Xpert tech has been my family's go-to mechanic for over 20 years. Why? They are honest, transparent, and work to save you $ wherever they can. Additionally, I have never had them mess anything up on any car I've brought in, or had pickup time extended. They do what they say they are going to do. In an industry where word is increasingly cheap, they are a dying breed. These are the best mechanics in town, bar none. read more

** Excellent Service - Highly Recommend!** I always have a great experience with Xpertech. They are honest, transparent, and explained everything clearly without trying to push unnecessary repairs. The pricing was fair, with no hidden fees, and they provided an upfront estimate I could trust. Ben's communication was top-notch, keeping me updated throughout the process and answering all my questions. read more

i've been hesitant to place a review, but it's warranted at this point. Xpertech had been the only place we'd take our vehicles. However, last couple of years we've had some major issues with the repairs done there, and even body damage at pick up, which no one discussed with us The final straw was a maJor expensive misdiagnosis. We were able to find this 'elusive' and very specific issue for my year make model car within a five second google search. Unfortunately, it was only after the fact that we found out, Shame on them, silly us. Never again at Xpertech. read more

Not generally being one who posts reviews, I had to make an exception this time. To put it in perspective, for the past month and a half, we have driven from San Jose, CA, to Durham, NC, to Lexington, VA, and then to Asheville. So I have put in about 5000 miles during this trip. All this on a 2002 Toyota Sienna with 195k miles. Last week at Black Mtn., I noticed a clunking sound when braking. Not being local, I went on Yelp looking for a mechanic to diagnose the problem and eventually settled on Xpertec. I had read about needing an appointment, so I went there at 9 a.m., seeking one. At the front desk, I stated my issue, and they said they would need to look at it before they gave me an appointment. The long and short of it They took the car for a drive and then asked me if they could put on the lift to check the bottom, which is a good indication they were very thorough. After that, Kevin comes and tells me your rear brakes are noisy, but they are good for another 20k miles. I asked him how much it cost for the diagnosis, and he said nothing. They spent almost an hour checking it out and at no cost. Hats off to them for their diligence. The service on both the technical side and at the front desk was exceptional. read more

I've waited 24 hours in order to calibrate my feelings on an issue that is strictly about business. I had a truck that was used to clean construction projects and to be fair and honest it was a rusty bucket but it was dependable and never gave us a problem. As most vehicles will do. a brake pad began to make a grinding noise which told me it needed to be serviced. on top of that issue no heat would come out of the vehicle and winter was coming. Facts: The car drove average every week 700 miles and never had brake fluid added. As 3 weeks had just passed by with the squeak because we were working 7 days a week to service our customers , we brought it in because as I said it was getting colder. But still no leak. So, imagine my surprise when after dropping the vehicle off, we were told we had a massive brake leak and needed to spend $1,100.00 if I ever wanted to drive the vehicle again. We were then told our vehicle left a puddle of brake fluid in the mechanics parking lot. My son and I thought since we have never had an occurrence or brake problem and on top and f that a brake leak doesn't make a grinding sound so I questioned his integrity on that issue. Had the problem been brought up to my attention that the brake line was rotted and need to be repaired then I would had given the ok. It's a professional opinion that made sense. But, to say it was leaking and point to a spot in a driveway that my son parked 10' away from and say to us, " see the puddle you left in my parking lot?" But not one drop of oil any where else was totally a lie and suspect. Many words were said over this topic and suffice it to say, even when I'm mentally clearer, it was the lie that pissed me off not the fact of a rotted brake line. I'm figuring after he flashed the smallest of money knots and told me he didn't need my money his ego was impressed. Suffice it to say, honesty is the best policy and you should always be suspect with a mechanic who tells you something that is so far fetched it just makes you think. Think twice before using a person who lies in order to create a revenue stream. read more

In early November, my husband and I were on a road trip that took us from the Chicago area to Raleigh and then on to Asheville. The Thursday morning we were leaving Raleigh, two warning lights lit up on our 2006 Lexus Rx400h (about 185K miles on it). One light indicated a problem with the hybrid battery, the other was linked to traction control (as I recall!). It was the battery warning that really got our attention. It was 3.5 hours from Raleigh to Asheville, then another 800 or so back home. What to do? First, we agreed NOT to turn the car off till we got to Asheville. Second: I searched Yelp and found great reviews on this place. We called and got the same treatment as so many happy customers: Despite being booked up, they took pity on us and told us to stop by when we got to Asheville. Which is exactly what we did. In short order they diagnosed the problem (water in the hybrid battery) and had it fixed -- for a reasonable price -- by 10 a.m the next morning. The fix must have also settled the traction-related light, because that light no longer was staring at us accusingly. So, we had a great weekend with friends in Asheville, and didn't have to figure out how to get home without our up-till-then faithful SUV. Kudos to (Rae sp??) who answered the phone, the owner who gave the go-ahead for us to come in, and the owner's son who did the work. read more

Excellent Service - Fast, Affordable and Great Customer Service. I did a Synthetic Oil change and tire rotation and they handled everything professionally. Shout out to the folks at the front desk. You are awesome! Thank you Update: Coming from California, I could say that there's no one that cares more about your car, than the good people at Xperttech. After revisiting last week, I strongly feel that their workmanship, responsiveness and humility is second to none. I've always been skeptical about auto business but this place gives me hope. read more

The ONLY reason I hesitated to write this stellar review is that it might make this business even more popular than it already is! A trusted neighbor recommended Xpertech and I came home after my first visit and thanked him profusely....this place is wonderful. They are professional and efficient and honest. The work was explained thoroughly and the charges were unbelievably reasonable. Plan ahead and make an appointment, though...because everyone loves this place! I had routine service done here instead of at the dealership and it was a fraction of the cost AND time....I will definitely be back! read more

Honesty, integrity, compassion, and expertise. We were in serious trouble with failing rear brakes and several hundred miles to go on a cross country trip. We showed up at Xpertech's shop around lunchtime on a Friday. Everyone in town said they are the place to take your car... if they would take you. They took pity and they rescheduled other repairs to help us out and get us on our way. The work was flawless. The price was completely reasonable. This shop and technicians are amazing. Thanks a million! read more

I have been using Xpertech Car Care exclusively for the past 10+ years. At this point, I don't even trust anybody else to work on my car! A few years ago, they were able to find and install a new motor for my Honda pilot, and most recently the biggest job they've done is replacing the timing chain on my Audi Q3. From foreign cars, to domestic cars, they are experts in every area. I highly recommend them just know that, because they are so good, you will likely have to wait for service - but it is most certainly worth the wait. read more

These guys are great and will be my go to car place going forward. The lady answering the phone was really nice and helpful. Even though they were pretty busy she still suggested I come in and leave my car so they could fit me in. Ben took really good care of me and my Kia. He explained everything and showed me what the issue was. Service was quick and their waiting room felt safe and socially distanced. They also had coffee available which is a plus! I usually go to Firestone but Xpertech's quote was way more affordable. read more

Bottom line with these folks is not the wonderful work they do but their strength of character! They are very honest. I have used Xpertech for two vehicles now. In both cases they have been awesome! Kevin is always easy to talk to and will let me know what he thinks is happening with the car. Ben is terrific and talks to me regularly with updates. My last situation was difficult and took some time to work through but I can't say enough good things about them. I highly recommend them!!! read more

I had suspected I was having problems with my thermostat when my heater was going in and out, but today, I got stuck in wreck traffic on I-40 en route to a business meeting, and when I came out the other side, my 2007 Mustang convertible suddenly overheated. I managed to pull off into a parking lot on Tunnel Road, cool down, then drive another half mile and cool down again. I called my usual repair shop: Can't take you until after the weekend. I called the closest shop to my location: Can't get to you today. Then I called Xpertech, maybe a mile further. I spoke with Kassie. Her first reaction was that they were booked. I explained my predicament, that I live alone in Swannanoa and couldn't leave my car over the weekend. She said, "Hold on, let me check." And then, "Let your car cool down, and get out here, and I'll see what I can do." I made it to Xpertech after another stop at the Oteen McDonald's to cool down again. I had to wait three hours, but it was a lively three hours in the waiting area, because everyone was engaged in conversation. It's like the old general store, the ones with the checkerboards in the middle of the floor. Kevin (owner) came out after some time and explained to me that it was indeed my thermo and housing, and he gave me a VERY reasonable price, comparable to the price I paid five years ago for the same issue, and sought my approval. I kind of laughed, because what am I going to do? Drive around with a hot engine and risk warping the heads, frying the valves or worse, cracking the block? They took me in at my time of greatest need. The atmosphere there is all family. The employees, from desk clerks to mechanics, seem to love what they do, and they do an "Xpert" job at it (yes, Kassie and Kevin, I'm looking at you two). This is my new go-to shop for my precious 'Stang! read more

Always super helpful and honest. They are busy, but they still take time to make sure you understand what is going on with your vehicle and they don't try to upsell a bunch of extra services to make a commission. They're really great people. They even picked me up one day when I was walking there to get my car. read more

I'm from New York, no where near Kevin (the owners) shop, and he did right by me and my car in every way. If you're looking for an honest mechanic and guys who are just good at their job, do yourself a favor and come here - I can't imagine how much money Kevin has saved me. What a good guy. read more

great diagnostics...awesome customer service...honest and accurate! our "go to" mechanics for all of our vehicles!

Just want to say, relative to the review 2/22/2018 Yeah, I can see how you might get that impression first time. They are swift, no-nonsense, and maybe didn't go to charm school. But we've been taking our two cars there for years, and they are great. Never do any work that isn't necessary, and explain things about your car afterwards. They are the best of any city I've lived in, and I trust them implicitly. You'd be lucky to have them serve you. (And so much better than my Suburu "dealership" down the road (although I haven't been there for years, so shouldn't say). read more

My name is Mary. I'm an RN on the Grand Strand in Myrtle Beach SC. My daughter just recently went to college in Swannanoa NC. She is a freshman. Having trouble with her car. She went to Xpert Car Care. She called her worried mom to say that Kevin and Summer (two of their staff members) treated her so well. Kevin found a bearing that needed to be replaced and could have caused her serious issues on the roads. Summer explained to her that driving there was different than our Lowcountry and urged her to use caution. I'm so appreciative for the care and time you gave to her.. I highly recommend this business to anyone. God bless you. read more

By far the best mechanic in the area!!!! Kevin and his staff are trained helpful and accommodating to the needs of the community! I have been to others in my 47 years of car ownership and this is the best!!! read more

I like Kevin, the owner and started out trusting Xpertech because it was highly recommended. But I've had one bad repair experience after another. An electrical problem that was solved by installation of a kill switch on my battery. That broke. Twice. Xpertech replaced the first at no charge. I never bothered to return a second time. A door latch installed, that almost instantly broke. A hood latch broken by a mechanic as an unintended consequence of a repair, replaced by a piece of cable sticking out of the front grill. That's all little stuff. They're honest, willing to fix their errors without charge. The main problem is the place is jammed, everyone is rushed without time to take input on a repair issue and, in my experience at least, too rushed to get the job done right. read more

I wouldn't trust my cars to anyone else... they know what they're doing, super service.... good people!..... honest as the day is long....

I had my car towed there on a Monday. My car was finished by Tuesday around 11:30am. No other mechanic had even been able to identify the issue. They are very decently priced, efficient and easy to work with. read more

So a buddy of mine sold me his truck and told me to take it to these guys........he HIGHLY recommended them........and I found out why. They are top notch, attention to detail and very affordable. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THEM. read more

I came to Kevin at Xpertech after months (and thousands of dollars' worth) of terrible experiences with two other local mechanics. My old Volvo is pushing 200k miles and I rely on it completely for my work as a touring musician. I was very hesitant to trust any mechanic after what I'd been dealing with from these other guys, but Xpertech came very highly recommended by a few East Asheville friends. Kevin has taken great care of me and my car. He has gone above and beyond the call of duty in fixing major, dangerous errors by the other guys (reattaching a wheel they'd not tightened properly, which was about to fall off; replacing a plug that had not been properly put back after the timing belt was changed, resulting in a major oil leak) for no charge. I can't speak highly enough of this guy and his business. My car-related stress level was sky-high by the time I first took my car to Xpertech. Now I feel that I'm in good hands and I trust them to do right by me. read more

Is your car broken, almost broken, or at risk of being broken in the near future? These people can help you. I honestly can't say enough good things about this garage and its staff. Reasonably prices, solid work, and super quick turnaround times made taking my car here one of the most pleasurable experiences involving getting my car fixed. After dropping your car off for an evaluation the staff will call you and give you a run down of what's wrong with your car, what your options are for fixing it, and exactly how much it will cost you (which amazingly will be less than you expect). This is where you say: "That's all it'll cost me? Do it!" Then they'll fix your car and have it back to you all the same day! What, you say? How can this be? I'm not sure myself, maybe a pact with some space God or an army of car elves, I don't know how they do it, but they do it. My car has been running the best it has in years after taking it in. One caveat: call ahead and make an appointment, this isn't great clips don't expect to get taken as a walk in. Precision work takes preparation. Do this one thing, and you'll be back on the road in no time. read more

I love Xpertech, they saved my move! I needed some diagnostic wizards to figure out why my used Ram Promaster van was taking 20 times to start. It started doing that a week before I was moving out of state so I needed it fixed ASAP! Another shop found nothing wrong, so I went to Xpertech being told they're the locals favorite. And that's for a good reason! From Ben on the phone to Kevin and his team, everyone was so knowledgeable and helpful. They were busy as heck but they got me right in there. And when there was a related issue the day of the move, they got me in immediately and fixed it. I just don't think any other shop would have been so dedicated and able to fix the problem. I can't thank them enough for their hard work, not to mention Ben's reassurance! (I still thank them every time I get in and start her up!) read more

Kevin and his staff are amazing! He recently went above and beyond for my parents after a squirrel chewed through the wires in their highlander. He not only made the repair, but built a tiny cage around the area to keep it from happening again! Who does that? We have been going to him for years, and I recommend him to anyone needing a mechanic. He is a no-nonsense kind of guy who is honest and up-front. He explains things in plain language and never does anything without prior approval. Best Mechanic in Asheville - HANDS DOWN! read more

I have been in Kevin's world of auto care for over 17 years. Never once have I felt that anything but the truth was being told to me about whatever car situation or need I was presented with. If all businesses were run the way Kevin and his family run theirs, the world would be a better place. Might sound cheesy but that's how nice it is having Kevin in your corner. Besides our families and homes our vehicles are our most important assets and they just get that there. Thanks Kevin! Oh by the way heading your way today!! ugh! read more

This establishment was recommended by a good friend and that recommendation was validated by my car dealer who has his own service shop! This place is awesome, quite simply. Everyone here cares about cars but more importantly, they seem to care about people too. Hard to find in today's world. I will never take my vehicles anywhere else from now on. Highly recommend! read more

I lived in Asheville for 9 years and it sadly took my 6 years to find a reliable mechanic in town. However, when I found out, I struck gold. Kevin and his people have taken care of me in innumerable ways over those 3 years. Coming from a devastating mechanic experience with my Saturn dealer the year before (manufacturer's defect which they admitted to, but never paid...$3000 down the drain), I was ready for change. Even though they are always super busy, I can always seem to get an appointment with them within a week. Almost always, they are finished with my car by the end of the day. I worked right down the street, so this was always really convenient. Several times they have gone out of their way to take care of me. I remember having a broken tail light once, which wouldn't let me pass inspection. I was broke at the time and didn't have the money to replace the whole assembly, so they did a very cheap ($0.00) fix for me that would allow me to pass for inspection. I didn't even ask them to do it. They just did it. So awesome. Very reasonably priced too. I really can't say enough good things about them. Thank you guys! I will miss having you as my go-to for any car issues. read more

Discovered a noise on our front axle on the afternoon of Thanksgiving. Since I was under warranty with Jeep I tried the dealer who told me their next appointment was December 11th. I called Xpertech at 8:00 on the morning of Black Friday after several other places were also booked or weren't open. They suggested I bring it by and they would test drive it to see what the issue was. I got there are was greeted by the owner Kevin. There were several other customers with appointments waiting in the COVID friendly waiting room so I wasn't sure if I would get help before any of them. The owner personally took my car out within minutes and then had it raised in the back to extract a rock that was lodged in the brake rotor. So relieved it wasn't a bigger deal and amazed and how they got me in so quickly and remedied the situation within hours of my initial inquiry. I'll be back! read more

State Inspection: I called 10 places and they all said they couldn't squeeze me in for the 20 minute inspection process. One place that I actually stopped at had no cars in the parking lot, but didn't seem interested in my business. Not Xpertech. This place is the best. Not only did they agree to see me when they seemed to be very busy, but they handled the inspection quickly and efficiently. I will definitely be back. read more

The whole team is the best! They work fast, are reasonably priced, explain everything in non-mechanic English and most importantly, they are honest and trustworthy. The reception staff are also a dream inspite of being crazy busy. I understand that Kevin has had this business for many years and it is always bustling with repeat customers, so what does that tell you? I'm relatively new to Asheville and feel blessed to have found Xpertech to care for my aging truck. One less thing to worry about. GO THERE! read more

Agree with reviews that describe the staff as rude. We walked in with a problem on Monday morning, and the lady flatly stated, "We only take appointments," then stared at us as if we were wasting her time. I don't have a problem with that policy (most places will at least talk to you if you walk in), but I would have appreciated more courtesy from her. We went to another place, and they're looking at the car presently. read more

Highly impressed with the service and reasonable prices. A friend of mine recommended I use them. Never have I had mechanic that I actually was sad to leave when I had to move out of the state. The guys at Xpertech know their stuff, and give you HONEST service.
