Came here for the first time and didn't know what to expect but the parking lot on the outside is huge so it must be popular! The restaurant is sectioned into about 3 different parts with one of them having live band show on a Friday night we went. We ordered waffle chicken with coleslaw and sweet potato fries. We also had the rib and pulled pork platter served corn bread with the sides cheese and mac, potato salad. The waffle was a bit salty but it's ok otherwise it would be weird to have sweet and salty chicken. The chicken was crispy and salty with a choice of white gravy or maple syrup on the side. The coleslaw and sweet potato fries were delicious, comfort food. The rib and pulled pork platter already had bbq sauce and but not too much so that you can add your own. There is also a stand where you can pick from at least 8 different bbq sauces and a bunch of other pickled vegetables unlimited. The food came quickly less than 10 mins maybe but there were also less people when we arrived. Portions were huge! You get what you pay for. Two of us ordered our own dishes but we probably only finished one because they were so big. Great service! I'd definitely come back here with friends who are visiting from out of town. read more

Just had the MOST AMAZING dinner at Fireflys patio! They have a great and safe system set up. All out meals were sooooo good. I love their all white meat buttermilk fried chicken . The sides were great too. The pulled pork was exceptional as well! We all had drinks that made us smile :) The service was efficient and friendly as always. I went here this weekend with my partner and unfortunately it was not a great experience. It is most unfortunate because my partner has stated many times before that this place has always been THE BBQ place to go to in Massachusetts. We went during an apparently busy time on a particularly busy night, without reservations, though we were seated immediately since all the buzz was about sitting outside and seeing the live music. Our table was clean and all of the staff at the hostess desk were pleasant. Our server was very busy, understandably so, so I wouldn't fault her for forgetting things or being in a hurry. For drinks, my partner and I ordered a Pepsi and a Dante's Mule, later followed by a water. The Pepsi came in a huge cup, which was actually very pleasant, but the mule however was not up to our expectations. I'll be honest here and say if it were any other signature drink I wouldn't complain, but there was little to no ginger taste at all; it pretty much tasted only of vodka and lime, which was pleasant in its own sort of way, though not recognizably a mule. I mentioned the water we ordered because it never arrived to the table before we left. For a starter, we ordered the burnt ends because I'm a sucker for them, and I find that not every BBQ spot offers them (I'd imagine because of the extra time it takes to prepare them alongside the rest of the brisket). The meat was inconsistent with some pieces being delicious and tender, others being tough and dry, though the horse radish sauce was wonderfully paired. The biggest reason for the less than stellar review was for the rest of our meals. I had ordered a combo of brisket and pulled pork, with the beans and coleslaw. My partner ordered the half rack St. Louis ribs, with a side of cucumber salad and Mac and cheese. The waitress informed us that they were out of baby back ribs, which I actually like to hear since it implies they serve only what was cooked fresh for the night and when it's gone, it's gone. This is where the rub is however, the meat we were served tasted a bit off. The brisket had a nice bark and good fatty portions, though the meat itself was dry. The extra black pepper and bark lead me to believe the cooks know their texas style well, so I figure it must just be the food having sat there or something, since it was the case for the ribs and the pulled pork as well. Additionally, the sides, besides the cucumber salad and cornbread, all tasted a bit off: the Mac and cheese was sort of tasteless, the coleslaw tasted sort of off, and the beans were alright, but still a bit odd? I recognize everyone has the same general variety of sides, so there need to be creative liberties taken and so I would never knock Firefly's for offering their own spin on sides, but this tasted just strange? Again, I don't take pleasure in mentioning all of this and I only say so to provide info to both customers and management who evidently pay very close attention to these reviews. I truly wish I could say I had a better time, and I hope to come back to firefly's someday in the future and have a different experience, but as it stands, we couldn't even finish our meals. If this was some cheap throw away experience I wouldn't be upset, live and learn, etc., but it was nearly $100 including a tip for the two of us. I recognize the love and attention that go into preparing this sort of food, I have spent a long time preparing and smoking my own BBQ, so I can only imagine the standard the owner holds himself and his business to. Unfortunately, I think it may be a while before I go back, and I hope that management don't assume I'm just some hater they must deflect or discredit. How did this place receive 4 stars!?!? Granted service was decent kinda slow, but food was just inedible! I ordered the St. Louis ribs. We opted for sauce on the side being that they have their own line of BBQ sauce, we can get and try on our own. Their sauces are delicious. We do highly recommend the Memphis and Dixie kiss BBQ sauce. Our ribs were so dry we had a hard time eating and chewing. The flavors were there, the quality just wasn't! We also ordered the sliced Beed briskets. Again so dry and chewy!! Our teeth hurt from all the rubbery chewing, we gave up on this ruined meal. At least our crazy roo wings were good. It has a nice kick to it. When the server asked if we wanted to take home our meal, it was a resounding no thanks! The most expensive was the meat combos we ordered. And those were the most disappointing aspect of our meal. For a $80 meal for two persons, only 1/3 of it was edible. Will definitely not be returning. read more

The food is generally good but there is an ongoing problem with incorrect take out orders. Ordered the pulled chicken sandwich that is supposed to have lettuce, tomato, onion straws, and Cajun remoulade. I got pulled chicken on a roll. Would not have ordered that. Ordered the pulled pork Mac and cheese and called to make sure there was no Panko on it. It came loaded with panko. The food is expensive. Seated for dinner last night in the outdoor patio area. The space has been renovated and overwhelmingly comfortable with couches, outdoor bar, entertainment, and feels like an upscale BBQ at your neighbors house. The food was spot on solid and the menu offers opportunities to enjoy quality Q your way. Clean/Sloppy, healthy, or decadent- perfect experience! But what made the evening amazing was the staff. Sydney was truly spot on offering solid suggestions and fun explanations to our family, very sweet, and became a welcomed part of our family dining. My girlfriend and were both born and raised in Texas, so we know just a little about barbecue. My uncle used to win contests with his brisket when I was growing up. We came not expecting much from a place this far north of the Mason-Dixon line Boy were we surprised! Starting with the candied bacon and cucumber salad for appetizers was like we had been transported back to our childhood and Grannys kitchen table. She had the beef ribs with collard greens and red beans and rice. The ribs had a perfect bark on them and were so tender it hardly needed any work to get it off the bone. The collard greens were vinegary with a spicy finish, perfect. The red beans and rice were authentic creole style, which was a pleasant surprise. I had a three-meat platter with pulled pork, brisket, and beef sausage, with the sweet potatoes and mac and cheese. The star of the plate was the sausage, which they apparently have flown in from Texas, and it's worth the effort to get sausage this good. The brisket was a delight and the pulled pork was fine. The sweet potatoes were exactly like my great aunt used make, and the mac and cheese like moms. Frankly, I could imagine getting take out from here for Thanksgiving. If the holiday is about home and family, then this food males me feel at home and remember family more than a carcass of poultry ever would. If you're looking for a place to hold an event, this is your best option! I am the coach of a local high school sports team and our end of season banquet venue cancelled on us two days before our event. After being told no by everywhere else in the area, Firefly's worked with us and took a group of almost 50 people on such short notice. I could not be more thankful for Firefly's and their staff for making it such a great night for my team and their families. The food was incredible, the service was even better, and the venue was perfect. We were able to have a great night with the team and their families to celebrate a great season. Found Firefly's on yelp after an awesome morning apple picking at Honey Pot Orchards. Planned to do take out but decided it was a better deal to do the buffet since there were so many choices. Five plus types of meat and some many salads and side with desserts like ice cream, cupcakes, pies and more. I knew there was some familiarity with this place but couldn't figure it out, then comes in a Yelp review oh right Phantom Gourmet when I used to watch years ago then realized there must be some paid endorsing since many of there recommendations have fallen short. But here I am $24 later writing this review. Sadly everything was dry like stringy meat dry the pork ribs were well smoked as with the chicken but the dryness didn't entice me to another bite. The fried chicken was flavorless how? It's fried to golden perfection I get that they have sauces so may not want to over season but it was just flour. I sat by the bar and watched countless people pick up take out for the game and thought I bet non-buffet stuff got a little different attention. Went to Fireflys on a Saturday night and wasn't sure what to expect...holy cow they have tasty barbeque here! Having lived in Texas for years I know barbeque well, it's some of the most authentic I've had in New England. I ordered the Texas barbeque sampler which included ribs, brisket, collard greens, corn, and cornbread. The brisket was the star for me. It had a wonderful smoky flavor and was tender and juicy. The ribs were very tender and flavorful but they didn't have any smokiness to them, almost as if they weren't smoked. The corn and cornbread were excellent. Myself and my husband were looking for the perfect restaurant to celebrate our wedding anniversary, and after two weeks of searching The Phantom Gourmet brought us here. Aside from getting married, deciding to visit Firefly's was our second best idea. We looked at the menu and already decided we were coming back for another visit before we had even tried anything, all of the dishes being served to the customers looked amazing. The restaurant itself provides a nice atmosphere and is very clean. I'm not sure if they offer walk-in service, but we did make a reservation as we were driving from an hour and a half away- glad we did because the house was packed! Now onto the food. Hands down the best damn BarbeQue I've had in my life. No other BBQ spot around can compare, and they have the awards to prove it. They offer different sauces (such as vinegar based, tomato based, molasses based, etc.) and there wasn't one me or my husband didn't enjoy (Coming back for those bottles on our next visit!) All of the meats are incredibly tender and sauced to perfection, the ribs fall off the bone and the chicken is perfectly breaded and fried. I can use a million different adjectives to describe the meat, but "dry and bland" are NOT two of them. The sides are also very good and the cornbread is out of this world. Firefly's also offers a whiskey bar, brews, and signature cocktails, which we will be trying next time! The owner also showed a lot of true care for his restaurant and his customers, as we had seen him stopping at multiple tables asking customers how their experience was- even stopping at our table. I don't do reviews, I've never found a restaurant that has "wow-ed" me enough to do one. I gave Firefly's what I think is an extensive review, because they absolutely deserve it with the hard work and love they put into the restaurant and their food. It's a blessing we live an hour and a half away, because we would probably find ourselves here every-other-day if we were closer, ITS THAT DAMN GOOD! Make the drive out. Bring the whole family. You know how you hear about Texas BBQ and think; I wish I could really just once experience what a real Texas BBQ place is like? Well.... Yes, it's a bit expensive, more than it was before, but what hasn't gone up in price? Good food does tend to be worth it, particularly if you enjoy it. But enough philosophy, how about the damn food? It's really, really good. If you like ribs, get the pork ribs, they are soft as butter and a little burnt on the outside, just the way they are supposed to be. I have found that most of the time, I get really meaty, juicy bones, almost having to really stuff myself to finish a 1/2 rack. And the sauces... Did I mention the sauces? Oh... My.... Gaud..... You will die in your shoes tasting the FOUR different versions of BBQ sauce (I like the Memphis best) and an entire bar of condiments. No, not condoms you monkey, you know the miniature corn, the sweet pickled onions, the tangy pickled peppers, beets too! Yeah, I am telling ya. It's like amaze maze. Don't you hate it when you go to a restaurant and they serve you that thimble full of water? Three gulps later you are lighting matches and flicking them at the waitress trying to get her attention. Went for the weekly specials. As usual, Firefly's did not disappoint. The atmosphere was perfect. Lively but not too loud. Had Kaleena as our server and she was amazing! Very attentive. If we needed something she was on top of it. And she was funny! Had our son laughing whenever she came over. We had a few questions on some items on the menu and she answered them with ease. Asked her opinion between two entrees and she was honest about which one she preferred. Didn't get the usual "they're both great" like I have from other places. And our food came out quick! My fiancé and I have been wanting to come here. So now that we are able to get out of the house, it was a must. Post quarantine is odd but Firefly was a great first outing. The outdoor dining was fantastic and clean. Waiter was quick and friendly. I ordered the Buttermilk Friend Chicken with Mac N Cheese and Mashed Potatoes. I was in heaven. It is the best meal I've had in a long time. I savored every bite. The owner came by and chatted with us for a bit. He was super friendly and you can tell he loves and is proud of his business. Takes a really long time to bring out the drinks. Everyone gets their order except me. Waitress leaves. Passes by a bit later and I ask for my beer. "Oh, we're out of xxxx beer." Really? No thought of letting me know earlier, when you served the rest of the table? Ok, order the main dishes. I order a full rack and one side. Everyone is served and the waitress walks away. Except I don't have my side. Waitress passes by a bit later (is this starting to sound like a pattern?) and I ask for my side. "Oh, we're out of xxx side." Really? No thought of letting me know earlier, when you served the rest of the table? They were out of many of the sides. I did without. The ribs were meaty but overdone. I'll try again in six months and see if they get their act together. They've got a loyal following, but that only lasts for so long. There have been two other restaurants that I reviewed and predicted their demise within six months. I was right both times. I'll give Firefly's a year if they can't do better. I'm a little biased here because I'm a bigger fan of BBQ than any other food. I think average BBQ is still better than most foods. I also believe that Firefly's is slightly above average from the sampling that I had. I had the food truck when they came to Cambridge for a private event out on the front lawn. They were actually one of the fastest moving lines and although they only had two offerings (all trucks had limited menus)....they had some great food. I'm not the biggest fan of Mac & Cheese and they had an OK version of it. What I loved was that it was soft and filled with cheese and not the typical baked mac & cheese that a lot of BBQ places will tend to go with that's filled primarily with bread crumbs. I also had a small slider of BBQ pork. The pork was delicious and the smoke layers shined through the sauce. Sometimes you can get a sauce that will over power the hard earned smoking time of the meat, but not this time. The cuts of pulled pork were delicious with a perfect consistency. I also loved the BBQ sauce. I think they had a Memphis version and it was just the right amount of sugar, spice & everything nice. But more specifically....this was a sauce that was bold smoke upfront with a kick of vinegar on the backend. It was a glazy sauce but stayed clear away from the Carolina vinegar saucy and their water consistency. It was for a private event so I didn't have to pay and I don't know what the prices are. Been to fireflies before and loved everything. Service was great. Staff was very friendly. Got a few appetizers, BBQ chicken pizza and fried pickles( out of this world). Absolutley love the cucumber salad. Only problem order a Catfish Po Boy, fish tasted muddy and mushy, bread was hard like it was previously frozen. Truly a big miss for a person who loves catfish. Th lis really a make or break food. Definitely not something I would ever eating there or reccomend. Staff was more than willimg to get me something else. Would be a five star rating otherwise. A tad disappointed in a place like this. If they can fix this problem would be more than willing to try it again and change to 5 stars if they prove me wrong. read more

Our building had their annual company BBQ feeding around 400 attendees. With our typical caterers unable to fulfill the needs this year, I contacted Firefly's about 2 weeks before our event. Bianca was beyond professional and organized, answering my emails promptly, asking questions, and being overall proactive while ensuring they will be able to accommodate all requests we had. Upon arrival-they were early which was already an amazing sign!- the team was coordinated and ready to go. There was clear communication and expectations set, to which I did not have to lift a finger! I was able to focus on additional aspects to the event such as table and chair setup, speaker setups, etc. As if this was not already above and beyond enough, the team began clearing off the leftover trash on the tables and directing employees to the shortest line as we had 3 stations! I cannot speak highly enough of the team and their capabilities and we look forward to working with them in the future! read more
