The space has been renovated and overwhelmingly comfortable with couches, outdoor bar, entertainment, and feels like an upscale BBQ at your neighbors house. The food was spot on solid and the menu offers opportunities to enjoy quality Q your way. Clean/Sloppy, healthy, or decadent- perfect experience! But what made the evening amazing was the staff. Sydney was truly spot on offering solid suggestions and fun explanations to our family, very sweet, and became a welcomed part of our family dining. My girlfriend and were both born and raised in Texas, so we know just a little about barbecue. My uncle used to win contests with his brisket when I was growing up. We came not expecting much from a place this far north of the Mason-Dixon line Boy were we surprised! Starting with the candied bacon and cucumber salad for appetizers was like we had been transported back to our childhood and Grannys kitchen table. She had the beef ribs with collard greens and red beans and rice. The ribs had a perfect bark on them and were so tender it hardly needed any work to get it off the bone. The collard greens were vinegary with a spicy finish, perfect. The red beans and rice were authentic creole style, which was a pleasant surprise. I had a three-meat platter with pulled pork, brisket, and beef sausage, with the sweet potatoes and mac and cheese. The star of the plate was the sausage, which they apparently have flown in from Texas, and it's worth the effort to get sausage this good. The brisket was a delight and the pulled pork was fine. The sweet potatoes were exactly like my great aunt used make, and the mac and cheese like moms. Frankly, I could imagine getting take out from here for Thanksgiving. If the holiday is about home and family, then this food males me feel at home and remember family more than a carcass of poultry ever would. If you're looking for a place to hold an event, this is your best option! I am the coach of a local high school sports team and our end of season banquet venue cancelled on us two days before our event. After being told no by everywhere else in the area, Firefly's worked with us and took a group of almost 50 people on such short notice. I could not be more thankful for Firefly's and their staff for making it such a great night for my team and their families. The food was incredible, the service was even better, and the venue was perfect. We were able to have a great night with the team and their families to celebrate a great season. Found Firefly's on yelp after an awesome morning apple picking at Honey Pot Orchards. Planned to do take out but decided it was a better deal to do the buffet since there were so many choices. Five plus types of meat and some many salads and side with desserts like ice cream, cupcakes, pies and more. I knew there was some familiarity with this place but couldn't figure it out, then comes in a Yelp review oh right Phantom Gourmet when I used to watch years ago then realized there must be some paid endorsing since many of there recommendations have fallen short. But here I am $24 later writing this review. Sadly everything was dry like stringy meat dry the pork ribs were well smoked as with the chicken but the dryness didn't entice me to another bite. The fried chicken was flavorless how? It's fried to golden perfection I get that they have sauces so may not want to over season but it was just flour. I sat by the bar and watched countless people pick up take out for the game and thought I bet non-buffet stuff got a little different attention. Went to Fireflys on a Saturday night and wasn't sure what to expect...holy cow they have tasty barbeque here! Having lived in Texas for years I know barbeque well, it's some of the most authentic I've had in New England. I ordered the Texas barbeque sampler which included ribs, brisket, collard greens, corn, and cornbread. The brisket was the star for me. It had a wonderful smoky flavor and was tender and juicy. The ribs were very tender and flavorful but they didn't have any smokiness to them, almost as if they weren't smoked. The corn and cornbread were excellent. You know how you hear about Texas BBQ and think; I wish I could really just once experience what a real Texas BBQ place is like? Well.... This isn't Texas and you aren't a cowboy so let's get that out of the way up front. But, if you love BBQ anyway and even if you have been to Texas for BBQ, you are STILL going to love this place. Yes, it's a bit expensive, more than it was before, but what hasn't gone up in price? Good food does tend to be worth it, particularly if you enjoy it. But enough philosophy, how about the damn food? It's really, really good. If you like ribs, get the pork ribs, they are soft as butter and a little burnt on the outside, just the way they are supposed to be. I have found that most of the time, I get really meaty, juicy bones, almost having to really stuff myself to finish a 1/2 rack. And the sauces... Did I mention the sauces? Oh... My.... Gaud..... You will die in your shoes tasting the FOUR different versions of BBQ sauce (I like the Memphis best) and an entire bar of condiments. No, not condoms you monkey, you know the miniature corn, the sweet pickled onions, the tangy pickled peppers, beets too! Yeah, I am telling ya. It's like amaze maze. Don't you hate it when you go to a restaurant and they serve you that thimble full of water? Three gulps later you are lighting matches and flicking them at the waitress trying to get her attention. Well, not here. First, no open fires are allowed (darn it) but you will never need a water refill because the water glasses are Ginormous and the wait staff all drink so much coffee that they grind their teeth running all over the place making sure you are happy. Good ribs, brisket, and chicken are worth the trip but the side dishes are like little masterpieces each exploding with flavor and authentic deliciousness. Maybe you don't like collared greens, but I know you love cornbread, right? See? everyone does. Well, there a trillion side dishes, all super special and every dinner comes with that moist soft cornbread that you know you shouldn't eat all of it first before your dinner. But you will, I know who you are. I do too, can't help it. So shoot me. Look, this place is dope so don't just sit there, come visit beautiful Marlborough, MA, get your car valet parked for free, get a cold one and hang out for one fun evening. By the way, do you know they ALSO have a national venue on site for blues music? I am talking Jay Giles national. Been a customer for about 20 years. Previously have given them 5 stars. Not so much any more. Party of ~10, waitress takes the beverage order. Place is less than half full. Takes a really long time to bring out the drinks. Everyone gets their order except me. Waitress leaves. Passes by a bit later and I ask for my beer. "Oh, we're out of xxxx beer." Really? No thought of letting me know earlier, when you served the rest of the table? Ok, order the main dishes. I order a full rack and one side. Everyone is served and the waitress walks away. Except I don't have my side. Waitress passes by a bit later (is this starting to sound like a pattern?) and I ask for my side. "Oh, we're out of xxx side." Really? No thought of letting me know earlier, when you served the rest of the table? They were out of many of the sides. I did without. The ribs were meaty but overdone. I'll try again in six months and see if they get their act together. They've got a loyal following, but that only lasts for so long. There have been two other restaurants that I reviewed and predicted their demise within six months. I was right both times. I'll give Firefly's a year if they can't do better. I miss the old place and I really do hope I'm wrong. Would hate to see this place fold. read more

My fiancé and I have been wanting to come here. So now that we are able to get out of the house, it was a must. Post quarantine is odd but Firefly was a great first outing. The outdoor dining was fantastic and clean. Waiter was quick and friendly. I ordered the Buttermilk Friend Chicken with Mac N Cheese and Mashed Potatoes. I was in heaven. It is the best meal I've had in a long time. I savored every bite. The owner came by and chatted with us for a bit. He was super friendly and you can tell he loves and is proud of his business. My husband and I have been coming to Firefly's BBQ for a few years and it just keeps getting better. Things we love about it: 1. The food: there is something for everyone on the menu. The Jumbo wings are the best I have had. They taste just like traditional BBQ chicken that you had as a kid and are big and juicy. The bodacious burger is my husbands favorite and I love the Cesar salad. 2. The entertainment: they always have a phenomenal band playing at Dante's. They just remodeled and the space is beautiful and very comfortable with a phenomenal sound system so it feels like you are at a concert! ( Tequila Bonfire, Whiskey Church and Tiger Lilly are our fav's) 3. The atmosphere: The outside patio is beautiful and on a nice night you can eat outside and listen to live music. 4. The service: All of the wait staff is super friendly and kind but one recent stand out was Jocelyn. She waited on us for dinner outside on the patio and she was a gem. I'm a little biased here because I'm a bigger fan of BBQ than any other food. I think average BBQ is still better than most foods. I also believe that Firefly's is slightly above average from the sampling that I had. I had the food truck when they came to Cambridge for a private event out on the front lawn. They were actually one of the fastest moving lines and although they only had two offerings (all trucks had limited menus)....they had some great food. I'm not the biggest fan of Mac & Cheese and they had an OK version of it. What I loved was that it was soft and filled with cheese and not the typical baked mac & cheese that a lot of BBQ places will tend to go with that's filled primarily with bread crumbs. I also had a small slider of BBQ pork. The pork was delicious and the smoke layers shined through the sauce. Sometimes you can get a sauce that will over power the hard earned smoking time of the meat, but not this time. The cuts of pulled pork were delicious with a perfect consistency. I also loved the BBQ sauce. I think they had a Memphis version and it was just the right amount of sugar, spice & everything nice. But more specifically....this was a sauce that was bold smoke upfront with a kick of vinegar on the backend. It was a glazy sauce but stayed clear away from the Carolina vinegar saucy and their water consistency. It was for a private event so I didn't have to pay and I don't know what the prices are. Been to fireflies before and loved everything. Service was great. Staff was very friendly. Got a few appetizers, BBQ chicken pizza and fried pickles( out of this world). Absolutley love the cucumber salad. Only problem order a Catfish Po Boy, fish tasted muddy and mushy, bread was hard like it was previously frozen. Truly a big miss for a person who loves catfish. Th lis really a make or break food. Definitely not something I would ever eating there or reccomend. Staff was more than willimg to get me something else. Would be a five star rating otherwise. A tad disappointed in a place like this. If they can fix this problem would be more than willing to try it again and change to 5 stars if they prove me wrong. read more

I've been to Firefly's at least two dozen times over the years and the food has been consistently good. That's not what I'm here to write about. Tonight, we had some of the best service I've experienced in years. Our waiter (Mark or Marco) was pleasant and polite. Even when he was busy and couldn't come to the table, he stopped over and apologized for the delay. But what really blew us away was the manager. We didn't get his name, but he came over and sat next to my youngest son, engaging with him and even getting him to eat more of his dinner. These two good experiences were enough for me to rush home and take note. And so should you, Firefly's is a wonderful place for families!!! read more

I have never been to a Firefly's until I had went to this one. In the past i remember seeing commercials on tv for their catering. This restaurant was clean and everyone was friendly. No complains. They also allowed my party to move tables which is also nice. We prefer booths over tables. Our waitress was upbeat and helpful. None of us had gone to a Firefly's before so it was a new experience to all of us. To me it seemed similarly to a chilly's and a Texas rhode house mashup. The food was good. I order ribs and Mac and cheese. It all tasted good and cooked right but I guess for me it was nothing special. My friend did not like her Mac and cheese but she prefers a more home style version of Mac and cheese. The atmosphere just seemed a little dated. I don't know why but something just seemed off to me.
