While waiting for my sandwich I noticed a staff member come from behind the counter. They went to the trash container next to the front entrance, took container liner out, push trash down to take out. Then directly back to behind the counter. I watched them then continue to work behind the counter at the sandwich making station. Minutes later that same person came out with my sandwich. Makes me wonder if they changed their gloves or washed their hands. I was Serve Safe certified and should've spoke up but did not. I'm not saying my current upset stomach is because of that, but I should've spoke up. Please stress to your staff proper hygiene/ protocol when doing cleaning when they are also tasked w making our food. The sandwich tasted fine. You could bake them an extra minute for my taste. read more

I love this place. The food is delicious, it doesn't matter what I order! The people are generally friendly, for the most part.

I went in to place an order and waited and nobody acknowledged me! An employee came up by the register and I asked is there anyone to take my order. He asked his coworker if there was someone to take an order. He then proceeded to tell me im not clocked in and then went towards the back to get someone read more

To put it where the goats can get it....this place is horrible. 31 minutes to get two subs tonight. what made it worse was that the second one was wrong. we ordered a meat only sub with mustard...literally bread, meat, and mustard. We instead were given the back 9 of the local country club spread all over a sandwich with tomatoes, onions, and cheese thrown on it like ray charles playing darts. Great job firehouse subs at failing miserably. Probably wouldn't be as hot if it weren't overly expensive and waiting 30 minutes. picture below for reference. read more

Firehouse Subs - The WRONG sandwich - Sandwiches Near Me - Kalamazoo, Michigan

First time visitor. Didn't do anything fancy and ordered off the menu. Along with sandwiches that already have names (fire department type names) from the menu you can do a build your own sandwich or get a salad. I'm pretty basic sandwich person so ordered the hook and ladder. As is. Now that I've been I know what changes to make in the future as far as the add on that I like. The sandwich was toasted and once the order was complete one of the staff brought it to us. Will definitely go back again. It was fairly busy and the staff seemed pleasant. Some of the tables needed to be wiped down, but with it being the lunch time hour I get them not having time. read more

Only one in the drive through and it takes 30 minutes to make a mediums sized sub. What is going on in there?

First time here and the staff was friendly and pleasant. I got the smoked brisket sub, chips, and drink. My boyfriend got the Turkey, chips, and drink. I love the layout of the restaurant with the firehouse signs, jackets, hat. We will come back again for sure. read more

I stopped by to order lunch through the drive through. The gentleman taking orders came in and asked me if I minded waiting for him to come back in a few minutes, and the. Something else that I couldn't understand. I said I could hold, but didn't understand him. He quickly repeated it and I tried to clarify his directions...which sounded like he could take my order and I would have to wait 25 minutes for my order. So after I asked for clarification he said very annoyed with me, "yes, that's exactly what I said 3 times now". I will not be back, and I do not recommend it to anyone. Terrible customer service. read more

Costumer service was not good, to put it mildly. Waited 30mins in drive thru line by window (only me in line...). First time and last time. Got the steak and cheese, didnt taste good. read more

Rude employee that mocks customers when ordering at the drive thru. Very insensitive and disrespectful.

While I was waiting for my order, another customer came in and showed them that his Turkey sub was full of plastic strands. I had ordered the same subs and asked that they please check and ensure my subs did not have any plastic (they said they would). Meanwhile the staff is pointing fingers about who's fault it was and not seeming to take it seriously in front of the customers. I got home and both our subs had a bunch of plastic strands, and because the sub were heated they were partially melted into the Turkey, making them inedible. read more

Love Firehouse subs. This order was terrible! I ordered a side of Macaroni and cheese and received a small container half full! How can you do business like this???? read more

When Firehouse Subs opened in Kalamazoo, a friend told me that it was the best sub place he had ever been to. I was skeptical, and waited several months to try it; it did not disappoint! The subs are great, including large portions of meat, soft bread, and a good mix of spices & sauces. They also have a few different sizes to choose from. Definitely worth visiting! read more

WISH I COULD GIVE A 0. Writing this leaving the drive thru line... we've been waiting for an hour and 15 minutes and it was only us and two other cars when we first got here (with small orders). I even went in to the restroom and there were no customers inside, and they were fully staffed, so I have no clue how they spend their time. They seemed to just be standing around talking. The driver of the truck in front of us even got out and leaned through the drive thru window to see what the hold up was- which can we point out what a huge safety risk it is that the employees just leave the window and the cash register wide open while they walk away for 30 minutes? I quite literally just got soup and my family got two of the exact same easy to make subs, and I wish it wasn't so good or else I would avoid this place at all cost. AND when the subs FINALLY came out, my soup wasn't even in the bag. So furious and tempted to never come back after this experience. It genuinely frustrates me that there are so many negative reviews and the business keeps responding with how they're "on it" and will "make changes", but it's been years of terrible service and nothing changes. While I genuinely would miss the food, I hope they close this location. read more

So as you can tell from my last review I'm not impressed with Firehouse. But wifey wants, wifey gets. And I'm glad I listened. Met this young lady named Comile (pothead spelling sorry). She had an inviting smile and was very impressionable. She took our order and asked the right questions and our food was delivered so much faster than the last time. I was so disappointed in Firehouse that I deleted their app. No I won't be reinstalling it, but wife did. read more

Order to go was messed up. Ordered sub with no mayonnaise and when I got home 8 miles later found the error. Had to return to store for fix. Not happy read more

This is the worst fast food sub I have ever tasted. The pictures on the ads are completely misleading. It looks like the meatball sub is placed under a broiler but that is not true. The staff told be all they do is toast the soft wonder bread bun and steam the sub. I told her that the ad on television shows a toaster sub with browned cheese on top. Her response was "we have an ad?" The "New York" sub was an extremely small single slice of processed corned beef and pastrami along with way to much mayo. The Italian sub had more meat but had so much mayo that the meat slid out from the bun on the first attempted bite. This sub shop is at the bottom of the fast food sub shops..(Subway, etc) read more

There were 6 employees and it took them 25 minutes to make our subs. There was one person ahead of us. Part way through they stopped our food order to do a drive thru order. And I will add that none of the subs were made as ordered. Very disappointing! read more

I cannot abide Subway. That being said, I can safely say Firehouse is just a lateral step to the left of Subway. The concept of supporting our local public safety officers by purchasing food from this establishment is a nice touch. So money not completely wasted. The sandwiches sound good on paper. I ordered The Engineer, turkey and cheese on wheat, and husband ordered the pastrami and beef combo, the name escapes me. Both *looked* good, but the flavor was completely lacking. My daughter, the former super-carnivore-turned-vegetarian-again, was not so lucky. She ordered the broccoli and cheese soup and side salad with BALSAMIC VINAIGRETTE DRESSING (I have this capitalized for a reason)with NO TOMATOES. Her salad came with Italian dressing and chock full of tomatoes. (The manager took the order and we specified no tomatoes and repeated ourselves so there would be no questions. ) Food brought to table and the worker beat a hasty retreat, like he KNEW the order was incorrect and didn't want to be blamed for it being wrong. Husband returned salad and was again brought back to table with no tomatoes this time and Italian dressing again. Went to counter to get balsamic dressing but by then everything was almost eaten and the idea of a twice returned side salad was ridiculous. Sorry things were so complicated, guys. Side salads are hard, apparently. read more

I wanted this place to be great. It was clean, staff was courteous. The sandwiches were pretty meh. Basically subway. I might try again but as of this moment I am quite underwhelmed. On the upside they have one of those awesome soda machines to make lime cokes. They have about 200 hot sauces to choose from. They also let you round up your change for charity. All cool gimics. I just wish the sandwich was better. read more

Firehouse Subs - The Steamer and The Italian. Honestly I couldn't tell them apart flavorwise - Sandwiches Near Me - Kalamazoo, Michigan

I'm giving them a little bit of a break because it was a Saturday and they looked like they had just gotten slammed. The food was good. We just had a lot of problems. I've never been to a sandwich place that was so complicated to order at. We couldn't just tell the guy at the register we wanted an Italian with just meat and cheese. We had to go over the whole menu and tell him what we didn't want on it. It was just kind of annoying and he was kind of impatient with us (it wasn't that busy when we got there). The place was dirty. No lids for drinks, no tables cleaned off, etc. The club was good, the Italian was ok, as was the NY steamer but I don't need to go back again, especially when we have so many other good sandwich places in Kzoo. read more

I was skeptical trying yet another sub shop but Firehouse surprised me. I tried the Italian on wheat and was impressed with the flavor. I ordered to go from inside and it only took about five minutes. They also have a drive thru which seemed to move at a fair pace. Definitely worth a try if you need a quick lunch option. read more

Stopped there today and ordered through the drive up window a corned beef and cheese ONLY, I stressed the ONLY and said specifically none of the other stuff. I asked for it cold and asked for it to be cut into three pieces. I then pulled around to the pay window where I sat for over 5 minutes and no one ever appeared. I had to call them on the phone to ask if someone was going to come take my money and give me my order. A young lady finally appeared and took my money, after my having to tell her I had placed an order. Several minutes later she handed me my sandwich. NOT cut into thirds and had all the other stuff on it. I am not even sure this is corned beef! And after I raved about this place the last time (which was my first time) I was here. Not happy and will not bother to ever come again. read more

Ordered two sandwiches, two large drinks, and two cookies. Upon picking up the order was told it would be $50. When I questioned why so high I was told it was because I had ordered three sandwiches. Once I started correcting them and relayed my order to them , they got very aggressive stating pretty much that I was wrong on what I had ordered. I had a second person that I work with over hear my order and confirmed it. They proceeded to get aggressive and threw in the third sandwich anyway since it was already made. I appreciate the extra but definitely definitely not needed with a side of rude when I just tried to correct them on my order. No need to be aggressive with your customers because someone messed up. read more

Sandwiches are yummy. Also, very thankful for a drive thru option (esp with littles in the car). Time it takes to make subs is a tad on the slow side and when eating inside the table wasn't very clean (hence one star removed). Overall though, I really enjoy this sandwich shop. read more

I like this sub shop better than Subway or any other one in town. I like the New York steamer. Its just a little soggy for me. But the taste is pretty good. Their decore is fun and fits in with their firehouse theme. Staff is generally friendly. read more

3 stars, would of gave it a 5 star if I got my cookie. But I loved the New York sandwich.

Mediocre sandwiches that seemed microwaved. Also, the broccoli cheese soup they served me was spoiled.

I enjoy the food here ! I get the hook and ladder every time. Only thing I'll say is it is a little over priced by a few bucks.

So every time that I go to fire house, they take forever. Now don't get me wrong there food taste great. But if I'm going through a drive-through there is no reason why I should wait more than five minutes to get through the drive-through. This time I ordered two sandwiches two drinks and chips. It took her five minutes just to take the payment, then she hands me my sandwich and is like your all set, umm no I'm not I don't even have my drinks or my chips. This place really needs new management or they just need to train people better because overall waiting in line for food that is great but their service their customer service sucks. read more

I love this place. Discovered we had one in town once the pandemic started and I signed up for uber eats, and now it's my favorite sandwich place. Although they are hot subs, I think the rolls are steamed vs toasted, which some people may not prefer. I just miss quiznos and this place has a sandwich very close to what I used to get there, I think they might even use the same tasty meat. Either way good quality food, far and away beats out subway/JJs and all the other places I've tried in town for subs. They also have never gotten my somewhat picky order wrong. read more
