Always a good choice I arrived 15 minutes before closing and with few other customers I suspect they were finishing up for the day. There was only one person out front and I only saw one other person pop in and out with the ice tea dispenser. No "Welcome to Firehouse" greeting this time but I was still welcomed. Once the one person finished up with another customer it was my turn and I ordered their Hook & Ladder sandwich "fully involved", a delicious toasted ham and turkey sub with cheese, veggies and with both mustard and mayo. This is what I regularly get at a Firehouse closer to where I live and the sandwich I got at this Fruitville location was just as good. I never leave reviews unless really bad or really good. I'm 40 min away from this store. Went in on way home. Ordered 3 simple Sandwiches. ALL wrong. I came back with not one ingredient on the sandwiches I ordered. Three all three out. Wow! That was a horrible experience. I have been going to Firehouse since living In Jacksonville 25 plus years ago. We walked in and they were mopping the floor 30 minutes before closing. We felt like we were bothering the staff. We were told we had to take out. Which is what we planned to do. The credit card machine was not working correctly. Our sandwiches were started. The person mopping left that task and started making out sandwiches. He did not change the gloves he was mopping with while he made our sandwiches. At this point we felt so uncomfortable we didn't say anything. We got the sandwiches, walked out into the plaza and threw them out. Sorry guys. Not impressed. Walked in at 11am. Three orders ahead of me. Three people working. They had the same guy work the cash register and make the sandwiches. The other two were just standing there. I would recommend staying away from this location if you have celiac disease or are gluten free. Yes, the do offer gluten free bread however what the staff doesn't tell you when you order is they use the same spread all the condiments using the same utensil for gluten and non gluten bread. Then the staff who is in earshot says they hate people who order Gluten free that most time they are making it up. Definitely better quality gluten free options in the area. read more

Nah. I'm a usual at Jersey Mikes and other sub shops back in my home state. Roommate convinced me to try this spot. Not impressed at all. Walked in and the place was full of smoke and a bad smell from what I assume was burnt bacon. An employee was in a weird standoff-ish situation with a customer and basically scolding him. Waited in line for a while even though there was only 1 person ahead. Ordered my sandwich. Price is on par with other sub shops. Then we waited. And waited. And waited. Roughly 15-20 minutes passed. Much too long to wait for a sub. There was prob 4-5 employees behind the counter too. Not sure what takes them so long. Finally the sandwich came. We took it home and ate. They had asked if I wanted a pickle to which I replied yes. It's essential for a good sun for me. They gave me no pickle. First negative. Tried me sandwich. No. The bread was dry and not tasty. The meat was not tasty either. And no pickle. I instantly regretted the lost money and wasted time. I tried a pack of some hot sauce they have too, threw it out. No good. I love Firehouse so much. I really do. It's my first choice for a sandwich. So when I moved offices to a location close to this shop I was super excited - Firehouse right across the street! But my first visit was a disappointment. I know that Firehouse is not always fast, due to the nature of how their sandwiches are made, so I ordered ahead online. I ordered at 12:06, it said it would be ready at 12:18. So I roll in at 12:20, and it's not ready which is fine - they're busy. 12:30. Still not ready. 12:35 - it's ready! I haul back to my car because now I'm a little pressed for time, pop open the box and...my turkey sandwich is actually ham. I go back inside, they apologize, and remake the sandwich. 12:50, ready with the right sandwich. I feel bad...I really love Firehouse and I know these folks are working hard right at lunchtime. But I feel like 45 minutes is a little excessive to get an accurate order. I'm willing to give it another try, since it's so close...but it would be really sad if this was the norm for this location because I would for sure have been a regular lunch customer! read more

The Fruitville restaurant is the worst location ever! Took over 30 minutes to get our food and that was after 6 other customers that got there after us got theirs. For whatever reason they didn't have our ticket. We had to say something and what made matters worse is that we didn't even get an apology! I will never visit this location ever again. I have eaten here at least 12 times and I have never had a bad meal. Their products are always fresh and were always consistent. The staff is friendly and their tables were always clean when I ate there. Bottom Line: It's a good, fast food joint. I think you will appreciate that also. read more

Worst customer service ever!!! Short staffed, and then the owners show up and start yelling at the staff instead of making the orders. They complained they had to drive all the way from Tampa. After waiting 45 mins for 4 sandwiches and they didn't even start, we asked for our money back. The owners started giving an attitude. Didn't apologize for the inconvenience or anything. The firehouse subs on fruitville such an amazing, clean place to eat. But the reason it's so amazing it's because of the awesome people who work here ran by the best management crew I've ever known. Their customers always come first and they constantly go above and beyond to make sure the customers have a great dining experience. Their food is always fresh and stocked so everything is always available. They give warm welcoming greetings as you enter. You almost feel at home when you're here. They workers all work together to make sure you receive your food in a timely manner and your order is always right. I love coming here especially with my kids. It's a family friendly environment and i recommend this to everyone i know. This is the best firehouse in Sarasota- and the manager has the best shift leaders helping him run the store. Dirty, Dirty, Dirty!!! The food is good but what has happened to this place? We come here all the time and the past 3 times it's been hard to find even 1 table that was clean. I had to go to the bathroom and dump a bunch of sanitizer on some napkins so I could clean the table. The workers just talk in a huddle and watch their customers clean the tables. Edit: we have since gone back and eaten here. A big improvement! Finally a clean restaurant and the food is still great! Way to go Fire house! You deserve a 5 star for stepping up!! This location, at least in my experience seems to be "behind the curve" when it comes to friendliness and getting your order right. I went here a few days ago on a Saturday afternoon around 4 PM to get an Medium Italian Sub on Whole Wheat- no mayo. What I got was an Italian sub ON WHITE (which I am unable to eat due to dietary restrictions) WITH Mayo. The manager actually made my sub and confirmed my order, not once, but twice. Yet, I still got a sub that I could not eat and it ended up in the trash. Very disappointing PLUS every Firehouse Subs shop greets customers coming thru the door with, "Welcome to Firehouse Subs." Crickets when I and other customers walked thru the door. This location needs some work. I will take my business elsewhere where they actually listen to the customer's order and get that order correct. read more
