I had known about Fireflys for several years but somehow had never managed to actually GET there!! Finally, on the evening of March 15,2015 ,after my daughters' baton competition, we made it !! There were 6 of us in our party and everyone thoroughly enjoyed their dinners. The cucumber salad was really good ,a very new thing to try. My future son-in-law was born in Louisiana, and he declared it was the best BBQ he had ever had. Our server was very knowledgeable, friendly and efficient. As fellow servers, both my daughter and I were impressed with her manner. I finally made my way to Firefly's for and evening of BBQ. Why did it take me so long to go there is what I keep asking myself. This place is beyond great. I can't do it justice but I'll try. The wait staff was incredible our server knew everything about the food, she had a personality that was perfect for a real BBQ place. Sweet and spicy. The owner Steve stopped by our table more than once to see how our experience was and he has a great personality as well. The food was beyond Great. The brisket was so delicious and tender you can leave your teeth at home for this. The St. Louis ribs were so good and I had the Beef Ribs OMG so good I can't wait to go back. Drinks were also great, Voodo juice is a winner. We had appetizers too, chili mac and cheese, jumbo wings, burnt ends and glazed bacon. I needed a wheel chair to get out after dinner, lol. But instead we waddled into Dante's the attached night club for a Fools show, they were as good as ever. What a great night. When the cravings come this is the best place in Metrowest to get barbecue. Extensive menu and the baby back ribs fall off the bone. Small condiment bar with peppers and pickles. There are hot sauces available of all varieties but they are always empty or close. This should be rectified. Most of the waitresses can be a bit brash/annoying, but Jimmy was an awesome waiter who really went above and beyond and made the evening. He made the difference between 3 and 4 stars! read more

This place has gone downhill. My family has been going for years, and we love many things on the menu, but everything served to us for dinner yesterday was mediocre. I got the two meat combo- the ribs were tasty, but the sweet potato pudding (usually my favorite) was dry and flavorless, the coleslaw was bland, and the fried chicken was also dry and bland. My husband's salmon didn't have its usual flavor, and his caesar salad was soggy and limp. My son's grilled cheese was soggy. Even my sweet tea was lukewarm and not sweet enough. I'm giving it 3 stars because it may have just been a bad night. Also, we like the pool room and live music at Dante's, which is a plus...we will certainly be back to hear a band, but probably not for the food. read more

First time here after I received a gift card from my wedding. I was so excited because of all the yelp reviews. Unfortunately my husband and I didn't enjoy it. We ordered the nachos to start off and the fire fly chicken. Fire fly chicken was good but burnt. I had to peel the skin to eat the chicken. Nachos- maybe I was the last person to order for the night but there was barely any cheese and tomatoes. It was endless amount of chips with a scoop of meat. Me and my husband was literally scraping the dish for cheese and anything to go with the chips. And I love nachos!!! My Husband ordered a margarita and it was with the jalapeño and hated it -everyone taste is different. Our waitress was very sweet but not attentive. Overall by the time we wanted to order main dishes we were so disappointed with the drink and appetizers that we left still hungry and our table still full of drinks and food. I don't like to complain so I paid for my food and gave the girl a 40% tip. I only write reviews to share my experiences. read more

I do not understand the big deal with Fireflies. I'd use the quality over quantity argument. The food is ok, but not out-of-this-world good. I ordered a combo meal with 4 baby back ribs with a sauce the waitress suggested with cornbread, kale and mac and cheese for sides: Lot 'o food! The condiment bar was refreshing: it included pickles, pickled veggies, banana jalapenos. Although I was leery about the hot sauce shelf where one has to sign a waiver form to taste a sauce. I probably will not return... unless there is some form of taste "overhaul." read more

This place has fallen considerably in my opinion. To begin the quality has plummeted, food drenched in sauce or over powered by smoke that you could be eating a cow pie and not even know it. Quality is a problem in the New England region as no one here seems to know what good food is suppose to taste like. If its not deep fried or smothered in tartar sauce or made from ingredients out of a can their expressions go all blank because their taste buds cant identify what they are eating. They use to have a number of locations and a tasty lunch buffet but that has all gone because people have either developed taste or found more convenient troughs to stick their snouts in, my guess is the latter. The fact that they have closed locations and are no longer open for lunch during the week is proof their business has fallen off regardless what the "faux/fake" reviews say. Come on, make a reservation, you have got to be kidding, I would rather make a reservation for a colonoscopy than dine here. Speaking of colonoscopy the last and final time I ate here I spent an afternoon in the bathroom, I thought an alien was trying to make its way through my digestive tract. Down the street from this location are a number of Brazilian restaurants which are excellent for anyone who considers themselves a true carnivore or a Chinese buffet which is not bad and a far cry better than the Fly. read more

Its literally been a billion years since I had fried chicken this good. The main thing is that the meat was moist and the outside crust was crispy. Thats all you have to do if you want to be perfect chicken. Fireflys is actually a great place. My mother told me it once used to be a chinese food restaurant believe it or not. When I walked into the door I physically felt like I was really in the southern regions of the united states. I have never seen so many hot sources!!! Some of them were mild but some were so hot. I tried one on a baby corn and it burnt my lips. Glad I had milk. I did like those sweet pickles though. They tasted like halloween candy. For my man meal I got the fried chicken dinner. You can get honey sauce or white sauce for topping. I choose white and it was pretty delicious. For my side I made a big mistake. I got colored greens and steamed rice. I probably should have got the mac and cheese or sweet potato pudding. That actually sounded way better. My belly was so full when I left because they give you a lot of heavy food. The waitress was really awesome to. I actually dreamed about her that night because she was so nice to me. I will come many times in the future! read more

Went out for BBQ last night and the only single word I could explain our entire experience there is AWESOME!!! From the staff meeting us and the owner Steve greeting us before we even sat down gave a friendly, warm, and exciting welcome before we even sat down. Our server Liz was super friendly and extremely helpful in pointing us into the right food combo that we were looking in a party of 5. The St. Louis ribs were definitely a must have. The pork was tender with a little give and fell off the bone. The BBQ sauces were extensive. Memphis was a favorite and all others were good with a different kind of flare. Reservations on weekend nights highly recommended. An extremely long line just waiting to get to the awesome BBQ was out the door on a cold rainy Friday night. Can't wait to go back again. this review is for catering only... i had wanted to go to firefly for a while, but i never find myself in that area. we had an event for about 80 people, and they wanted bbq. everything went great, they delivered and setup the food perfectly. by far my favorite food items were the cornbread and the mac and cheese, but also the pulled pork and beef brisket and ribs were great. we would definitley order from them again! read more

I've been to Firefly's probably a dozen times, but haven't taken the time to review until today. Between my husband and I, we have tried quite a few items on the menu and everything has been delicious. We have never had a bad meal here. Not only are the traditional BBQ items fantastic (pulled pork, ribs, brisket etc) but the menu includes plenty of non-BBQ fair as well so you are bound to find something you'll like. The menu is overwhelming in a good way with so many options it's tough to choose. I had a trio of southern tacos last night with pulled pork, steak and jerk chicken and I'm not exaggerating, they were the best tacos I've ever had. The Thanksgiving platter with roasted turkey is also a fave as are the steak tips. I also love the sides-sweet potato casserole, homemade mac and cheese, jalapeño corn bread, yum! I can never decide! I also love that they give you popcorn and cucumber salad to pick on when you sit down, a nice touch and something a bit different than your standard bread basket. They also have a bar of cold salads that you can help yourself to as well. Again, a bit different and a nice touch. Drink menu is also unique and varied so plenty to choose from. My wildly handsome man friend and I went on date night to the Firefly. It was both our first trip to the venue and let me tell you, you did not disappoint! The atmosphere was easily the most relaxing environment, after a long day, need I ask for more!? Apparently you heard my prayers and had the most delightful service that I've had in all my time. Not only was our waitress, Julianna, warming, helpful and had a vast knowledge of the menu, she had fantastic banter to help guide us through the menu and our more than average experience. She was heartwarming and gave us space when we needed it but was more than willing to add to the flare when least expected. She had us laughing and smiling and giving us the full satisfaction that we were looking for. Five stars all around we were just so sad that we couldn't grab a SWAT tee because it seems like something that Tom Brady would acquire and I want to be part of that lifestyle. read more

Get your wallet out and make sure you've got some dough to cover your loss here - it's pricey. That said, it can be very good. I've had a few experiences here that range from decent to blah. The Marlborough Fireflies is the one to hit up - stay away from the one in the HAM, it's an old Applebees and still feels (and tastes) like it. There's a LOT of great write up's about this place, but it's really not all that it's cracked up to be. My parents wanted to take me out for my birthday, and I didn't want to go to the same old place, so we hit up Firefly's. We had their BBQ at the Bolton Fair this summer, and it was pretty darn good for Fair food. The restaurant experience did not disappoint. First off, the place is nothing fancy. It's loud and the decor is hokey, but whatever, it's a BBQ joint. It was hopping on a Saturday night, but the guy at the front door was really on top of things and tables were turned quickly. Our waiter was friendly and attentive, our food came out quickly, and boy was it good. My 2 year old loved the mac n cheese kids meal (she a Kraft snob, but this one met her discerning standards), but the real star here was the BBQ. My pulled chicken was amazing (I added some spicy Memphis sauce to it... yum!!). My parents and husband enjoyed their meals as well, tons of food for a reasonable price. My husband and I love Bbq joints and seek them out everywhere we travel. To us the key to a great bbq experience is not only perfectly smoked, tender and juicy meats but also quality, authentic, decadently delicious sides and condiments to enhance and a variety of sauces to satisfy every taste and mood. Fireflies delivers on all counts! Their baked beans are homemade and perfectly prepared with a balance of smokey pork and tangy sauce. The collard greens are addictive, as is the delicious Mac and cheese and the sweet potato pecan pudding is to die for! I could go on and on- all of their sides that we have tried have been delicious! I especially like their cole slaw because I like it on my bbq and their's is really tasty! We always start out with their hot and crispy sweet onion straws! The best ever! They also have a nice "condiment bar" with a variety of additions such as bean salad, a variety of pickles and pickled veggies, Vidalia onions, beets, olives etc. We have had their brisket, ribs, chicken and sandwiches and all are mouth watering yummy! We have lived in the Boston area for many years and have tried the other popular bbq places many times for variety and when hungry and we happen to be in their vicinity. We always end up saying, "well, that was pretty good, but not as good as Fireflies. Let's go there soon!" (Because now we are in the mood for really great bbq!) The service is great- fast, efficient, friendly, and great about checking in and being available. So, when our goal is to go to the best bbq restaurant in the Boston area we always head to Fireflies! We went to Firefly's in Marlborough, Mass for dinner. We started out by ordering a "Horny Rita" (which is now our favorite drink). The Horny Rita has jalapeno and cucumber and a well balanced drink not like the watered down version most places serve. We had a conversation with a man who asked how our drinks were and we found out he was the owner "Steve".The menu has something for everyone! The apps we ordered were "Crazy Roo's wings", Southern pork mac and cheese" and a shrimp and garlic pizza. All were outstanding and at a very reasonable price. We asked "Steve" about the Seafood on the menu and he explained it comes fresh from Boston every Tuesday and Friday. We questioned seafood at a BBQ place but after trying their crab cake... Bam! It was the best crab cake we ever had and all three at our table agreed.Our son who frequents Maryland said Firefly's crab cakes beat the Maryland crab cake hands down! This is the most relaxed family friendly place around and all the employees make you feel right at home..Firefly's has a taste for everyone! A true gem that we will return to over and over again. I'm not sure if Firefly's changed their chef or what but I had the worst baby back ribs of my life there today. I got them for take out and they were extremely dry and so tough you couldn't even get them off the bone. It seems as if they put them in a microwave. They were just inedible. In addition, the mashed sweet potatoes were waaaaay too sweet and the pita that came with my fiance's salad was waaaay too salty. It's a shame because we used to really like this place. read more

My friend and I went to Firefly's on a Friday night. I'd never heard of it, but I knew one of the guys in the band playing at Dante's. As suggested, I made a reservation for 2. We arrived on time, and was treated to a table for two about the size of a greeting card. Of course there were bigger, better positioned empty tables just yawning for patrons, but the waitress informed me they were taken. She was right- they were taken by other parties of two who arrived later. Quelling my unfortunate tendency to be an angry idiot, we settled in. I ordered the fried chicken. I really liked it. The food came out quick. In fact, almost a little TOO quick, like it was sitting around waiting to be ordered. The sides were a little shaky, and my buddy's ribs were embarassingly mediocre if you call yourself a BBQ place. I did enjoy the pool tables though. Excellent cues and good smooth table. Free, too. Our waitress was extremely attentive, except at the end, when we wanted to go and she kept us waiting forever. So I am going with 3 stars. I've been coming here for a number of years and have never been disappointed. This restaurant provides what is by definition comfort food. I've always left feeling better having indulged in a place of BBQ ribs or chicken with some delicious sides they offer. It's a place to spend time with friends and enjoy a meal without worrying about calories or fat content. The serves are friendly and welcoming. The prices seem reasonable. I'm definitely a fan and hope for some bad days in the coming weeks so I can lament over a big plate of BBQ! Keep up the good work! read more

Food was a little overcooked today but I heard that is not the norm. They are looking for help in the kitchen so maybe thats why food was off today. We love this restaurant. It is consistently delicious. They are amazing at handling crowds. Last week we flew in with a small group including a toddler who is a "spirited". Madeline, our waitress, got us all fed, including the toddler, before the meltdown! She was amazing and as always, the food fantastic.
