We first saw Firefly's at the Phantom Gourmet BBQ bash last spring at the Mendon drive-in. I tried the pulled pork Mac and cheese - two food items that I usually like but would never consider mixing together. It was delicious! Even though it's a bit of a drive for us, we will probably go back. read more

The service was exceptionally accommodating, really great staff from the Manager, to the bartenders and of course our server Shawn. The food was great! The pulled pork & brisket was to die for and make sure to order the sweet potato pudding...yum! Wish I had room for desert. Make a point to eat at this restaurant if you are in the area. We go everytime we are up for a hockey tournament. read more

Good food and fun place to visit. Since I have family in the area, I've been several times and have never been disappointed.

Last Saturday after taking my nephews to the Monster Jam Truck Rally, but brother suggested we go to Firefly's for dinner. I was excited because I haven't made it down there yet, and have always heard such amazing reviews. We arrived at about 4pm with a party of 8. We didn't have a reservation, but the friendly hostess was able to accommodate us in just a minute or two. Within the time it took to figure out what we wanted, this place was starting to get packed. I now understand why. We shared 3 different appetizers. We got Cracklin Bread, nachos, and Burnt Ends. Generally on my second visit to a restaurant, I would try never to order the same things again, however that could be hard here. We loved every bit of it... even my 4 nephews (ages 5 - 10) who are the pickiest eaters I know. The Burnt Ends were bar far one of the best things I have ever tasted in my entire life. My 6 year old nephew slapped his head in complete amazement and didn't want to swallow because he didn't ever want the flavor to end! For entrees, three of the kids got waffle with smile fries and a cookie. All enjoyed it. My 8 year old nephew got the kids rib plate. The first ribs he has ever had. He said it was the best thing he ever eaten. My sister in law had to explain to him that Firefly's ribs weren't like other ribs... and that he shouldn't expect something this great every time he orders them elsewhere closer to home. My mother got a burger, I don't exactly remember which one she got, or what she put on it, but she ALWAYS gets a burger. It is her "go to" whenever she is out. I guess it was a good sign when she took a bite, and immediately cut it in half so she could bring half home to my father. She wanted to prove to him how good the burger was, so he would bring her back soon. My brother and sister in-law got a 3 Meat Combo to split. They got pulled pork, ribs, and chorizo sausage. I don't remember which sides they chose, but they polished off their plate. My sister in-law, for as long as I have known her, has refused to eat ribs anywhere but one place close to her house. However, after Steve the owner stopped by the table to see how the appetizers were, he explained the lengthy smoking process that most restaurants don't have the ability to do, and to serve them fresh...not reheated. He convinced her. She now has a new favorite, and Im sure she will be taking my rib loving nephew back very soon. I had the Steve's BBQ Sampler. I got the ribs with memphis bbq sauce, and the brisket. I got mac and cheese, and jalapeño cheddar corn bread for my sides. Well after I have stuffed myself with appetizers, I immediately put half of my meal in a take out box to enjoy at home later. The ribs were amazing. Not a sign of meet left on the bone. It fell right off. The brisket. Oh the brisket. I am sort of a brisket snob because I used to work in a Jewish Style Deli/Restaurant. Un-freakin-believeable. I ate my left overs for breakfast! I woke up at 4am and had to stop myself from going to the fridge for a snack! Id be remised if I didn't mention Matty our server. Ive worked in restaurant my entire life. No server ever really wants to start out their Saturday evening with a table that includes four children. He was GREAT! He spoke to the kids directly instead of ordering through their parents, and was having conversations about hockey, and the monster trucks they had just seen. Servers often forget that children are people too. How else are they supposed to learn how to act in a restaurant if they aren't not treated with the same regard as their parents? Well done Matt and Steve! We will most definitely be back more frequently! read more

Firefly's BBQ is a steady treat. It delivers taste and value every time. Sometimes there's music in the back where you can stand while you digest. We always get the ribs and the chicken, always get different sauces from the choose your own bar and great vegetables too. The owner is attentive to all his customers. We go there whenever we want good tasty barbecue. Try it. read more

I went with my family this past weekend and the food was unbelievable. It was our first time there and we were pleasantly pleased. We started out with the Roo Wings which were delicious. Just the right amount of sweet and spicy. I got the 1/2 Bbq chicken, my husband got ribs and my daughter enjoyed the mac and cheese. Everything was very tasty. Our server Rose was very friendly and accommodating. We love the fact that she drew a Rose on the paper bag for us. We thought that was really cute. She also recommended what became my new favorite drink. I'm in love with Topless Melons! We will be coming back soon!!! read more

Can't say enough about the great food and superb, off-the-hook friendly service. From the moment the door was opened with a smile to the conversations with the owner and GM to the awesome service from Gina- we were truly impressed. Best BBQ around! read more

We have been working with Steve at fireflys for many years, and since we usually go there in the morning, way before opening, we have only enjoyed the delightful aromas, but never the dining experience.... until last night... Firstly, the service from greeting, seating ,ordering and serving was fantastic, as was the food..but the most significant impression was the amazingly quick action of the staff ,especially April ,when another diner near us was choking and actually lost consciousness..As we found out later the staff is fully trained for situations like that and April basically saved this womans life.. We cannot wait to return for another wonderful dinner..oh, try the chocolate beignets if they have them, read more

I absolutely love this place! My boyfriend and I moved to the area recently and always drove by it and decided to give it a shot and I'm so glad we did! The food is excellent and the service is great and fast! Also the Mac and cheese is phenomenal (as are the ribs). I highly recommend it! read more

I went to Firefly's yesterday after work with 29 of my co-workers to bid a fellow employee farewell. First off the new Patio is AMAZING. Beautifully decorated, furniture very comfortable and even an area to play "corn hole" bean bag game. The food was amazing, but more than all of the that, the wait staff was professional, warm, friendly, continually checking in to make sure everyone was happy, well fed, and had drinks in our hands at all time. This is a GREAT place. The food was out of this world. Clean, contemporary and very inviting. I will definitely be going back! read more

Food was delicious. The new outdoor patio/bar is awesome! Karen was our bartender/waitress and she is AWESOME! Definitely going back.

We come here all the time and it is always good, but , Steve, please bring back the Cracklin' Bread.

This was my first visit and it was nothing short of amazing, The food Was delicious and My waiter Alex was extraordinary! will most definitely be visiting again and I cant wait to see the staff and have the food again. read more

Great for bbq, and great to listen to your favorite band while dancing OR playing pool. Not a huge bbq fan but they like the menu. New outdoor patio is nice upgrade from old patio. read more

My wife and I visit Firefly's regularly. Everything from the hostess and waitstaff, to the quality of food is first rate. We've never had a bad meal or a bad experience there, whether we've eaten in the restaurant, the bar, or in Dante's (the live music club). Menu selections are great, portions are definitely generous (if you leave there hungry it's your own fault.), and the bar does make great drinks. Beer list is better than most places (Smuttynose Old Brown Dog Ale to Corona), and the atmosphere is family-friendly. What more could you want? read more

I have been a few times recently, and the service has gone down dramatically. I dont know if its poor managment or what. I used to be treated like a great customer, and now it seems we have to wait to get a drink.. then forever for our meals. We actually had our rehersal dinner there years ago in their function room as it was a great middle point for everyone. everyone loved the food and i told everyone to go their for a great meal and service.. I tend to now not recommend anymore. Hire better staff i say...or re train them on customer service. read more

We were recommended this restaurant from a visit to Vin Bin in marlboro yet I do not know why. The service in the bar was ok, but that is the most I can say for our visit. The wait staff didn't seem engaged with us as you would expect in a restaurant. The food was dry and not very delicious which, for a $50 tab that included an appetizer, a burger and 2 beers, was disappointing. We may be visiting from out of state, but we won't be recommending to any of our family who live here. On the contrary, we will caution against it. read more

Best night out in a long time! The food was excellent, macaroni & cheese is amazing. We had a large party and the service was spot on. Continued our night at Dante's in the next room with a great band. read more

The food is good, service is alright. Its a good place to bring kids but when you don't have kids of your own, and are surrounded by screaming children, the atmosphere isn't as fun. The staff is a little young but they are friendly. The food is worth going back for. read more

Got take out for the first time from Firefly's last night. Tasty ribs and po'boy, especially considering it was take-out. We'll eat there again! read more

This place is awesome. Steve is always friendly, the bartenders and waiters are great. The food and drinks are the best.. Definitely a place my husband and I go regularly!! read more

Excellent food (get the fried chicken) and even better service. The waitstaff is always friendly and professional. I always see the owner making rounds and checking on every table which you don't see a lot. Makes me believe how committed he is to the experience here. read more

Finally got to try Firefly's and was not disappointed! The jumbo wings are truly unreal!

Food and great is sooo good! Service is great and nice location!

Management was rude, didn't listen to my questions about wait time for the meal. Didn't answer me. Assumed they new my concern. Let large group go in front of me and pushed mine back, maybe because I had young kids. No time for me. I will not come back. When your dropping this much money for a dinner its the least they can do. Overall good people i'm sure. Just felt badly treated at the host area and soured the desire to eat here. read more

Great spot, they have a new outdoor patio with a bar just a great outside place to have a beer, on weekends they will have some live music out there and the bartender Karen is the best. read more

Very disappointing. Ribs no where as good as they use to be and a turkey sandwich with nothing but turkey and a bun. Geeze dont kill yourself here read more

Our family has recently moved to Marlboro. The first time we ate there, the food was pretty good (the combo: ribs good/chicken terrible/fries& cucumber salad & carrots good). The restaurant was busy, but the girl we had for a server was excellent. The second time we went, the restaurant was slow, and there was a younger male who waited on us. Service was not that good, but he was nice...just a little clueless. The other 2 people I was dining with had burgers and loved them. I had some lime chicken salad dish... I think the chicken was a "chicken product". It was not edible!! So, 3rd time's a charm, right? WRONG!!! We ate at a table in the bar area.I tried the combo again..the ribs were REALLY fatty this time, but they were pretty good. The chicken was not really BBQ..It was not good at all! I drowned it in BBQ sauce.. Another person and my party had the same dish & barely ate it! The service? You will love this...The bar & cocktail area is slow..There are 2 bartenders on..The bartender took our order after a while (we even had menus on the table & were looking at him!). I had to call the bartender over...(he was watching tv). Someone else (server from another area in the restaurant) brought out our food, the bartender did not check on us..he was texting on his phone & watching tv. We were finished, and I stacked the plates on the table. He looked at us several times, but continued to ignore us. One of the men in our party stared at him to get his attention, yet he still ignored us. Finally, I went up to the bar, and the bartender was texting on his phone again. I had to ask for the check...which was not even presented in a check holder, he just put it on the table! Even though Firefly's is close to us, I think we'll have to look elsewhere for real BBQ...and some actual CUSTOMER service!! read more

I popped in for dinner the other night because while I don't claim to be a bbq aficionado, my stomach would tell you otherwise. I typically order a sampler plate since I can never narrow my decision down to one meat. While variety is the norm, I feel like Fireflies had a bigger, pick-from-any-dozen-meats-and-sides type of menu than I'm used to seeing. I'd say I was overwhelmed, but my waiter was on point. He was a younger guy named Jim or Jimmy. He had great knowledge of the menu and walked me to a decision. I'm surprised he didn't get flustered or frustrated by all my questions and time I was taking. I don't typically order fried chicken, but he recommended it highly and I was off running. Chicken, sausage, and pulled pork with mac & cheese and cornbread. It's been a while since I enjoyed the meat sweats that good. I was impressed by the tap list (good variety), but again with a nudging from Jim/Jimmy, I ended up with a Big Daddy Rita. I can't believe I actually just typed those words, but I also had more than one. Thank you, Jim/Jimmy and thank you Firefly's. Next time I am in Marlborough I will stop by again! read more

I have been to Fireflys several times and each time I go I notice improvements. A week ago I celebrated a birthday there with a group of friends and everyone had a great time. We started off playing some pool and having some drinks while we waited for everybody to arrive. Once we were seated the owner came by to wish me a happy birthday, gave me a shot, then offered my first drink on the house. He helped set the tone for the night by making sure everyone was having a good time. He's definitely an owner that is completely involved in his work, interacting with customers and employees and overseeing all the operations of the business. The service was great and so was the food. The build-your-own burgers, candy lacquered bacon, cucumber salad and bbq food were great. It is very rare with a group of sixteen people to not have one complaint from anybody, not even when the bill came. Live music started at nine in the pool room/bar area so we stuck around after dinner for that. Definitely recommend Fireflys whether it's going with the family or just going for a couple drinks. read more
