The service and overall atmosphere was such a negative experience I won't be returning. I was greeted at the register with direct negativity and attitude. When I finished ordering, the older lady who was working the register forgot to press and send the transaction over to me so that I can use ApplePay to pay, and when I asked if I can pay she looked at me like I was asking her the stupidest question in the world. She looked at her end of the POS system and figured it out eventually but until that point, we were staring at each other - it was SO WEIRD. When I finally got my food nearly 20 minutes later in an almost completely empty restaurant, the to-go bag was covered and sauced in mayo and lettuce. The lack of customer service definitely leaked into the effort that goes into preparing the food. The place would get a 0/10 if possible. No excuse to treat your customers that way. read more

I have always been a fan of Firehouse subs. I typically get the New York Steamer, but this time I got the Turkey Bacon Ranch and it was a good change. I enjoyed this sandwich so much, it may be my new favorite. I highly recommend them. read more

Horrible, horrible, horrible customer service by the older lady running the cash register. Not sure if she was having a bad day or what, but her attitude was HORRIBLE. We just moved here a week ago. Don't bother. Mediocre food, horrible service. Had the cashier "Janie" , talking shit to me because I declined to give an additional 2 dollars to charity. Being active duty apparently wasn't enough self sacrifice to warrant a civil exchange to order food. A cold a poorly made sandwich with skimpy toppings took almost 20 minutes... so thanks for that. What really gets me is when a customer places a pickup order online, and even uses capital letters and says PLEASE in the special instructions box...the special instructions are not followed. I had a BAD experience here a few years ago and steered away from this place for a while, I gave it a try maybe 2 times after because others wanted to come. Well tonight reminded me why I should stay clear of this place. I ordered a turkey bacon RANCH sub, took it home and realized after one bite there was no ranch on the sub at all. I also added pickles and vinegar which where not on the sub either, they were add ons so I understand kinda why they weren't added but still how can you forget an ingredient that's literally in the name of the sub!! I called and I just said the ranch was missing, and the only thing they told me to do was bring back the sub I took one bite out of so they can put it on. I worked in the food industry for years, you cannot bring eaten food onto your prep area. Even if it's one bite. Hello, cross contamination!! And health code violations. There is also COVID-19 happening and it just makes me wonder how many people they tell to bring back their food so they can add stuff on they forgot. Ew!! read more

Birthday sub, fast, friendly, young staff. Three young ladies working in Newport News but , they were on top of things. One stocking, one fixing subs, the other taking orders. One of the young ladies was in training, but, it was smooth and flawless they took time with her, never missing a beat to smile and keep working with customers. I've been to this firehouse subs a few times. The last time I was here, it was great. Fresh food, great service, and a nice environment. Today was a disappointment. I chose to come here over a restaurant in the same strip. I was welcomed by the cashier with a huge smile. She has brown hair and braces. Very nice. I felt like a friend. I ordered a hot, large steak and cheese sandwich combo. The sandwhich came out and it looked great but it was cold. And within 1 minute of it sitting on the table, the bun was completely liquid-logged. Like the bun was mushing apart. I asked for a new bun and the meat to be heated. The cashier was really nice about it, but the manager on duty wasn't the most enthusiastic. Then, I get the new one. Bun is a bit better, but meat is still cold. I usually have a great experience every time my husband and I come here but for some odd reason today was different... First off my husband asked for NO tomatoes on his Italian and when he got it didn't you know there were tomatoes on it! Ate there once because I got a gift card. I got the Steamer sub. There was so little on it, all I could taste was the sauce.

The quality of the food is really good. But the menu is really underwhelming. I feel like there's not a lot of options you have a very limited selection to choose from and to me that's a little off-putting from a sandwich restaurant I would like a little bit more variety. And it does take a little bit longer than I expected for the food to actually be done which isn't necessarily a bad thing but going to a sandwich shop you kind of expect it to not take a terribly long time and when I went it took a decently long time read more

Very clean restaurant with quality sandwiches. Menu is not very extensive but the choices are tasty. The smokehouse cheddar beef was pretty amazing. The order did take a little bit to come out but it was worth it. I like that when you get a sub to go they neatly wrap a pickle up in with it - nice touch. They have a fun soda machine that mixes up all different flavors of sprite, coke, root beer, and fanta - over 120 different possibilities - I've never had strawberry sprite before at a sub shop! Best subs that we've had in Sumter. Only problem we have with them is that they often screw up take out orders if you deviate from the actual menu. For instance, one time my son got the BBQ brisket sandwich but ordered it without cheese. Got home, there was cheese but no BBQ sauce. Another time my other son ordered it with no BBQ sauce, got home and there was sauce but no cheese. Another time, I ordered the kids meal for my toddler which is supposed to come with a rice krispie square. Got home and no rice krispie square. Next time I went in I told them and they gave him one to make up for it which was nice. Everything we've ordered from here has been delicious but I just wish they'd pay better attention to the orders. Subs are a thousand times better than Subway. Much better selection too. read more

Visited this location today (7/12/19) to pick up an online order, and am really perplexed about the level of customer service presented by the two older ladies there today. One looked to be a manager the other I'm guessing a regular employee. An older lady forgot to mention she wanted lettuce and tomato on her sub. (Not a big deal) I doubt they'd even started making it yet. The manager looking lady snapped back you didn't tell her when she took your order. The customer stated she didn't know she needed too. The older lady making the sandwich rolls her eyes and throws her hands up like the customer was stupid and clueless of the process when a simple yes ma'am would've sufficed. The young Black gentlemen there was the most pleasant part of the visit. He exhibited exceptional manners that would make any mother proud when assisting with customers. Those ladies need to find a new career field because customer service isn't there strong point. read more

We stopped at Firehouse and ordered several subs on our way through Sumter SC at dinner time on Nov. 4, 2015. One of the orders was a BLT sub and what we got was a "B" sub, that is bacon only. When I called to ask the manager for a credit he argued that was what I ordered and I was told if I wanted a credit I'd have to bring the receipt back as that was the only was the transaction could be handled. When I explained I was on my way out of town he said he couldn't help that. We won't be going to Firehouse again. There are far too many better options with better service out there. read more
