Good- yeah they give you a detailed analysis of the problem. There credit card with 6 month no interest helps. Bad- it's expensive. Very expensive. If you're a car person you probably know what to say no to, but if you're not they're not going to try to save you $ by suggesting tips. I've recently had to fix a ton of things on my used car. I'd say I've been here 7 times and it's averaged out to be $700 per visit. Needless to say I don't know anything about cars. If you can find a good mechanic (we know what that means) be thankful because paying a car payment on a used car is not the way to go. Don't do what I've done. Slow. No initiative or motivation it seems to get customers in and out. And they see my truck is loaded with tools for the disaster relief. They had me waste an entire day waiting for an oil change and tire patch. They lied saying it would take 2 hours, was here a total of 7. They Walked around doing nothing with my tire off and oil drained for 2 hours. As I'm writing this... the drain bolt still isn't on and neither is the tire. We have taken our vehicle in (this will be the 3rd time) to have the brakes fixed in the past 2 1/2 years. August 2020 we had our left caliper and rotor replaced. We went back to see about having the right caliper replaced and need to get it done ASAP as my father in law had a massive stroke. The Hispanic gentleman didn't even look at our vehicle and told us it would be 1100.00 and they only replaced them if doing the left and right. My husband explained our left was fine and had already been replaced by their established. We have used them for tires and all our vehicle needs until this. Replaced a tire that went flat. I had Firestone order a tire to match the new Pirelli P7's on the car. One month later, I had what appeared to be a separation of the replacement tire as the tire went totally flat and separated in the neighborhood. After I had the vehicle towed to them, I had two customer no service interactions with the store personnel. I learned they only offer road hazard on Firestone and Bridgestone tire - not what I thought that I had purchased. I am now out $900 from the moron customer no service kings. Yesterday, I made an online appointment for new tires at 9:00 AM today and arrived at the Firestone shop before 8:45 AM. The service advisor said that he had "a guy" coming in by 9:00AM, so I waited. At 9:45 AM the work had not begun...my car was still where I parked it. At 9:56, my car was pulled into the repair bay. All 4 tires were removed and...nothing more has happened. An hour later, there it sits, up on the lift...no progress! Watching the activity in this shop, it is clear that all are disorganized and don't have any sense of customer service. Customers are kept waiting, provided no updates on the progress of the work in their car and generally ignored...until they are asked to pay their bill. Called on Friday to make appointment. Service person told me they couldn't schedule an appointment, but if I showed up at 8 am they could get me in and out for oil change and tire rotation. Drove an hour to only be told " I don't know who you spoke with, but we can get you for at least two hours." For the most part Firestone has been good. I've had issues over the years, but they try to make them right: lost lug key, left tire rod lose, didn't tighten tire caps so I lost the cap, left tool on top of engine, bent running board, website doesn't always reflect appointment availability. These items were other locations. Today was the breaking point for Firestone brand. I've been a customer for 12 years with 4 vehicles. read more

I brought my 2008 Infiniti G35 in to the Firestone Store in Arden NC because it was running very rough after sitting for a year without use. It had 2 codes, P0300 (mis-firing) and P0021 (Cam shaft mis-timed). After reading about the errors, I asked them to change the oil, give the car a tune-up and look for any other problems. I received the estimate via email after I got home and it was for $771. Ouch! We are fixing the car up to give to a disabled veteran, so I didn't get too upset during our act of charity. That was Saturday. They called me later and said that their technician broke off a bolt in the head and they could not remove it. They had to order a new one for $500 more. They did agree to perform the additional labor for free and to comp the oil change...since I was being so understanding). Sunday, they ordered the wrong part and Monday, they got the part from the dealer. I was also told it would be another $200 to replace the Cam shaft sensor. OK. They called to say it was done on Tuesday. I picked it up in the morning and the Service Engine Soon light was on. I asked them to turn it off and they did. I drove the car about 3 miles and the light came back on. I took it back in and left it again. They called later to say that they replaced 2 more sensors, but now it was leaking coolant. They fixed the loose coolant clamp and I picked it up again that evening. I got 3 miles down the road and the light came on again for error P0021 again. I just received the bill via email for $1556. What I got was an oil change (with the wrong oil) and a tune-up...that didn't fix the problem. Now I have to take it somewhere else and pay more money to actually get it fixed, not to mention a new oil change with the correct oil. I will forever avoid Firestone. read more

I'll start off with the positives. They are friendly and attentive. You don't have to wait forever to be attended to. There's always a guy at the front desk. We took our car to them to fix a vacuum leak and they were able to determine the source of the leak and fix it. They also communicate well with you and call you to make sure you know what's going on with the repairs, what parts are needed, and what fees they would charge before doing the work. They also warranty their service, which gave me a huge piece of mind. I took my car back to them almost a year later because I thought the vacuum leak issue had reappeared, and they took a look at it for free, no questions asked. Now to the negatives. As typical of these chains, they up-sell you on everything they can. They recommended us a tune-up in the process and even started recommending tires. The tune-up I was willing to go for since our vehicle had not had one in a while, but the tires I firmly rejected because there was plenty of tread left. Although to their credit, they weren't as pushy as I've experienced with other chain places. Overall, if I had serious car issues that I could not fix myself, I'd go back to these guys. I felt confident in their expertise and they got the work done in a timely manner, while being professional about it. read more

Today my tire pressure light came on while traveling in Asheville. I googled tire stores and the nearest one was Firestone on Long Shoals Road. I pulled into a very crowded parking lot and went inside. I told the young man at the desk that I knew they were very busy, but could someone please check the air pressure in my tires. I need to go back to S. C. and don't want to have problems along the way. He told me where to pull up and, with a smile, said he would check them himself. Indeed that's exactly what happened. After putting air in one, the light went off, but he checked all four and would not take any money. As a woman traveling alone, this meant the world to me. Thank you for your kindness and efficiency! Took my car in today with an appointment dropped it off at 10:30 at fire stone on 3 Long Shoals Rd. Three wheel alignment and a tire rotation. They told me that they'd get the car in in a few hours which would've been about 1230. Call back around 130 car was not even in yet call back around 330 they told me it was going in next. The car was there for seven hours, I went at 5:30 as that was the time my driver was able to take me and I figured the car would've been ready by now and as we pulled up it was sitting in the exact same spot as I dropped it off this morning. Went inside had a huge disagreement with the fat guy behind the counter. He told me to get out. I raised my voice in front of all the customers and I asked him if it was their policy to treat customers like that? I guess my time was not valuable to them because he said that he was too busy to even make phone calls today. This is not the way you conduct a business and certainly to get clients to come back to you. I went there for an alignment. The people are very friendly. But do not let that fool you. They said my truck needed all 4 new ball joints to "save me money" so the alignment would "actually do it job". I had just replaced the ball joints 6 months ago with top of the line ball joints. This same location also did this to my friend but with a different situation. I would not recommend there service for anyone. And on top of that it took them over 3 hours just to look at my truck and tell me it "needed" new ball joints. read more

Several years ago we had a less than positive experience with Firestone in Arden, so we stayed away for a while. Its convenience to where we live and the coupons we kept receiving that seemed like good deals led us to try it once more after enough time had passed. They made us sorry once again. Clearly the bar has only been lowered in the years since we last visited. Expect to be overcharged and have additional services included without your asking for them, nor your authorization. Dare question them for doing that when you checkout? Seems prudent, but soon you'll realize that it's not worth the hassle they'll give you in an effort to hoodwink you out of additional dollars. Want to question them anyway? They'll tell you that you indeed did ask for [insert whatever unnecessary service you didn't want]. This deceit is particularly bold when you're in possession of a paper that lists the services you actually did approve, versus the absence of any others. You'll also get a nice dose of condescension and some fast talking that leaves you in that stunned state of when someone swipes your wallet from your pocket and runs away--you don't even know what happened except that you got robbed. You know how some people are leery of mechanics and being taken advantage of? That's for a good reason--this place perpetuates that stigma. I hope you can learn from each of my bad experiences and avoid this Firestone. There are plenty of other auto service locations to choose from in this town, and I'll be picking any of them over this one--you should too. read more

Why are all the Firestones the same? Horrible service, horrible customer service. I had a power steering hose put on for over $500 and all my fluid leaked out a week later! I used to stop leak and it seems to be working fine. Then I went in to get my engine light checked 2 days ago, he wanted me to leave my car, I told him I could not, so asked me what time I can get in on monday. We scheduled at 8am on Monday morning for an appointment, he said he had 5 guys that diagnose these issues. So Monday is here, I went in and the lady at the counter asked me to leave it too, she said it could be 4 or 5 hours before it can even be looked at. She then said she only had 1 guy who knew how to do it. (Liars) She also said he didn't set up an appointment. They obviously don't know what they are doing or how to fix your car correctly. Beware! This Firestone is pretty much the only place I'll take my car. I've never had a bad experience here. They let me know whats wrong with my car and how much it will cost, and I never have problems afterwords. The other day I needed my AC fixed and got outstanding service. The people at the desk were very friendly and helpful. My car took a while to diagnose, and needed an unexpected part, so I came back two days later and the guy working on my car came in on his day off specifically just to finish the job.
