    Meatball Sub & Cheesesteak Sub
    Erin G.

Meatball sub always hits. Philly cheesesteak was okay, needed to add hot peppers but always get the meatball. Plus they give first responders free drinks so it's great. The place is always clean and the staff are great at always greeting you!

One of our fave sub spots, we make the drive out from Scarborough to Ajax just for this! They heat the sandwiches in a steamer which may sound weird, but it makes the bread super soft and warm. It's a unique alternative to toasting. 1) the engineer is a turkey sandwich with sautéed mushrooms, onions, lettuce, mayo and deli mustard. 2) the Italian comes with all your fave Italian meats. All sandwiches come with a dill pickle on the aide and they are STUFFED with meat! Off to the side of the counter is a hot sauce bar with ~30 sauces you can spice your sub up with. The staff is super friendly, they bring the subs to your table. Of note - they always ask if you'd like to round your $ amount up to donate to local fire services, and they do a fair bit of community charity work which is nice to see. We are regulars!!

Tried them for the first time and loved their Pastrami sub. I've been turned off from subs after how dismal they are from Mr. Sub and Subway so it's refreshing to have a place that can serve a good hot tasty sub. I'll definitely be back and would recommend to others.

Had the privilege to enjoy the well crafted sandwiches that are very generous with the meat compared to the others we all love to hate. The sandwich was top notch and service is definitely much more friendly than many other similar shops. They also have a coke freestyle machine to mix up your hydration selection

Variety of hot sauces for your eating pleasure!

A convenient location in the Ajax Costco plaza to grab a quick bite. Their sub is decent. More like Quiznos with a little extra. I like the selection of hot sauces (20+ varieties) and the mock firehouse decor is cute. With an average sub costing over $12 - $15, it's not the most economical option.

wow, I didn't think a sub place could do so poorly. I've been wanting to try firehouse for awhile and regret it. I ordered a custom sandwich with chicken and bacon and provolone. My sister ordered one of their feature sandwiches. Mine tasted a little off but I couldn't figure out what it was, I didn't enjoy it at all. There was zero flavour. The chicken was a bit pink or seemed pink and the bread was soggy. My sisters tasted better but I'm sad to say that it is not worth it. About an hour after we finished we both started to feel uncomfortable and nauseous, and the constant need for the bathroom. I've taken 2 gravols and still feel very very queasy. It could be a one time thing but I definitely will not be coming back. A side note; the people that worked there were pretty friendly! Keep Eating, Angela

Turkey Bacon Ranch on Whole Wheat bread. Soo good.

Delicious and fully loaded subs! I ordered the Turkey Bacon Ranch and my partner ordered the Steak & Cheese. We wanted to try each other's subs so we split them and I got to try half of each. Let me tell you - I couldn't choose a favourite. The Turkey Bacon Ranch was piled high with delicious turkey. It's true that this is a more expensive sub shop than others, but other sub shops don't give you near as much meat so the cost here is justified. The Steak & Cheese was tender and included green peppers and sautéed white onion. SO GOOD. I can't speak highly enough about the quality of meat at Firehouse. The ingredients they use are the freshest and the flavours are superb. Staff were friendly, service was quick and the restaurant was clean. This was my first visit and definitely will not be my last. This is my new favourite sub place.

Ryan is the founder of the business, which he runs with family and friends. We got to meet Riott, his son, who had a love for skulls and all Halloween decorations at this eatery. This place specializes in sandwiches. Many of their meats are slow-cooked for ten hours. Sauces, soups, and slaw are homemade. We ordered many items off the menu and had what we liked: - Jalapeno and house slaws - Chickpea and ham soup - Roasted garlic and tomato soup - The Brooklyn (Italian) - Hot corned beef - Montreal smoked meat - Slicey's chopped chicken - Chicken club wrap I started with the hot corned beef sandwich. The corned beef was generous and so flavourful. The rye bread held all that tender corned beef together, along with the best grainy mustard aioli. I am a soup girl. I enjoyed the roasted garlic and tomato soup. It had the perfect amount of garlic with tomatoes, along with onions and spices. It was a comforting, smooth soup. The chickpea and ham soup was excellent. It had nice cubes of ham with chickpeas. It was so hearty and delicious. I also love slaw. The jalapeno and house slaws were crunchy. The former was creamy with a touch of heat. The latter was vinegar-based. You get the best of both slaw dressing worlds! I then had the Montreal smoked meat. It was full of the most tender smoked meat on rye bread with mustard. So good! I'm not sure how I managed to down Slicey's chopped chicken sandwich. It was so good that I did! It had slow-cooked chicken that was chopped with tomato, and red onion. It included the jalapeno slaw, along with white cheddar. It was messy to eat, but so worth it. The flavours were outstanding. This business supports other local businesses. The bread comes from a local bakery. It also features Purple Tongue hot sauces. Staff are super friendly and kind. They can craft a sandwich to your liking if you go with The Riott. There were two separate washroom stalls. I used one of them before I left this eatery. It was clean. No complaints. It's a comfortable place to hang out with friends over good food and drinks. I ended up having a Diet Coke and Crush cream soda during the two hours that we were here. They were cold and refreshing. It's street parking for three hours. It's free, which is nice. Alternatively, there is a parking lot across from this eatery. I look forward to returning for more good eats and soup. It's a gem of a sandwich place that happens to have awesome soups and slaw. (391)

The husband and wife team were working away behind the counter and young Ryan was spending time with his family and his toys; Genuine wholesome service. I spoke with the owners and they shared that they always enjoyed supporting local sandwich shops, but after their favorites closed they decided to open their own. I love that . Bread is fresh daily from a local bakery. Depeding on the day they can sell out of items but that just speaks to popularity and freshness. We ordered a bunch of different items and split them all. Sandwiches are loaded with bright, fresh toppings. I also LOVE that they support local and even have my FAVORITE hotsauce in store. Purple tongue. I highly recommend adding the cilantro lime to any sandwich. It compliments them so well. The Brooklyn (Italian) Hot Corned Beef Montreal Smoked Meat Slicey's Chopped Chicken Chicken Club Wrap Jalapeno & House Slaw Chickpea and Ham Soup Megan's Roasted Garlic Tomato Soup The Italian was definitely a favorite and the Slicey's Chopped Chicken was so incredibly tender. The tomato soup was quite flavorful and another fan favorite for our group. There's lots to see in this area, so we even went for a stroll after our amazing luncheon .

And that has to stay. There are traditional flavours like cheesecake, but then you also got a Ceylon Ginger Biscuit all on display just being so enticing. The New York Cheesecake was OK. It didn't really taste like the cake, but I still enjoyed whatever the taste was. The toppings that they put on top was good. It was like some crunchy crumble. Overall, I'd come back and try out the other flavours. Looking on their website, they have so many other flavours which weren't available at the time. One thing I would have liked to see was some outdoor seating or something. I had to stand outside the shop to eat my gelato.
