Over the course of two days, I never received any calls, updates, or anything of the like over the two days so I figured everything must be going smoothly. After telling them I needed to pick it up the following day after work around 3pm, I arrive at 3:45 to find they still haven't finished the work. While waiting, I was ignored and had to ask what's going on and inform them I needed to go. The gentleman said something about his coworker being later than expected and that he was waiting on him to do the work. My question is, why didn't he call me to inform me of this delay? When I called to check in at 1:00 pm this particular gentleman said they had already finished repairing the 4-way brake light interface. Upon arrival, it turns out they were still working on it. After continuing to wait, it turns out the same light that wasn't working still doesn't work so it might be a blown bulb or something else entirely. Now I am waiting for an indefinite amount of time, which I feel is disrespectful of my time. To make things worse, I told them to keep me informed of estimates, which they never did. When I asked the gentleman about how much it was going to be, he remarked "We'll try to keep it less than a million dollars." When he finally answered in earnest, he said it would be about $150, which is WAY more than I expected. They ended up replacing a bulb, installing a new 4-way switch, and re-grounding some loose wires. Should have been less than 30 min of labor and less than $50 in parts, and that's being generous. At $75/hr labor cost the total should have been under $100, easily. The point is, I don't trust this place to be honest and straightforward, nor do I have confidence of their competence or punctuality. I would not recommend doing business with them nor would I do business with them again.

I was nervous since it's been twenty years since I did anything that intensive on a car and I need my car for work. The staff made sure I got the right parts. I didn't actually swap the pads for almost a week due to other real life issues but when it came time I recognized I had no way to get the lug nuts off. I had the right socket size but my socket wrench was too small to accommodate. I called the store and learned they wouldn't mind if I used their (larger) socket wrench and was told I could work in the parking lot if I wanted to. I came in early Sunday morning and borrow their longest wrench to wrestle with lug nuts torqued to 120 foot pounds. It took some time to get the off but then I started to work. I had to go in and borrow a thin 17mm wrench to help me ratchet off the two pins on the caliper. No problem. Every difficulty I encountered I could walk right back in and get advice and direction on. The staff can't touch your car (obvious liability reasons) but they were all super helpful with guidance and advice. Jason, Sean (hope that's the right spelling), and Caleb helped steer a middle aged man through a pro brake job. I could have never done it without them. The whole staff there is amazing and the Sunday made me a customer for life.

This is Advance Auto Parts store #4560 and it's located on US 25 (known as Hendersonville Road on this stretch) on the south side of Asheville. I was able to find the washer fluid right away because they were stocked on shelves just inside the entrance. The store carried a couple different brands. I like to use Rain-X and was lucky -- there was a 2 for $7 deal on 1-gallon bottles of Rain-X 2-in-1 All Season washer fluid for a limited time. A bottle regularly costs $4.99. Even though the deal said 2 for $7, I was able to purchase a single bottle for $3.50 (the receipt said "1 @ 2 for $7.00") so you don't necessarily have to buy 2 to get the deal pricing. Tax was $0.25 (7%) so I walked out the door paying $3.75. Not bad. I refilled my washer fluid reservoir in the parking lot before I left and was on my way. Rain-X's All Season washer fluid works in temperatures as cold as -25 degrees Fahrenheit so it was perfect considering temps were in the single digits where we were headed. The employee who rang me up was helpful and quick.

They kept the shipping fee and only refunded me the price of the item even though it wasn't my fault. I suggest before you order anything review the return policy and consult with their team about what you will receive because sometimes what you see on the website is not what you will receive. Team took about 2 weeks to be able to make a decision and whether they could refund me my money for an item that was falsely advertised. In the image below is what's shown on their website what I received is a standard OEM black b series oil pan gasket. Shipping was delayed about a week from the date that it was supposed to arrive.

I asked them to do a general check up as well...why not? I waited 4hours and was finally told that they were hearing a "grumbling" or "shaking" sound from my alternator. They told me it would be a $800ish dollar replacement. Yikes. Well, I know the dealership always overcharges for new parts, so I went to my local mechanic: Mr. Tire on Hendersonville Road. I asked them to check out the alternator, the bearings in the air compressor and bearings in the fan (not a car person, but my grandpa is and I repeated his words verbatim). I didn't wait long, but the "gent" (using the term VERY loosely) told me that not only was the alternator busted and making noise, but so was the belt around that...so the price had gone up to over $1000. Guys, I don't know anything about cars beyond checking my oil, but I do know when someone is trying to take advantage of me. I'm very much an independent woman, but I felt so completely helpless. No one was telling me the truth, no one was taking me seriously, no one was listening to what I was asking them to do. And that guy at Mr. Tire was 110% lying through his teeth. THANK GOD a fellow customer told me about Auto Pro. I called them in the parking lot of Mr. Tire and explained my situation to a very frank, down-to-earth, and incredibly understanding lady named Jen (Jennifer). She asked if I could come in within the next 10minutes before the mechanics went to lunch. I immediately said yes. As soon as I arrived, I explained my problem and was met with empathy and kindness. Jen called one of the mechanics in, explained the problem with the words I used and told Wade to, "Treat this young lady right! We want the TRUTH!" Hysterical. Wonderful person. I had been near tears because of how completely powerless I felt. She made me laugh and assured me that she and Wade would take care of me. I believed her. Within the hour, Wade was back. He told me that Toyota and Mr. Tire probably never even checked the alternator...it was in near-mint condition. So was the belt. Mr. Tire is clearly full of cold-blooded leeches. It was the air compressor, just like my Grandpa suspected. Auto Pro listened to me. They cared. They got results and WHAT'S MORE: they told me that the part was just over a year old and that I should go to the place I bought the replacement from originally and see if it was still under warranty. Incredible integrity and customer service. I am never going to another mechanic in Asheville. Not even for an oil change. Jennifer and Wade went above and beyond to help me. Thank you both so much.
