We have eaten here many times. The food is pretty good though sometimes cold. After this evening, however, we will get our brisket in downtown Oceanside. We arrived at Firehouse 18 minutes before their posted closing time, but the door was locked, and the 'closed' signs were out. This was 7:12 on a Wednesday night. Very disappointed. read more

Great meat off the hook and great sauces! My husband and I ordered a pull pork sandwich with Mac and cheese, and a tri tips sandwich with fries. I enjoyed the bread. It was sweet and soft, brought out the taste of the meat well. I expected the pull pork to be more marinated, but sauce was awesome and balanced out well. Fries were freshly cooked with spices with some kicks. The restroom was not so clean. Overall, great food and wonderful customer service. read more

Service gets worse everytime .. girl at register too distracted watching TikTok's and can't press a button to get the order correct then has my to-go order sitting for 10minutes.. didn't have the decency to call my name or walk the order up to me as I'm sitting, waiting inside the restaurant... then my order is wrong. I like to pop in for a beer or two at the Firehouse once in a blue moon. Malissa is always there to serve me and I look forward to seeing and chatting with her. Guy brought out a tray with the "sampler" all meat was ICE cold, we sent it back, & he came back in less than a minute with another tray also ice cold. Tells us the food is the proper temp. I feel a hot meal, should come out of the kitchen, piping hot, & stay at least warm during my meal. He didn't really want us to challange our opinion about the food being cold. He believed it was hot, didn't want to hear it from us, that it was not hot. Any how, tasted ok, would have been much better if it was the proper temperature. read more

I hate it when some Yahoo's say we don't know BBQ just because we are in California. We've only been to the Ribshack on 395, owned by the same people. I have more side dishes here, the spicy creamed corn was amazing and so were the garlic potatoes! I also really liked that there was a little bar serving beers inside the restaurant. Super nice staff, we will go back! read more

I am a firm believer in the central limit theorem, that is why I struggle with Yelp reviews. I want to have more three star reviews than fives or fours, right? But what do you do when the places you visit are spot on? Firehouse Que and Brew helps defeat the central limit theorem, we arrived and the place was dead, one other party on a Saturday. The guy at the counter provided very friendly customer service, made recommendations and then said we could take our time looking over the menu prior to placing our order. Additionally, because of my lame haircut he asked if I was military...and gave me a discount (10 percent off for military). Always nice when the restaurant asks vice me having to ask! On customer service, they earn stars, everyone was extremely friendly at the restaurant. For food, we started with fried pickles, wonderful. The batter was flavorful and so was the salty goodness of the pickle. We ordered chicken and brisket entrees. Both were very tasty and cooked pretty much near perfect. No sauce as they cook, they want you taste the seasoning of the meat and BBQ. The sauces are excellent both enhanced the natural flavors. The sides that came with the entrees were good, cowboy beans, fried okra, slaw and garlic mash. Prices were not bad either. By the time we left all of the tables were full. So good and their brisket is moist and fatty. The ribeye was cooked and seasoned perfectly. Their bread pudding is also so delicious! The young girl at the register was very vocal to the 10 ppl in line that they were supposed to get off at 730pm place closing earlier becuz it was dead all day. After speaking with the GM and found out that The brisket and pulled pork smoke for 16-20 hours and the meats are still tender and juicy. This place knows what they are doing. My family and I have been here twice and each time the service has been great. The staff seem like they love their job, you're greeted upon when walking in, and they always have a smile. We came on Wednesday night and it wasn't that packed. The food was amazing and my favorite was the prime rib. It was moist and flavorful and came with horseradish and that beef juice. I chose the mash potatoes and the creamed corn which were also delicious and the creamed corn had a nice kick to it. My husband ordered the tri tip and our kids had the chicken tender kids meal which was free per entree. They do offer military discount, but you must show ID. This is the second time we have been to this restaurant as we are new to the area and moved in the middle of the pandemic so don't go out much. But the first time left such a great impression that my husband actually wrote to me this afternoon and said,"Honey, if you don't feel like cooking I'd be up for bbq." Hint taken. Again, we were very happy with everything about this little gem of a bbq place. The meats are very fresh and the side dishes are delicious. You order at the counter and they deliver everything on metal trays - classic bbq style. They also have a bar with good wines and draft beers - a good selection of both. Most importantly, the employees here are welcoming and friendly. They were very attentive and interested in how we felt about the quality of our meal. The atmosphere is casual and comfortable.
