50% off". So I printed the coupon and also called them verifying that they would honour the coupon printed off the web. Spoke to a girl named Stephannie and she told me that if its on the Firestone website then they would honor it. I live about 7 miles away from this store and that why I called before driving there. After reaching the store and asking for tires, they said that they don't accept the coupons. When I told them that I spoke to Stephannie, I was told that she told me that will look into it but did not promise anything. I told them to go to the website and check about the coupon themselves. They reluctantly checked it and said that they would honor it and gave me a quote for Tire plus Installation (which was $37.5 per tire). When I said that I don't want to install at their store, they balked and told me that they would only give me discount if I did the Install at their store. I left their store after telling them that should not mislead people. This store had very hostile environment. I felt like I was committing a crime by asking for discount.
