I ordered the spicy fried chicken sandwich. This is the 1st time I was disappointed at a Chick-fil-A. The sandwich was about the size of a small hamburger. I thought it was, as others noted it to be as "hearty." I thought it would be dressed, as other sandwiches are. It was a buttery bun with 2 pickle slices on the bottom. That was odd to me. So, $6.60 for this? Then, it was rather dark batter. I'm not sure if it was only the spices or older oil. As for spicy, that it definitely was. It depends on your taste. This was spicy from what tastes like white pepper and cayenne pepper. Those linger way too long for me.

My friends ordered a couple of apps which were all good - there's a grazing board which had a lot of fresh and flavorful bites. I ended up ordering the smashburger because it was the special. I hadn't planned on eating the whole thing, but I did and I don't regret it. They have flat cut fries which needed a little more flavor, but still good. Service was okay enough. When at the table, he didn't check to see if everyone was good each time, which led to multiple visits when things could have been handled all at once. We had to ask for small app plates, and silverware was not provided at all spots. Dishes were never cleared when bringing additional apps, so we took to stacking and rearranging plates. And no one seemed to be quite sure of the happy hour specials, if any. All and all, it's a great place to watch the game, and I assume a good place for kids to go because it's so open and wide.

I stopped going because of the major jump in price of the food especially the wings but they are not a big chain so I get it. Things are served à la carte here but on my last visit I got wings and fries. They charge 50 cents to put Tony's on top and call it spicy fries. Hard pass. The wings were good but not enough to stand out on the price point. I would say don't knock it til you try it though. Burgers also seem to be a hit here. The menu is massive. Waited a little while to try this place out but have been going to the Baton Rouge location since…read moreabout 10 months after opening. We always eat inside, unless we are just getting a shake, then we use the drive thru. The service inside is always great, it's always clean and the food is typically brought you in a very timely manner for being cooked to order. The burgers are always juicy and contain a really good sear. The taste of beef and really good rendered beef fat is the flavor you get first. Which in my opinion, I want the great taste of seared beef and the juices to carry the burger. Not a sauce, not a bun, the beef. Shake Shack uses Martin's potato buns, which is the best bun for burgers. Other buns may work however, Martin's potato buns the best. This is the type of burger that doesn't even need condiments, however their shack sauce is good but very similar to other burger sauces. Their Chicken Shack has also been very good when I ordered it a few times. Chicken is hot and crispy. The pickles are good but the herb aioli is a must. Get extra on the side, it's really good with the sandwich and fries. I tried the limited time BBQ rib sandwich, it was also very good. However, not as good as the burger or chicken sandwich. It's a shame but also not horrible the best burger in Baton Rouge comes from a chain. It's disappointing because just like pizza, Baton Rouge does not have any great options. Shake Shack being the best available in Baton Rouge isn't a bad thing though because it's a really good to great burger and two, because of all the chain places it's arguably the best. You could argue Five Guys or In N Out, but I have had all three and Shake Shack is the best in my opinion as far as chains go.
