Review Highlights - Firehouse Subs

I have to say, the Hook and Ladder Sub didn't disappoint, the ham was sweet and cooked to perfection and the turkey was very tender and moist.

Krakus Polish Deli & Bakery - Puds 7-31-25

Delicious food and the staff was very friendly. I will go back when I'm back in town.read more

Imagine a magical land where the smell of pierogies wafts through the air like a warm hug from your…read morePolish grandmother. Now, stop imagining, because Krakus Polish Deli & Market in Boardman, Ohio, is that magical land, and it is the holy grail of pierogies, kielbasa, and all things Polish food-related. If you haven't been yet, your taste buds are straight-up missing out. First of all, let's talk pierogies, these little pockets of heaven are to die for. Like, not even exaggerating. I tried the classic cheese and potato ones, and I'm pretty sure I saw a light flash before my eyes. Jesus, Mary, and Joseph, these pierogies are so good they should be illegal. But wait--there's more! They do weekly pierogi specials, and trust me, each week is a new flavor adventure you won't want to miss. The cabbage roll; Heavenly. The sausages... Let me tell you, if there's a better kielbasa on the planet, I don't know it. The market is like a treasure chest of authentic Polish foods, we're talking everything my Polish grandfather used to keep stashed around the house, like sauerkraut pickle jars (which I'm 100% sure he got directly from the motherland), obscure teas, crunchy wafers, and probably some mysterious cured meats you didn't even know you needed in your life. And then there's the prices. I don't know how they're doing it, but you could feed an entire village of hungry Babcias (grandmas) on a budget here. Incredible value, folks. But--here's the catch--the hours are... um, "quirky." Like, if you're planning to roll up for a late-night pierogi binge, you might want to double-check their hours because they close early. It's kind of like they really want you to enjoy the pierogies, but on their schedule. So, don't be that guy who rolls in at 7:15 pm and finds the door locked. Trust me, I've been that guy. So, check the hours, make sure you're ready to dive headfirst into some of the best Polish food you'll ever eat, and prepare to have your mind--and stomach--blown. Krakus is like stepping into your Polish grandma's kitchen, if your grandma was a magical food wizard who had a secret stash of pierogies she didn't share with anyone. GO HERE. Seriously. If I could give this place 6 stars, I would.

Forty Six Deli - Sliced steak sandwich

Forty Six Deli

OK, nest batter up in this location (previous tenant was "Knoodle Hut", which I panned in a prior…read morereview, and not surprisingly it closed it's doors not long after). But Forty Six Deli is in the batters box, it's a stones throw from me, so....we gave it a whirl. Now, first things first, as I was scratching my head, and allow me to digress. If you're moniker is a "deli", shouldn't ya have like a Rueben......some corned beef...deli-typical soups of the day..even a dang big jar with some deli-esque pickles in it? Nada. But no matter, the menu was still expansive enough to satisfy most. I ordered the Sliced Steak Hot Sub, hoping to get something like The Sandwich Factory's offering in Austintown (free plug here, they KILL a steak sandwich there, OMG) and the wife had a grilled chicken salad opting for the fries on the side (fries IN the salad always seems to defy laws of nature in both our opinions). So.....sandwich was solid- meat was tender, lean and flavorful- no chance weird mouthful of gristly fat moments having you look for a napkin. Doesnt nab the gold from Sandwich Factory, but OK. One recommendation? ease up on the bread. a very BIG, very SOFT bun which was 'bout a 2-1 ratio to meat, mebbe more. I told the wife "take a bite" and she was like "sweet lord, thats a ****load of bread!!" Hollow it out, toast it with a tad of butter. Just a peanut gallery suggestion. Her salad was "ok", chicken was good, but salad overall was again...."ok". Look at the included pic. Salad looks like it's missing makeup and a nice dress, if you will. (The fries on the side were ala "fair fries", if thats your thing- good and greasy. Yummy) and thats my takeaway, as I summarize...."OK". Not a home run, but my experience wasn't one that would be "damn, I'm coming back next week!!". I may try a sandwich or two at a later date, but I'd not recommend it as a "Must try" were someone to ask Your mileage may vary :-)

Food was decent, pretzel bites were great, but WARNING:…read more they use a register that can send you receipts via text. One day after I put my phone number in their tablet register, I have been receiving DAILY texts to my phone with malicious links and clear spam. The pretzel bites were fantastic, but the sub had a very high bread-to-fillings ratio. Sub roll was just too big compared to what was in it, but everything was fresh.
