There was no wait. Plenty of employees to help and serve. Location was clean and neat. Had seating outside which was nice since we had our dog with us. Food was good and made as ordered. Salad choices were nice since not everyone likes or needs wheat. read more

Whenever I find a Firehouse, I drop by. This time I had the Engineer. Basically it's a sub with turkey, cheese, and sauteed mushrooms. I typically get them "fully involved", that's with everything but then I hold one or two items (like mustard). Then I grab a hot sauce from their extensive collection and kick it up a notch or two. I really like the Jamaican Scotch Bonnet hot sauce. This particular Firehouse is pretty large and I loved it! Perfect lunch at my favorite sandwich chain! read more

Actually, the food is OK. They need management and customer service and experience training. My partner and I went Saturday at approximately 2:50 PM. I haven't been here for several years (I think Publix, WAWA, and JerseyMikes are the top contenders in Vero) and were nearby on other business. I decided on an Italian sub the the cashier asked if I wanted it fully involved, which is all the condiments and veggies; she pointed to a counter display adjacent to the register. I didn't see the dressing on that list and wanted to read the makings on the large wall sign to see if I misread the ingredients. On the board was Italian Dressing but not on the small display adjacent to the register. The entire staff began to laugh at me as if I were among the lowest mental capacity in the metro area. Maybe the most surprising event was the manager did not come out to see what was going on or stop by to see if our meals were ok. I won't be going back anytime soon. If it were my franchise, I'd be looking for new management. read more

For what it is I'll give it an overall 4 stars out of 5. It's convenient and also has convenient hours. You can be sure that when other eateries in Vero Beach are closed (many close on Sundays and/or Mondays) Firehouse Subs is probably open. Tried the new "Limited Time Only" hot pastrami Reuben sub tonight. As long as you realize it's not a real Reuben, it's fine. You've got your lean pastrami, faux swiss cheese and Thousand Island dressing instead of Russian. The sandwich is on a sub roll, not grilled rye, and is topped with cole slaw instead of sauerkraut. This is the only thing on the menu that includes swiss cheese. They use Provolone on everything else. Altogether the sandwich has about half the flavors you'd expect from a real Reuben. It was still tasty, even if it's not a real Reuben. I hope they keep it on the menu after the planned Limited Time Only, whatever that is, and start to offer swiss cheese on more of their subs. read more

I've been to the firehouse in Vero several times. I always get the brisket sandwich with barbecue sauce - - I'm addicted to it so good and I love the soda machine, try regular Coke with cherry and vanilla added it's killer...Place always looks clean and the service is pretty good most of the people are really friendly. read more

Of all the sub shops that I've been to, I'd have to say this is my favorite. The honey ham in their hook and ladder sub is just DELICE. I've never had honey ham like that. They are more then subway but they do taste a lot better. And to be fair, I guess I should say which sub shops I'm comparing. I've been to Pennys, Subway, Jersey Mikes, Publix subs and Quiznos. From those, Firehouse is just sooo much better. I have had a few different subs from firehouse and I have to say the hook and ladder is the only one really worth getting. Usually clean, service depends on how busy they are. There was a time where they just forgot my sub all together and I was there for 30 minutes (I was caught up with what was on the TV) and they just ended up giving me a few free sub coupons. For a meal, it's usually around $8-12. read more

Great subs, VERY clean & everyone welcomes you as soon as ya walk in the door! Didn't have to wait long at all, a lot of choices, didn't see all the soda choices there were til I looked on here! So, next time will give that a try. If you choose to eat in, they keep the tables extremely clean, as well as sitting outside. We just brought ours home! Will definitely go back. read more

Always nice to stop into a Firehouse location. It's too bad there isn't another location here in Vero. As usual you guys did a fantastic job with the sandwiches. Always clean...and you can tell cuz there's always someone cleaning something there. When the countertops are clean and the food prep areas aren't filthy then you don't feel like you have to worry so much about the food handler's skill. Nice. read more

If you enjoy the warm side of sub sandwiches, the food here will not disappoint. It's hard for me to move away from the "Club on a Sub #6". Unfortunately, the aspect that this and most firehouse locations lack would be service. Your lucky if someone will acknowledge you when you walk in, and more than likely you'll be greeted with a slew of dumb looks from every employee behind the counter as you order. I would avoid asking for suggestions, cause the less they say the better your experience will be. This location, and most others feature the Freestyle Coke Machines. read more

One of the best sub shop's around. Staff are always very friendly. Order is always right. Tried most of their sub's, chili, and salads. It has always been good. They have the new Coke machines that have 150 flavors. Your taste buds will never get bored. read more

Wow where do I begin. Well first of all I have to remind anyone that is reading this review that I preach food is the most subjective subject on the planet, what I like you hate and vice versa. So bear that in mind along with the fact I am from the north where they have all but perfected the art of making subs. I never would give an establishment 1 star on the first visit as it could have been an off day, I would if a roach opened the front door and greeted me but that is not the case here. This place is very clean and everyone was very friendly. A variety of subs and unique hot sauces are available too. We ordered 5 whole subs and on wheat bread, you know the health conscious thing.... yeah right. I was completely unaware that the sub rolls are steamed ( I think that is what I was seeing). This made the rolls very soggy to the point it was like eating giant balls of goo. The meat wasn't bad at all but part of the "sub experience" is a great roll and I'm sorry this just didn't fit the bill. None of us were able to eat more than half. Again I caution that I am comparing what I am used to eating. It seems that a lot of people enjoy these subs and I respect that. So my advice is to try it for yourself. Maybe I'll try one more time just to see if it was a "bad" day. read more

The bread on my sandwich was soggy. The manager refused to honor a buy one sub and get another free coupon. I believe he was dishonest saying that he won't honor the coupon because we are not in central Florida. It's his choice to not honor any franchise promotion, but I won't be returning to this sub par location. Subperior subs or even Publix has better subs, and at better prices. read more

I have eaten at Firehouse Subs all over the country and this location in my opinion is the poorest one I have ever been to. Check your orders closely as most times they will probably be wrong. I am allergic to onions and even though I request not to have them on the sub they always put them on. There are better choices in the local area. read more

Firehouse subs are pretty good. That is the only reason that I go there once in a blue moon. The employee's at Firehouse are scum. I've stood at the cash register for three minutes before anyone came up to me and took my order before, and mind you this is when there is no line and all four or five of the employee's are just standing there looking like the idiots that they are. They don't have a set person to run the cash register. They all act annoyed that they have to do their job in an untimely manner. Then they joke about it with their fellow employee's. I have never felt so uncomfortable and un-welcomed in a sub shop/place of business. I never seen so many douchebag's working at one location in my life. I guarantee most of these employee's are going no where in life. If I was manager of this place I would fire almost every employee to try and save face, and get some people that actually want to work! read more

Ordered two subs by phone picked them up brought them home. My sons sub was good to go, but my New York Steamer was not. We received a nice glossy promotion flyer with coupons yesterday and decided to use them. It states that hot specialty subs come "fully involved" with Mayo, mustard, lettuce, tomato, onion and dill pickle on the side. When we ordered we ordered "fully involved", my sub was supposed to have Mayo, Mustard, and Italian dressing which I think would be fully involved for the NY Steamer? It came with only Mayo. I called and spoke to the manager and got nothing but attitude! He was trying to "teach me" what fully involved was. It was not the same as the other subs for the NY Steamer. I tried to get it into his head that my sub only had mayo, that I was not looking for anything, I was just trying to correct a problem with who ever made the sub so the next Shmuck would get what he paid for!!! I was in the Restaurant Business for seven years, am a graduate of the Culinary Institute of America, so I have a basic understanding of food service. Funny thing is last night we ordered from a local burger place and they left out one order. At least the Burger place was polite and offered to make it right! read more
