Firehouse was spotless on our visit. There are a couple flat-screen TVs mounted on the wall for viewing pleasure. A rewards program is in place for those who eat sub sandwiches often. Nutritional information is listed for every item served. Firehouse deals mainly in specialty subs. The sandwich topping bar is not visual to the customers like it is at Subway or Quizno's. There are only two bread choices: white or wheat. A hot sauce bar is offered for those who like heat. I ordered the medium (8") fully loaded (mayo, mustard, lettuce, tomato, onion & a dill pickle spear) Hook & Ladder on wheat for $6.49: Smoked turkey breast, honey ham and Monterey Jack cheese. I added a bag of Mrs. Vickie's jalapeno chips for $1.29. My wife ordered a medium (8") custom sandwich on white bread for $6.49: turkey breast, Swiss cheese and mayo. She was also given a dill pickle spear. She added a bag of Frito's to her meal for $1.29. When we arrived at home, both sandwiches were still warm. I was delighted to see that our pickle spears were individually wrapped in a plastic baggie to avoid pickle juice seeping onto our sandwiches. We both really enjoyed our lunch choices and felt that the 8" sandwich length is the perfect portion size for each of us. I have been wanting to try this place for awhile but never really near them. I got to try it today. I had the steak and cheese. The picture made my mouth water. I was expecting something like a Philly Cheese steak. What I got was a big disappointment. The first thing I thought was there was no flavor. Very little peppers and onions. I had to hunt for the mushrooms and they didnt put the spicy brown mustard as advertised. This might seem weird but if I get a steak sub and dont need a napkin there is something wrong. I've never been more bummed in my life. had the longest day at work and all I wanted was a fire sub and those amazing deli pickles. The firehouse where I used to live in OR was always so good. Got the club on a sub that comes with "crispy" bacon-- might as well have been raw. Asked to sub the cheese with pepper jack, came with no cheese at all. Asked for an extra pickle on the side, my roommates just wanted the one, none of us got pickles. Also asked for a side of ranch and hot sauce, didnt get those either. My boyfriend got the hook and ladder that came with less meat than they give you as a standard at subway. All of the specifics were listed and obviously ignored on the order receipt. I read an online review of Firehouse Subs that was very positive so, based on that, I decided to stop for lunch. I ordered the Italian sub and came away with a mixed opinion on their offering. First of all, the bread was very high quality with just a little bit of the crust you would find in an authentic Italian sub roll. Unfortunately I had a difficult time trying to identify any of the other ingredients that you would normally find on a sub. There was no distinct presence of salami, provolone, or any of the other things found in an Italian sub. They may have been there, but they were pretty much indistinguishable. It's sad to say, but a couple months back I went to 7-11 and bought one of their pre-made subs and it was superior in quality to what I was able to get from Firehouse. So I guess I'll have to go back to making mine at home or going to 7-11 when I get the urge for a sub. read more

Let's dive in on why this was an OK experience but not one that would convince me to come back. First I'll say we ordered our food through DoorDash and from what I've seen in these other reviews maybe it's the driver not checking everything is present prior to leaving? Maybe it's the restaurant not getting it all together in time? Who knows... Our order was also missing items like the pickles which were mentioned on the menu several times so I thought they'd specifically get that right, and our driver took an extra long amount of time to arrive so the bread on our large sandwich was a little soggy from the tomatoes and lettuce but overall was still edible. On to actual review of the food! The Small Meatball sub ordered with double meat came with almost zero sauce on the sandwich meatballs and the cheese was baked as a shell so by the time it arrived it was like a display sandwich almost, not *fresh* but not old either. The double meat option comes in the form of two extra meatballs with-- LOTS OF SAUCE!! Wish that had been on my sub... But I ended up scraping the sauce on to the sandwich and that improved it quite a bit. The menu specifically says that these meatballs are special but I've made more flavorful meatballs using frozen meatballs and a frying pan with some sauce. Just being honest, I love meatball subs and I make them at home a lot so if your menu says it'll change how I see meatballs, it better be right. :) Did not receive pickle on side. Next on to the Small Brisket sub ordered with double meat and sautéed mushrooms, no mayo, chopped pickle, pepper and olives. I *believe* the double meat was there, but there wasn't an extra container like with the meatballs so I can't confirm portions. Sadly, my sautéed mushrooms did not make it on to the sub, something I had greatly been anticipating... but on the plus side neither did the mayonnaise and that's great! Did not receive pickle on the side. The large Hero Sub was made accurately, with no pickle on the side. Tomatoes and lettuce were slightly wet, almost like they had been rinsed recently or sitting in the fridge at too cold a temperature? If you've had this you know what I'm saying. Overall the sandwich was-- hold on let me ask my husband for a quote: "Um... I would say it's mediocre, it was the kind of sandwich your company orders for the luncheon and you've got to pick through the boxes hoping for the best option. There seemed to be hot and cold patches in the turkey and ham of my sandwich." Well said Sean! We also ordered two brownies that are oh so crispy on the top! With a cocoa powder dusting they really are a great ending to a dinner and frankly, the brownie is what I remember most already. Firehouse subs did a fine job, but when so many orders being placed miss a few items like the mushrooms and pickle spears it doesn't feel like special attention is being paid to the delivery items. read more

Don't go here if you want good service. I went in today stood in line ordered left a tip. Sat down and waited. I was there for over 30 minutes waiting for food. I finally have my food come up and she just sets the boxes on the counter doesn't put them in a bag or anything. When I asked for a bag she asked me if I'm okay very rudely and I said well I waited quite a while for my food and you couldn't even give me a bag. And the bag she gives me is too small. I made the comment that they should really work on their Customer service. Because while I was waiting also went to the register to order something additional and nobody ever walked over to ring me up. If you're searching for a sub above... look no further! Firehouse has amazing gourmet sandwiches. It's not the run of the mill sub shop like some of the famous chains. They have specialty hot subs, standard hot subs (think more basic like turkey sub) and also cold subs. They also offer salads if you're into that sort of thing. Ha! Almost every time I've been to Firehouse I've ordered the Hook & Ladder Sub. It has turkey and ham and cheese and all the fixings (which I go without). I always had them hold the mayo, and add honey mustard. It's a damn good sammich! My husband always gets the BBQ beef brisket sub. That one is amazing. The only drawback, it's pricey for lunch. I realize even subway is getting expensive, I just hate spending $10+ on a sub lunch. On the other hand, Firehouse is worth it and I feel much better about dropping $10 here versus Subway; especially because a portion of their proceeds go towards First Responders!! read more

On Sunday, we went to FHS for late lunch. Ordered hot sandwich beef brisket and cheddar and Nashville hot brisket combo. Combo came with soda and chip. I personally like the beef brisket with cheddar more than the other one. Sodas are served in all kinds of flavor Coke products. Very friendly staff. Very clean tables. Red fire truck theme deco. Plastic fireman hat for kids. I joined their reward program afterwards and uploaded receipt to get credit. They didn't mention it during order process. It is a good alternative to Subway. Finally I asked where my order was, it had been ready but not put on the online rack. I asked why and was told because people are stealing it. This place has really good food and most of the staff and the owner are courteous and helpful. Unfortunately, they have a couple of bad apples that make me hesitant to continue eating here. I came in on a day when something went wrong with their equipment that had people waiting for over half an hour for their food. The owner got right in front of it and went around handing out cards for free sandwiches to help make up for the inconvenience. Unfortunately, as I was waiting, I had to watch the manager (I assume she is the manager) take out her frustration on her employees. When my food finally came, I had to rush out to get back to work. Unfortunately, they had made my sandwich incorrectly and left out something I'd paid for. I tried three times to call and finally reached the manager the next day. She said she was busy and she would call me back. That never happened. I finally just went into the store and made my request in person. The guy behind the counter seemed annoyed and after trying to charge me the wrong amount three times threw his hands up in the air and demanded that "someone else come and deal with this guy". Now I was mad so I demanded a refund from the manager who had not called me back which she gave me with no apology or eye contact. I saw the owner and asked to talk to him. To his credit, he apologized and comped my whole lunch. My concern is though that this guy and the unprofessional manager will still be there any time I want to eat there and I don't want my food spit in. At the very least, it will now be uncomfortable to eat there. It's a shame because, as I said, the food is great and the owner seems like a decent guy. I've frequent this place a few times. Knowing that there are 3 sub shops within walking distance of where I live. I go out-of-my way for their meatball sub. Its pretty good...however. I stopped here, went in and stood in line behind a person, who for some reason, couldn't find his way out of a clear plastic bag with both ends opens. Luckily someone opened up another register. I already knew what I wanted, so with cash in hand, I was in and out like a duck mating and sitting in the lobby waiting for my order. The knucklehead in front of me got his order, along with the four others, who ordered BEHIND me. So after playing a few games on my phone and losing miserably, I went to the counter and asked "where was my order"? There where 4 working behind the counter, with 2 roving. One would figure as I was sitting there, to acknowledge me? Like I was sitting there and using their free WiFi and loitering. I was clean shaven when i ordered, mind you. The dirtbag who placed my order didnt forward said order to the making-of- the-sandwich- section. I am a person of very little patience and for all they know, I could've been the store owner. Firehouse, get your chit together. Good thing I now have a full beard after this quagmeyer, cuz its the only thing that will catch the sauce from dripping into my shirt. I've been to other sub houses locally,I've seen these places count the olives, carefully place the green peppers as to NOT get to many, I've listened to the staff get upset if you ask for more lettuce and then to get hit with the price. Quality sub sandwiches! All their sandwiches are made well, and fully customizable. They have a handful of hot sub choices but too many cold sandwiches. Usual sides such as chips, salad, and etc. The pricing seems fair in comparison to many other sandwich franchises. We've eaten here twice, and have been satisfied both times. The service was very friendly and the restaurant was clean. The theme and decor is well done, and thorough. You can't visit and not know that they are founded by firefighters and support firefighters. The prices are pretty good and the subs are a good size with a good amount of toppings. We've enjoyed all of the subs we've gotten here (each time, we've tried something different). I wouldn't say it blew me away, but I have been very happy with our visits here. We got a firehouse cheese steak, a beef & cheddar brisket, and a side of the broccoli cheddar soup. Soup wasn't all that good, tastes frozen. But the subs were yummy!
