We preordered food to be ready at 7:15. Get a phone call saying they didn't have steak for our steak and cheeses, whatever things happen. We place different orders. Get there, food hasn't even been started. There wasn't anyone in the store and all of four employees were doing absolutely nothing. Didn't even attempt to make subs at a speedy rate. Didn't leave until 7:30. I have worked at a sub shop and this is absolutely unacceptable. Will be visiting the other location in Frederick for now on. read more

Got the Maryland Steamer on wheat.....the better and softer of the breads I think. $7.20 for just the sandwich. The service as of late has gone downhill. Something has gone awry in the efficiency department. The last 3 visits have resulted in 20+ min waits after the time of order. I witnessed what I think was a supervisor belittle another co-worker in front of everybody (and I've seen it from him on more than one occasion) and tonight capped it off when there were 5 people that I could tell waiting for food, 2 staff making sandwiches, and the rest of the staff was standing around the registers with their friends like it was social hour. There has been a very noticeable and distinct slide in service and professionalism in the last few months. I'm finding it harder and harder to justify a return after this last visit. read more

The staff attended to me as soon as I walked into firehouse. I looked at the menu and decided on the Steak n Cheese, not sure what they call it. I used to eat firehouse subs alot back in 2008, my friends house was across the street and it was always the same conversation- you hungry yeah you yes. Firehouse was always a good starting point. I can say that Firehouse steak is good, I don't know how they do it, what they do to it but it is juicy, thick pieces of beef steak. I can say that I am back as a regular of Firehouse subs. If you go to Firehouse and your a newbie or a regular looking for some variety get the Steak sub, with onion and green peppers and all the other fixings. I think mayo mustard etc. read more

In my opinion, home of the "mini-sub." Firehouse Subs, kind of in the middle of the road and then some. I ordered the loaded steak and cheese with chips (a mini 1 3/8 oz bag) and a drink for $8.98 w/o tax. When I first saw the sub, I thought someone has hit it with a "shrink ray gun." The sub was on the smallish side but the sandwich had decent flavor. The bread was soft and chewy and the meat tasted fresh. Not bad but not great, somewhere in the middle of the road. I'm not going to go out of my way for one of their subs, but may eat there for convenience purposes with a coupon because the size of this sub does not justify paying full price. Don's expect their regular "mini-sub" to fill you up, 'cause it ain't going to happen, in my opinion. read more

Ordered two subs to my work location today. Usually we order from the one on Buckeystown Pike and have never had an issue. Staff is both friendly and helpful. However, today we decided to try the Firehouse Subs located on Kingfisher Dr. in Frederick. While waiting for our order to arrive, the delivery driver, Julius, texted my number complaining about the tip that was given on the order as he had to make a whopping "11 mile drive". I was completely taken aback at the sheer level of arrogance as I have never had any delivery driver text my personal number essentially demanding a larger tip before even delivering me my order. I explained to him that we usually leave a cash tip as well once the driver arrives. Did not receive any type of apology at this time. When our food arrived and I handed him the tip (I honestly shouldn't have given him one as he was extremely rude and unprofessional), I told him that his attitude wasn't exactly good for customer service. He acted shocked and offered a less than sincere apology just stating "wowww" as I closed the door. No thank you on the tip given (which wound up being almost 20%). Our sandwiches weren't even hot when we received them. Will not be ordering from this location again!!! Non-existent customer service. read more

I usually go to the one on Buckeystown Pike because that one runs like a machine. I went to this one last week because I was diverted due to an accident. It was the first time I went to the one on Kingfisher Dr and will definitely be the last. When I went into the restaurant, there was a family already in line, but no one behind the counter. I mean NO ONE. They asked if I knew what I wanted so that I could go ahead of them, and the woman then said, "If they ever get out here." I asked if they had been served yet and was told they had not. When the woman walked past the register to look where the refrigerators were, she saw the entire staff on their cell phones! She then yelled to them to get some help for us. Once one of them came out, he quickly realized he now needed all of them to come out. Everyone of the staff looked like they were too young to even shave yet. The guy took my order and I went to the soda machine to get my drink. They had a total of two medium lids left. I got my drink, grabbed one of the last two lids and went to a table, which was just about out of napkins as well. Additionally, there was food residue from previous customers on just about each of the tables. I tried to grab the one that looked the cleanest. The food came out with no issue, and was delicious, but you would think that a restaurant that does the kind of volume they do, which had about 5-6 employees working at one time could leave one person out front, could fill the lids and napkin holders back up, and clean the damn tables off. The place was disgusting. Like I said, the one on Buckeystown Pike is always spotless, always has help out front so they know you are there, and generally always have supplies and utensils filled when you get there. They place is also always spotless. It seems to be a management issue. I love their food, but will not be back to this one....EVER. read more

If this was the best sandwhich I ever had in my life then perhaps I could understand the time that went into it's preparation. Did not have the best experience today. Jess was behind the counter taking orders. She seemed rushed although there was only one person behind us. She cashed out our order as I was typing my reward information, so I didn't get any of the points we paid for. A few minutes after getting our food Jess walked around the dining room passing out $2 off coupons. I go to this firehouse a lot, and when I get those coupons it makes my visits even more frequent! She passed out coupons to the tables before us, walked by my table without stopping, then gave coupons to the table behind us. I'm not sure why she decided to only skip my table. The food was great as always and normally the staff is really nice (especially the owner). I will come back for the food but the service today really left me on a sour note. I come here at least once a week in the evening and the food is great! Service is always great and the manager and crew knows my order so the second I come in they start ringing it up and making it. Tonight, both my husband and I were out to grab a bite to eat (without kids). We have "ALWAYS" had fairly quick, friendly service in the past (the food is always good too). However, tonight when we walked in we saw 5 Very Unhappy customers in there as we were walking in as well as the 4 employees (1 female and 3 males) behind the counter. They were speaking with Very Firm and with Loud Voices to each other without caring who heard them. They continued to "Bark" orders about who, what or where each other should be, etc and didn't seem to be accomplish anything. As they began to get frustrated things began to be slammed down hard, someone mentioned about hitting or hurting each other and what was going to be done if someone touched the other. I have my husband some looks like maybe we should just leave. We were asked if we were ready to order and with so much going on we hadn't even looked at the menu and weren't sure if we should even order anything at all. We did decide to place an order and waited about 12-15mins for our order. A customer who only ordered one sub finally received his order after 40-45mins. We ordered 2 subs, I was reconsidering getting my money back. As this customer picked up his order the other customers clapped & responded "Next time I'll just go to Roy Rogers". I then inquired how long the others had been there their response was 1 for 35mins & the other 30mins. I looked at my husband and spoke to someone trying to keep my voice down as another customer had just ordered not to cause a domino effect with the other customers. I asked if I could just our money back...The gentleman said, "Sure that's not a problem asked the name of the person it was under & then proceeded to yell out...Cancel the order for ...... As he began to pull the register up for my refund he was hitting the keys fairly hard & I said that it was okay to just breath. His response is I'm not angry with you just the whole situation that has lead up to this point. I expressed to him that customers were listening to them argue, slam doors, cabinets, etc. He again reminded me it wasn't me it was the situation. As I was getting ready to leave the other customers clapped & stated that I was the smart one for getting a refund. One gentleman (customer) came out shortly after us and stated that he should've done that sooner. I have personally seen these owners in there before and have seen first hand how well things flow and this is by no means joy what they would want for their business!!! We all have our off days...not really sure out of 4 employees who was the Supervisor on duty but this was not a good reflection on ANY OF THEM. Just went in today to get subs, doubt I'll ever go back. The manager is horrible and rude to his employees. Instead of helping the kids making the food, the manager just belittles them and shames them in front of customers which is awkward for the employees and the customer... trust me. Anyways, I ordered 2 subs to go and a drink. The soda machine was out of most choices, not really a deal breaker. The deal breaker was when I got home, my sub didn't have the turkey on it. Neither sub had the pickle spear either. I called the manager to inform him of the mishap. I was left on hold for 5 mins and when I told the manager that I would be back in a few mins to ask if they could have my sub ready for me so I wouldn't have to wait again. I was told "no" so either way I went back in to the store. The manager offered me a $2 off a combo deal for my next visit. That was nice of him except for the fact that I spent more than $2 driving back to the store. Then on top of everything, I still had to wait 15 mins to get my sub made again. The whole time the manager was rude and disrespectful to the employees. I would fire that guy in a heartbeat and I want a free sub for the things in had to go through for a sub par sub. read more

We usually go to the other Firehouse in Frederick which is AWESOME. Great food and service. Today we decided to try this location and it was a complete disappointment. The staff were so distracted with socializing with each other. The girl who took my order got it all wrong and then didn't know what it was when the other girl asked for clarification. The ice machine was empty which nobody seemed to care about (even though people were asking for it). Both iced tea containers were almost empty with that horrible bottom-of-the-barrel taste. Our food took more than 20 minutes to come to our table. The girl apologized for the wait and said it was due to a "very long line." There were two other tables eating in the entire restaurant and there was one person in line. The food wasn't prepared correctly (we get the same sandwich at the other location every single time and it's always amazing). They forgot to toast the bread...blah blah blah. I went to this location with my two children. I order a sub and requested the meat not to be steamed and placed the order to go. The staff was friendly but the service was very slow. While waiting for my sub I had decided to try their advertised cherry limeade but found the limes were all brown on the outside. I asked a staff member if I could have fresh lime and she went into the back...never received it. Upon checking my order I realized that the meat on my sub had in fact been steamed. The staff said they would make another sub right away. I took my second order and went home. When I got home I opened my sub only to find cold meat and NO cheese, NO toppings or condiments. I drove all the back to the restaurant and asked to speak to the manager as I had 2 incorrect orders now and 40 minutes of wasted time and two trips. She was very rude. I had requested my money back and she credited me only for the sub even though I paid for the combo and spent over 30.00 on all the orders. She told me I would have to return the fountain drink and chips in order to have a full refund!!!!! Simply ridiculous! Then when I mentioned the condition of the limes she proceeded to argue about how they were fresh. That as long as they were not brown on the inside they were good.
