LOVE this place! My husband and I came here for our anniversary this year and had an awesome time just the 2 of us. We tried fried pickles for the 1st time and had some awesome BBQ. We showed up w/ a $100 bill given to us as a gift and left with a good deal of change after 2 meals, an appetizer, 2 alcoholic beverages and 2 soft drinks. Since then I have been back a few times. We bring friends from out of town as well as had a "triple date" with our son, some friends and their little girl. They have an amazing menu and a decent kids menu as well. We always leave full with plenty of left overs. My husband's fave part was the BBQ sauce bar. They have various different sauces for you to try or add to your meal, so you can actually taste the sauce that you're going to get instead of hearing vague descriptions (it has a smoky flavor...). We will be back time and time again! read more

Recently had my daughters surprise 16th birthday. The food/buffet was fantastic. Everyone complimented on how delicious it was. The staff was phenomenal and Amy in charge of functions was great. Couldn't have a better experience. Crystal read more

My husband and I just moved to the area and we came across Firefly's. I looked up their instagram page to see what kind of food is served. What stood out to me was not only the delicious food but a video of the restaurant owner speaking to his staff on Mother's Day. What was mentioned in the video reminded me of the values that we grew up with, values that center around excellent customer service and hospitality. That is exactly what we experienced. We introduced ourselves to the owner, and our interaction did not fall short of what was stated in the video. He treated us like family even though we just met and the food was absolutely delicious. The ribs and Mac n Cheese are a must try. Thank you for your hospitality and we will be back very soon! read more

I'll just say this. I'm an Okie and lived in Massachusetts for a year and a half for work. When I originally moved there I was EXTREMELY worried about finding good BBQ. Hell, the people in Massachusetts think a "BBQ" is burgers and dogs. Little did I know I lived less than a mile from one of this nations BEST BBQ joints. I literally came here 1-3 times a week easy. BBQ was great, bartenders knew how to make a cocktail, the live entertainment was awesome. read more

Been to the Marlboro Fireflys a number of times. It is a great spot for some good BBQed food. The ribs and pulled pork have always been good. The pizzas are also a great option here. The beer selection is pretty deep and plenty to choose from. They also have a great raw pepper bar with about 20-30 different hot sauces to try. read more

We live a mile from Firefly's and have been there frequently since they opened - the food has always been consistently good when you're in the mood for that type of cuisine. We thought as a group of 15 it would be a great place to celebrate our Mom's 87th birthday. When we called to make the reservation we informed them that it was a birthday celebration and adjusted our schedules to arrive at an earlier time than requested, so that they could accommodate us. They sat us in the back room BETWEEN two tables of 30+ at each table, of young hockey players and their parents. Not only was the seating uncomfortably close, but the noise level of the kids shouting made it nearly impossible to hear each other speak. The waiter certainly did his best in a horrible situation. The manager apologized but said there was nothing they could do! I hope these out of town hockey teams continue to go there, because we won't be returning anytime soon! read more

Firefly's is a local favorite for BBQ. You can go there and get all your favorites (ribs, pulled pork, chicken, brisket, the list goes on). There menu is very large, but I usually go with a huge group and we end up getting the picnic baskets. The picnic baskets come with a combination of all things BBQ, and it is delicious. I am a huge BBQ fan, and I must say it is not the best BBQ I have ever had, but it is a very good option (only option) in the greater Boston area. They participate in BBQ cook offs, and have won quite a few awards. With 4 main sauces, and a wall of hot sauce, they do not disappoint in flavor and options. A nice cold bar adds some fillers and sides. The cornbread is actually some of my favorite too. Service is always pretty good. Beer is always cold and refilled when needed, and soda refills are never a problem. I would certainly recommend eating here on any night, but you will over order, no matter what you do! read more

The best brisket, ribs and wings ever. Even the side dishes and the corn bread are excellent. We have traveled the south and I can tell you this place has them all beat. A absolute must - my grade A+. And the desserts are all home made and are terrific. A well oiled machine for sure and also the service is excellent with plenty of parking when you arrive. There are many things to like about Fireflys. The salads are very fresh, and are great with the Jamaican jerk chicken and chile lime vinaigrette. Cornbread croutons? Genius. I also like the pulled pork, pulled chicken, thanksgiving sandwich, and especially their homemade Texas style BBQ sauce. I could seriously eat that on anything and it would taste amazing. Have I had better BBQ? Sure. But this certainly scratches the itch. Specifically, I find the brisket and ribs to be a little tougher than I would like. Oh, and it's great for takeout. They separate your meal into containers so nothing gets soggy. Another genius move that I very much appreciate. read more

Came here on my birthday and the service was perfect and attentive! Food was cooked to perfection. I got the 3 meat combo with fried chicken, st luis ribs and pulled pork and enjoyed every bit of it. They even gave me complimentary red velvet cake because it was my birthday. I love this restaurant! read more

1st off this review is long overdue. The entire Firefly staff was Incredible with catering my wedding in October! It was a small reception and we've always enjoyed the food anytime we have gone to the restaurant and couldn't be more pleased with how it all came out. Fireflies you rock and will always be a favorite among places we go out to eat! read more

I should have done this review a long time ago! My family visits here frequently and also orders catering/takeout every once in a while. I'm not big bbq fan, but my family swears by their burnt ends. Some of my extended family travels here from Maine just for the burnt ends when they have a free day. Everything on the menu is consistently good, and it's solid bbq in an area where good bbq is nearly impossible to find. read more

This Texan and her Maine husband searched for beef ribs and brisket and found both at Firefly's BBQ in Marlborough, MA. They also had a nice surprise by having Kreuz Market Sausage which famous in the Texas Hill Country. Every thing was so yummy. Staff were warm and friendly. Great choice of sides too. We'll be back!! read more

Amazing, Unbelievable, WOW. My family and I went for dinner on a random Saturday night in March. Circumstances had it such that we were in the area for an over night, and the hotel we were staying at had a list of close restaurants. Fireflys jumped off the page, I had gone to the one in Natick a long time ago and recalled how good it was. We couldn't not go. A few days prior, I called and made a reservation (2 kids under 5, better safe than sorry). We arrived about 5 min before our 5:30 reservation, the parking lot was packed. Its clear that parking is an issue, but they offer complimentary valet (problem solved). When we walked in to the restaurant there was a line of about 15 people waiting for tables. We walked up, checked in for our reservation and they brought us right to our table. Boy was I happy I made that reservation! And they gave us a booth right next to a window, perfect for the kids! It was obvious that the place was packed, and the servers had their hands full with a few very large parties. But it didnt take long for the busy server to take our drink order, great selection of brews on tap, as well as bottled (but lets face it, you dont goto a BBQ place for the beer). We got the Candy Lacquered Bacon appetizer- which was served with a sunnyside egg. I dont have the words or vocab to describe how amazing this appetizer was. I was speechless- in sheer awe at how amazing it tasted. The thick cut bacon cooked to perfection, I had high expectations of this app. after looking at the menu prior to arrival. It exceeded my expectations beyond belief, if your thinking 'its just bacon what could be so great' try it and youll see. main course- I ordered the combo pick 2, I ordered the ribs and brisket. Being a BBQ experimenter myself I knew that the brisket has two cuts and I prefer the point cut of it. Its fattier, juicier and more flavorful (in my humble opinion). I requested the point cut opposed to the flat cut- figuring that it wasnt served standard, the server checked with the kitchen and they made it happen. The ribs, cooked perfect, nice smoke ring that you see on tv, bravo. The point cut brisket came out in a huge chunk (as expected) and was out of this world. Juicy, plenty of meat, nice bark- again cooked to sheer picture perfect perfection- and tasted better than it looked. I got the home made chips/ mac and cheese. good sides great complement to the main attraction. My wife got ribs and pulled pork, the pulled pork was another A+ attraction, done right on every level. My kids got the waffle and smiley fries, I dont think ive ever seen my son eat so much in his entire life. It was like he couldnt stop, he wanted to drink the maple syrup! it was that good, we restrained him but allowed him to finish his sisters when she was done eating. We saw the red velvet cake go by, heard it was amazing, but didnt have any room left to order it. Great place cool atmosphere. AMAZING BBQ, go there to eat and stuff your face. You dont goto a bbq place to order salad and 'be good' with your diet. go hungry and ready to eat and leave full. try the bacon app. its a thing of beauty, and make a reservation. I will go out of my way to come back, and hope they open another one close to where i live. read more

We LOVE FireFlies and have been going for as long as I can remember. We have gone with our extended family, with our kids and for date nights just the two of us. Each and every time we are greeted by a fabulous staff and in most cases by Steve, the owner, himself. We have always had wonderful service and the food is out of this world! I always come out of there with a full belly, a happy heart and leave feeling that my patronage was very much so appreciated. We just celebrated with our extended family for our 3rd New Years Eve and are planning on returning for our daughter's birthday dinner again in February. I could t be more happy with this restaurant. Thanks Steve for another fabulous meal. read more

No big deal but, I totally had a picture on the wall after I won a wing eating challenge. Totally crushed it. Foods good, sweet tea is good. Give it a shot. read more

The Best BBQ you can get around here. The atmosphere is so open and welcoming, and the staff is always the friendliest. I went last weekend, and the owner Steve went around table to table checking in on folks. Me and my friend, who had never been, chatted with Steve for a while, and he was the most gracious host. He wasn't just "showing face"- this is a guy that really cares about his food and about his customers. And he has something to brag about! The St. Louis Ribs are the best ribs you can get in the New England area, bar none. Perfectly smoky and meaty with a little zest. And the sauces here are better than you can get anywhere else. What other BBQ joint has 5 STELLAR BBQ sauces to choose from? Between the ribs, the long list of incredible sides, and appetizers like Burnt Ends (if you have not experienced burnt ends from a BBQ restaurant, START HERE), you have a full fledged BBQ mecca. And don't get me started on Sunday brunch... read more

I recently went to Firefly's on a Friday night, when they have live music in Dante's. We did the "dinner and a show" reservation. The music was great. The food was great. Prices are affordable. I definitely recommend this place if you are looking for live entertainment or just great BBQ. read more

Finally - BBQ as great as that found in Texas! I was so happy to find this place - I'm always disappointed by BBQ in New England. It typically doesn't even approach the level of what you can get in Texas or down South...not even close. However, the BBQ here rivals and exceeds many of the places I've encountered in my travels. At last - a BBQ place that is AWESOME and right here. Sides were delicious too, and I loved the St. Louis Ribs and brisket and burnt ends. Wow. Just fabulous. read more

I always see this restaurant on Phantom Gourmet and I live 15 minutes away from the place and still I always drive by there wondering what there food taste like. I promised myself that one of these times I would get there and try there famous BBQ and I finally got the chance a month back to savor there delicious BBQ. My fiance was shocked I had never been there, let alone tired there food. So we drove over there and got there pulled chicken, free cornbread, baked beans, fried pickles, and bread pudding. One word...AMAZING!!!! The pulled chicken was literally falling apart as I was trying to eat it out of the sandwich and it was delicious! The fired pickles are addicting, so if your in the mood for a yummy snack I definitely recommend the fried pickles. Now everytime I get a craving for BBQ I know exactly where to go Firefly's. So go check them out, you won't be disappointed! read more

I've been here a few times now (I try not to review a place after just one visit). Each time it's been really good. I hit Firefly's when I'm in the area and Labareda's is closed. (Labareda's isn't exactly the same but is a DELICIOUS and inexpensive stop for a carnivore!) Anywho - the food is great at Firefly's! The fried chicken, ribs, pulled pork - YUM! Could eat it all day long. The cornbread was really good, moist and delicious. I'm a carb guy - the mac n cheese was pretty darn good (not the best I've had but far better than a lot of restaurants I've been to and the potatoes (though they looked funky) were really tasty. The sausage was a bit dry but I guess it happens! We were all too full for dessert though they sounded great. The downsides (not huge ones, but). A couple of times they've run out of certain meats - but I go there towards the end of the night so I really can't complain. They're kitchen is open later than most places, and I'm sure they have to throw everything out at the end of the night, so I don't blame them for not starting a new brisket an hour before they close. They have plenty of choices, just don't have your heart set on 1 thing and stroll in an hour before closing. The service is a tad bit spotty. Friendly, but spotty. Hard to get refills, got the famous 'here's your check' and then everyone disappears (hate that! lol). It seemed everyone working there was quite young, which is fine. But perhaps they need some experienced management? The bartender was super friendly / helpful. Anyways, the service was acceptable overall (nothing really egregious), the food is fantastic, the hours are great and the atmosphere is your typical franchise-nice. Thus the 4 star rating! read more

To start, I'm not a huge fan of BBQ restaurants. However, my partner is. We decided to go out for dinner this past Saturday, and this is the place we chose. I was super impressed with the food, the service, and beer options. Probably the best BBQ place I've ever been to. I also really liked that the owner was there to greet us and also checked in on us to see how our meal was going. I definitely felt like more than a customer. Thanks Firefly! You've earned some new customers with the high quality food and service you offer. read more

We had a large group and needed a place who could handle it. This was the right place and we were all so pleased with the experience! It was low stress from the initial call through the meal. The food was excellent as they set up a local buffet for us and people ate a ton and there was still a ton of leftovers. The waitstaff is so friendly and helpful. We will be back. read more

Great BBQ, great service and reasonable prices. Low key but fun environment and their new back patio space is phenomenal. The servers and bartender on the patio are so helpful. Multiple times we've gone and they've helped us get the heating lamps going. Super friendly. Firefly's BBQ is insanely good. Hands down the best BBQ you can get in the northeast, and competes with southern BBQ. The food is cooked just right. I usually get the brisket and it is so tender and flavorful. Ribs and fried chicken are also amazing. Definitely my favorite restaurant overall in the area. read more

My wife and I have eaten at Firelfy's fairly often in the past few years, and I can state two facts with absolute certainty: 1. We have never had anything less than a stellar meal every time 2. The waitstaff were always courteous, friendly and efficient We like the lounge for its intimate setting, TV's are well placed in the lounge for prime viewing, if we decide to eat in the restaurant, there's more than ample room for everything. We have also taken in a couple of live bands there, in Dante's at Firefly's, and have enjoyed the experience tremendously! Large dance floor, great house sound system, and for the most part, some of the best Boston area bands around. I have to tip my hat to the house sound engineer, who always makes everything sound good! Would defintely recommend Firefly's to anyone looking for some authentic home cooking, I call it soul food, the place just has a great vibe! read more

Love Firefly's BBQ and Dante's is a fun live music venue with several pool tables available and seating and dance floor space. Staff is pleasant and waitstaff and bartenders are rock stars! I have enjoyed their food pretty consistently, although I have occasionally experienced a not-as-good-as-last-time brisket...definitely dependable enough, however, that I frequently go there when I'm in the mood for barbeque. I enjoy their Sunday Brunch Buffet as well. It maybe wouldn't be everyone's cup of tea, but I highly recommend giving it a try. I'm an egg fanatic, so the freshness of the scrambled eggs is pretty much my only "complaint" there. I'm also pretty damn picky about my sweet tea, and Firefly's usually gets it better than most Northern restaurants. read more

This used to be my favorite restaurant; I was here once or twice a week, and for every birthday. Now? It's still a great place, but prices have gone up significantly and quality and portion size have gone down significantly. Thankfully it was "excellent" before so it's "good" now in its current state. Traditional barbecue, from ribs to pulled pork to brisket to fried steak, in its classic form or spicing up other dishes like burgers, mac and cheese, and pizza. I LOVE the sweet potato pecan pudding, and the bean salads are great. Try something new every time and you won't be disappointed. 1) Go back to Coke products (Pepsi? Really? The "sweatpants" of the beverage world?) 2) Fix the portions & pricing. Portions can go down OR prices can go up - not both. 3) Expand the menu; it's shrunk. read more

My husband and I have been on a quest to find great BBQ in MA. We've gone to a handful of places and decided to try Firefly for his birthday this past Fri. Our server was great and walked us through the menu when she found out it was our first time there. Based on her helpful recommendation, we split a 4 meat combo platter. She also brought us every sauce so we could try all of them. Not only we're the portions generous, but every meat and all of the sides were incredible! The brisket was fall apart tender (with no fat)! Each sauce was distinctive and we loved all of them. The friendly owner was walking around, talking to all of the patrons. When I mentioned that it was my husband's birthday, he promptly gave us a slice of red velvet cake. Even the dessert was amazing. Every single aspect of our dining experience was well worth the hour drive from the city. We've found the best BBQ in MA. We're looking forward to coming back! read more
