The sandwiches are all made fresh and they are plentiful. To eat an entire sammi you have to have a hearty appetite. I actually think two people can share one sandwich, but get a bag of chips for each of you. The staff if friendly and you know the kitchen is clean, because you can see it and see them making your food. If you love a good deli sandwich, Sammis is where you need to go.

Just yesterday I got in on their sale of Snow crab legs and my family had a great feast! Their customer service is wonderful and they are so nice every time I come in. Oh I also want to mention their house made sausages. Unbelievably good brats. I particularly like the cherry brats, the cranberry horseradish brats, and the Italian sausage. WONDROUS! So if you live in Alton please utilize this little treasure. It's family owned and it shows in how they treat the customer!

The customer service is what you'd expect from a small town market, personalized and friendly. They offer monthly meat bundles that are budget friendly. Their brats will put, Johnsonville Brats to shame and Jimmy Dean's sausage cannot hold a candle to their sausage. Proof that buying local is a good thing. Some of their brands are generic, but with today's economy that is a good thing. There are lots of single little coolers around the store, filled with perishable products. Take note of the prepared foods near the butcher counter. You'll find some delicious side dishes for those tasty brats. Another end-cap to check out, is their branded spices. They're just as good as those expensive name brand spices. If you haven't shopped the aisles of Schwegel's, I recommend you correct that ASAP. You just might become a frequent shopper.

Apparently not…read more After patiently waiting in line, I confidently ordered a chicken wrap... only to be told, "That's not on the menu." Pause. Confusion. Mild heartbreak. BUT then--plot twist. He leans in and says, "I can put one together for you... just trust me." And listen... that was the moment I decided to surrender control and embark on a culinary adventure. As he started listing what he had in mind, my skepticism quickly turned into straight-up anticipation. It already sounded incredible--but I HAD to chime in and add tomatoes and banana peppers (because balance, obviously). What I received for $13 was not just a wrap. It was a masterpiece. This thing was PACKED--like, no-such-thing-as-skimping levels of juicy, flavorful chicken. Every bite hit. Every ingredient showed up. No fillers, no regrets. Here's the real kicker: I ate half yesterday... and the other half today? Still. Fresh. Still. Delicious. Still. Worth it. We were a fairly big group and they worked their way through our orders efficiently as well as the other customers. They gave the kind of service I like when I eat out. I asked them what the best item on the menu was they asked me a couple questions, gave me a recommendation. (the Italian stallion.) and asked me some follow up questions about condiments, they answered a few more questions and they delivered! When I was looking at sides to have with it, he told me the sandwich was " hefty". He was he was right. A lot of times when I'm out for a quick bite I might swing by a Jimmy John's or a subway just to get a quick sandwich, but this was an example of why it's always best to go local. While we were in the ordering process, the guy who looked like the butcher and was also the owner came over to check and make sure we were getting our needs met. He was very busy, but he even made it outside once we all were served to check on things and thank us for coming by. I had a chance to look around and noticed the full valley of barbecue fried chicken and all their sides. I went over and looked at the meat counter in the steaks and other items looked fantastic. Not what you find at the grocery store. As someone who worked in the food service industry in high school and college, my standards for good service are relatively high. We had our Father's Day celebration today and I just wanted something simple that no one had to fuss over, to feed adults and children. I asked Jerry if I could order the basics (not on their catering menu), hamburgers, hot dogs, baked beans, cole slaw, potato salad, and buns and garnishes. I also had to get their chicken salad that everyone raved about! Jerry and his team were VERY accommodating. Everything was wonderful, and packed perfectly so that we could keep the warm things warm in the oven and refrigerate the rest while we enjoyed an afternoon by the pool. The attention to detail was excellent, not only was the food very transportable it was arranged so nicely! Most importantly? Everything tasted great! I don't know if the burgers are half pound or 1/3 pound, but they were cooked perfectly and had that special dry rub that Paul's uses. Hot dogs were massive and so tasty. Everything was great! Everyone was raving about how good the food was. Thank you, Paul's and Jerry, for making this a wonderful Father's Day for my husband and sons!
