I never write reviews but we stopped by this location on 4/19 and it was not a great experience. First, the staff seemed annoyed we came in. We ordered our food, there was no ice in the ice machine and several soda options were unavailable. When my daughter got her sandwich, a small curly black hair was on the top of her sandwich. I showed it to the guy behind the counter and he asked if I wanted them to make a new one, I of course said "yes". When the new sandwich was ready, my daughter got rude looks from the staff when getting it. Neither of our sandwiches tasted fresh, we threw them away and left. A $35 lunch in the garbage, literally like throwing money in the trash can. We won't be back but the hot sauce was good! read more

8-7-24 & 11:30am met my youngest son for lunch here. My Engineer sub was just right and not sloppy. Lots of meat and just the right amount of lettuce. Could have used a few more onions but not think could have asked for extra when I placed my order so no fault there. Lots of good mushrooms! The caliber of the employees is rock bottom. They all look like they are homeless or really scraped up from the street. I was afraid to eat after seeing them handle my food. One was sitting on a barrel scraping his nails with a box cutter. One was coughing and seemed sick. And none of them friendly. Just gross. read more

I ordered through a food delivery service (and it only took them 20 minutes to get here, so you can't blame them) the turkey sub with regular toppings plus cucumbers, green peppers and some oil and vinegar. I got a super soggy thrown together sloppy mess. The meat was shavings mixed in with melted cheese, way too much lettuce, 3 small pieces of peppers, no cucumbers,onion no mustard, mayo and soo much oil and vinegar it ruined the sandwich. I ordered early on Sunday, November 23. Stopped by here yesterday before heading home. Walked inside to place my order instead of placing it online. Once inside, there is a sign to where you place your order. I walked up and spoke to the young lady taking orders. She says nothing, smh! I proceed to place my order and I wait. After about 5 minutes of waiting, my name was called. I grabbed my food and left. My sandwich looked good! I prayed and chowed down. The Engineer is my go to. Always delicious! This is now my closest location. I'm not out this way a whole lot, but I decided to stop since I was. Service was great!! It's a new store with new employees learning on the job and I can say they are definitely putting in an honest effort. With that said the food was right on and the atmosphere is great. They made sure to check if everything was to our liking. What we had an issue with was an actual customer just being ignorant and ridiculous with their "demands". Come on, its a new store with honest, good working employees literally trying to do their best. Gosh some customers need a dose of reality and maybe everyone needs to work in a customer service role so they too can feel the pressures of dealing with the ridiculous public... Despite all the negative reviews from a year ago I decided to walk from hotel to get two sub. I order online and walked over, food was ready grab sat outside and ate. Food Was made correctly and restaurant was clean. Staff could be a little more tentative to customers walking in but nothing unusual for new generation of kids. read more

Ordered 20 minutes ahead and sat inside another 35 for the food. People in line after us got their food and left before we did.

So not good!! We were traveling home from Georgia and had attempted to try a small Mediterranean place. Unfortunately it was closed. Needing to eat before returning to the road we settled for Firehouse Subs. Both of us ordered a tuna grinder. I asked for no additional Mayo and the addition of lettuce, tomato and onion, and my daughter asked for cucumbers. What we received could only be described as mayonnaise sandwiches. It was spread thick and dripping off the subs. No onion, no cucumber. I used about 25 napkins to attempt to blot the Mayo off. I finally removed most of the saturated bread and at the blotted filling. It was the worst waste of money alive ever spent. Do yourself a favor and try that Mediterranean place next door if they're open. read more

Place was filthy. My wife and I were quite surprised, being that food businesses are trying so hard to woo customers back in with all of the advertisements about the high levels of sanitation and safety. B.S.! Not here! Maybe we just caught them on a bad day. I mean it was a Friday afternoon and all. Maybe that's a bad time for them. Drink area was filthy; tables hadn't been wiped in a long time, floor was filthy... I didn't have to use the restroom but I imagine that was filthy as well. Place made us fearful that we might have montezuma's revenge later. Place is scary. My wife and I might venture out to this place again after the Covid 19 stuff dies down. Just when you thought "You can't mess up a sub"... This location has managed to do just that. I don't know who trained them but it was done incorrectly. I received my hot sub and the bread was cold, the lettuce was cold and the meat was hot. WRONG! Everytime I have gotten a sandwich from any Firehouse the entire sandwich has been hot. The customer service was awful. My order was incorrect and they seemed to be upset with me because they messed it up. I politely asked the guys behind the counter for sauce. No one ever made eye contact with me or acknowledged me. One guy puts the sauce in a bowl and SLID it down the counter toward me!! I found that to be very rude and unprofessional. We just see stopped here on our way to IOP. I ordered through the Grubhub app on yelp and when I arrived, they hadn't checked the app. I had to wait, but not long and was offered a drink for the inconvenience. The meatball sub from here is top notch and my husband really enjoyed the Italian. Place was new and very clean. Staff was wearing masks and tables were distanced inside (space is large). They also have picnic tables outside. Would recommend as a good place to stop for a meal between the Charlotte area and IOP. read more

Watched an old lady wait for 5 minutes, maybe two other people waiting for their orders, and no one spoke to her or acknowledged she was there so she walked out. They didn't notice that either. My pick up orders are never ready when I arrive. New management maybe? I'm not sure but poor customer service. read more

Today I visited your store at 1516 Ellie Drive suite 104 Columbia, SC for take out. I have been dying for an Italian sub fully involved since you closed your store on Hardscrabble Road. I was glad to see this store open for business and ventured in with my mask on to place an order. Although we have a city ordinance mandating mask wearing, one of your employees was preparing subs with no mask on. When I inquired about why she wasn't wearing a mask I was told that the employees are supposed to wear a mask but she chose not to wear one. I asked another employee who was properly masked to make my subs. I'm sure you've heard that South Carolina has 1600 positive cases of COVID today. We are now a hot spot. The City of Columbia has been mandated to wear masks in businesses. Why your employee doesn't believe a city ordinance applies to her is beyond my understanding especially since she is preparing food. Also as an aside, she did not have on a cap, hair net or any other head covering while preparing subs. I won't be eating at Firehouse if you guys can't take COVID 19 seriously. read more
