The good: I was so surprised to find a Ukrainian deli store here! We were eating nearby when we saw the sign for this spot and decided we had to check it out. The cashier was so kind and let my toddler pick out a free lollipop. The medovik (honey cake) here was supreme! It was perfectly moist and didn't have an old fridge smell (sometimes other medoviks I've had from deli shops taste like the air, fridge or deli meats they are next to). Their fresh cakes looked so scrumptious. I also got some baked kefir drink here. The store is very organized and clean. They had a lot of deli meat options. The bad: It's bad that I can't find a similar place with medovik like theirs closer to me! The interesting: They sold a lot of Easter related things like Easter bread. read more

Kiev Deli is a nice little store with great Eastern European items. The shelves are lined with all sorts of goodies; canned goods, sweets, on and on. For fresh items, they have a wide variety of meats and cheeses, one case from Poland and one case from other European and US locations. We bought some smoked kielbasa (haven't tried it yet), a wheat bread and some bologna (European style) but made here. The bologna and bread were pretty good. Service was quick and easy. read more

I was at this store recently and bought a lot I wanted to try the string cheese and they had multiple different ones so I asked the sales man which one is his favourite and he handed me the one that I payed for When I got home I opened it and it tasted really weird I tried many kinds and it never tasted like that Then I checked the expiration date on it and it was expired more than a month ago Basically he handed me not his favourite one but the one he needed to be sold Never buy anything there before checking the date and never trust the sales man read more

My mom and I bought some sausages, head cheese, cake, and candy and all are bland and tasteless. The sausages we gave to my dogs because they were not good. I wanted to buy some Marzipan, there was only 1 left so I went to grab the log and to my horror, it was already opened! The candy they have is stale and just tastes like someone left it out for weeks letting it dry out. Spent $100 here and with the horrible quality of things, never going back. The staff was rude as well talking badly about me in Polish thinking I did not understand them but I did. Place is dirty and not handicapped friendly because the isles are so small. read more

Stopped in for a sandwich at lunchtime. Friendly man behind the counter made a great sandwich. The pickle was a nice surprise when I got home to eat it. Store was super stocked with Eastern European goods and treats. Will return!! read more

Well, after LA Fitness stop by in Kiev Deli. Very Nice, clean and a lot of assortments of foods, if you like to purchase a Russians style foods. Very welcome co-workers, as specially Sergei, he is nice person and always ready to help if you have any questions about product. Unfortunately, the owners ( lady), she was very rude and not greeting welcome back! It was my first visit to Kiev store and will be last one. read more

I have never been to a European delivery before so be forgiving of my ignorance. I stopped by on the advice of Yelp and I was glad I did. I had the owner, Mark, make me a sandwich, any kind he wanted with whatever he wanted on top. He did a great job! The sandwich was 3 inches high and packed with all types of meats and cheese. Their rye bread was excellent as well. Bottom line: stop in for a delicious sandwich and don't forget to buy some European sundries as well. It's a good joint. read more

My wife and I were in Sarasota house hunting and were looking for an alternative to a fast-food lunch. Came upon Kiev Deli and ordered 2 ham and cheese sandwiches to go. Honestly, they were the best deli sandwiches we have ever had. The woman that created them was an artist sandwich maker. Highly, highly recommend Kiev Deli to prepare your party platters for your next event. Your guests will be wowed. The meat and cheese selections are all imported, and as spoiled as we are locally with the availability of Boars Head, we truly haven't savored artisanship like Kiev Deli prepares. Olga will ask your prefernces, but trust her judgement as well. For our office Christmas party for 15, she suggested dry salami, ham, and cheese platters, each with a condiment/salad compliment. Talk about a hit! We have teammates from Poland and Hungary, and they, as well as us "locals" knew we experienced a culinary treat. To round out your spread, they offer pastries and desserts from European local bakeries (Italian, Greek, france). They also sell European breads from Bavarian Bakery in Sarasota, so that saves you another trip. Just tell them ahead of time what you want so they accomodate your specific needs. Can't say enough about Olga and Marc...they know their customers and truly delight in pleasing them. P.S. They also offer grocery items from Eastern Europe, Italy, and the rest of the Mediterranean. I'm Polish and I love Eastern European Foods. When I saw this little deli, I thought I should check it out. The store looked good, but it didn't have much of what I was looking for. I decided to try some of the cold cuts and the lady at the counter wanted me to try everything before she sliced it. I thanked her and told her that I just ate. I grabbed few more things and headed out. Everything was fine until the next morning. The ham was slimy and the sausage wasn't fresh at all! It was my first and last trip to that store! I love the husband and wife team that operate this deli. So nice and so friendly. My bf and I always come in and stock up on European goodies. Love their meat and cheese selection, very delicious and fresh. They also have a wide variety of sweets, drinks, teas, pickled goods, pâtés, and caviars. Ordered a sandwich. Gentleman behind the counter notified me it will just be a few minutes as he needs to ring up customers before me and he is the only one in the store, understandable. Begins to prepare ingredients for my sandwich, phone rings and he answers. He then proceeds to ring up a customer, after answering the phone, who came in after me which took more than 10 minutes. More people came in which he would've probably rang up before even beginning my sandwich. I decided to just leave. Finishing one task at a time and taking care of customers orders as they are placed is optimal and very courteous, not taking care of other customers task especially ones who came in after. Was extremely unhappy with service and l left hungry and disappointed considering the great reviews. It was my first time going here. Will not return again. I was never even able to experience their food. read more

Great selection of Eastern European foods...from candy to wine. Lots of different types of pickles, cheeses, deli meats and pastries. I never leave without a Baklava (from Tarpon Springs) and an assortment of irresistible food. Very friendly and helpful folks as well. It's not a huge store, but they have managed to cover the bases...all at reasonable prices. Next time you're in the area, take a look. While you're there, Sarasota Wine & Spirits has some of the best prices in town on Bourbon, etc. I'm not affiliated with either..but I have to admit, I seem to visit both weekly :) read more

Few days ago I bought caviar in the Kiev Deli shop and the Owner of the shop sold me the Bowfin caviar for the price of the sturgeon caviar for 75 dollars which is 3 times more, the usual price fo the Bowfin caviar is 25 dollars for 100 grams but NOT 75 dollars. Be aware of it, they are dishonest people selling cheap bowfin caviar in the same blue tin as the sturgeon caviar!!!! read more
