First time here as we were visiting friends in town. Right on the golf course with great vibe and atmosphere. The food was good. Three of us ordered their Yahtzee burger (delicious) and before you pay you get three chances to roll a Yahtzee (I came within 1!). If you do your burger is free. Their Philly cheese steak was good. I bet every one of the wood fired pizzas are fantastic, because the dough is delicious and the neapolitan pizza crust was perfect. I got an aloha pizza, I think that the chicken could have been "factory prepared chicken chunks", but it didn't matter because all the topping together made for a perfect harmony of flavors. My only thought was what if it had a sprinkle of cinnamon. Richelle got the pepperoni rolls, or you might as well call them Stromboli. The garlic butter is a good choice, creamy, and not salty. Richelle also got onion rings, which were good too but the ranch siracha is kicking it. The beer selection when we were there was wonderful for a hot July day, I got a Maumee Bay MacQueens cider and Richelle got a Oncore blueberry wet sprocket. Local beer, yum. The food is always good and reasonably priced for a sit-down meal. It's a good family place for lunch.

Ladies and gentlemen, 5 stars. ATMOSPHERE: So the building is located in the middle of a golf course. Initially, I thought this weird, but it seems to work nicely. The tavern itself is very cool. It's modern and clean. It's also maze-like and very colorful. It's comfortable, but it is borderline psychedelic. I'm a sucker for interesting and/or nostalgic wall decorations...plenty of that stuff here. Do they have a (cool) pinball machine and some (crappy) video games? Yep. PIZZA: Ok. Damn! This is good pizza. There are several crust styles, but if I'm getting stone fired pizza, I prefer "cracker thin." It comes out of the oven slightly charred and crispy on the bottom, and softer on the top. The cheese and sauce have been perfect, too. There are, of course, specialty pies and PLOs (pizza like objects). I didn't try any of these, but most of them sounded pretty great. Actually...I did get the "Blue Berry Pie," an excellent dessert pizza. OTHER FOOD: I'm told by my son, a reliable source, that the "Triple Pickle Burger" was excellent. The chicken chunks initially looked a little too "battered," but with their homemade Buffalo sauce, they were excellent. Bear in mind though, we ain't talking "Warrior-Wings-Good," but FST does have some good chunks. Supposedly, the smoked wings are awesome...maybe next time I'll try them, if I feel like getting my fingers messy. BEER: Very nice selection of beers, seltzers, and ciders from, among other places, 4KD Crick Brewery (which is located, literally, next door). They do have a full bar, and what I'm told is a nice wine selection. SERVICE: So far so good. I/we got great service both at the bar, and at a table. If you find yourself in Defiance, you owe yourself to stop in. Even if you have to drive for an hour, it's still worth it. 5 STARS! read more

Stopped in to celebrate my husband's birthday this past Sunday and decided to sit at the bar. The bartender, Dom, was absolutely awesome and made excellent food and drink suggestions. He was very knowledgeable about everything on the menu and his friendly demeanor really made our visit such a wonderful experience. I had the porky mac smash and my husband's had the Philly Cheese Steak. Both were delicious! The atmosphere is so cool, just an altogether great place. Definitely planning on going back. read more

Writing this for other people like me who have to eat gluten and dairy free food! We were visiting family in the area and found this place on Yelp. Had the gluten free pizza with vegan cheese and was really pleased. You can order the toppings that you want. My husband had the wood fired Neopolitan pizza. He really liked it. Thought the crust was very good. They also have a very good beer selection and you can do beer flights. Of course I can't drink beer but he enjoyed the one he had. The restaurant is in the bottom floor of a building and is definitely a tavern atmosphere. Nothing fancy but that's not what we wanted any way. We sat at the bar and the guy who waited on us was very efficient. We'd definitely go back again! read more

Okay, first thing is first. Despite the flies everywhere - it's summer, it happens - the pizza is amazing. Worth every penny, even the excessively burnt swaths of crust. They could skimp a little less on the toppings, sure, but it's still amazing. But tonight's review is about the experience, particularly the beverages. Don't advertise a *house* margarita for $3.50 then more than double the price to add a shot of well tequila. The real slap in the face, though, was being charged almost twelve bucks for four soda waters. Who charges for soda water?! And we mention this to our server, politely informing her that we've never been charged here (or anywhere else) for it and we get the cop-out manager explanation of, "We pay for the carbonation, so we charge for the water." You pay what, a nickel? Never mind the shitty, condescending tone of it, but both the server and manager had a chance to say, "Oh, hey. Sorry for the mix-up, but we actually charge for our soda water (for some absolutely asinine reason) but we'll take it off this time, just so you know for next time." Five seconds of effort to show the customer's satisfaction matters more than charging eleven bucks for five cents of carbonation. Look, we like this place. We love it. Tonight was a special occasion we've been looking forward to all week. And it's the last time we'll be there. Hope that eleven bucks was worth it. EDIT: The business reached out to me immediately to resolve the situation and did so very courteously. I hate that things had to escalate to full-blown Karen when polite discourse failed but at the end of the day, they stepped up, made no excuses, and handled the situation responsibly. I'm adjusting my review from a 1 to a 4 for this (By choice, not because I was asked to or anything. Like I said, the pizza was GOOD!), and hope to see soon that their staff is comfortable and confident enough to resolve these sorts of things before they escalate to this point. We will more than likely stick with our plan of coming back for Father's Day, now. Take a note, Other Businesses Out There. This is how you resolve conflict and retain customers. When my family and I found ourselves in Defiance for a night, we wanted to treat ourselves to a good dinner for a decent price. Fired Stone Tavern more than exceeded our expectations. The atmosphere was funky, with colorful murals, classic arcade games, and colored lights everywhere (even the restroom!) The table was a swirled glitter pattern. Our hostess and server were both very friendly and attentive. The food was the star here, though, and we were so impressed! The brisket poutine was delicious and more than enough for the three of us. All three of us ordered various burgers and loved all of them! I specifically got the Yahtzee burger, and while I failed to roll a Yahtzee to get it for free, I wasn't disappointed; I would have ordered it anyway! My husband and daughter both got sweet potato fries as their sides and were blown away by the complimentary cinnamon butter sauce that accompanied them. The s'mores brownie was excellent too, as was 4KD Crick beer from the brewery next door (the Ransom Jr. stout). It's our first time here since moving back to the area. The pizza was fantastic. We had a supreme and the toppings were plentiful. The crust was hand tossed and was perfectly chewy crust that did not disappoint. I ordered wings since they were on special (.79¢). They're smoked. I ordered the smoky bbq and it was a good choice. We ate at the bar since there was a wait for a table. The bartender provide quick and friendly service. We look forward to coming back again. A couple of their mixed drinks look very good. What a cute, fun place. We rode the bike out from near Toledo and picked this place based on Yelp. It's located on a gorgeous golf course. Also, this listing says there's no patio, but there is. That's a huge bonus for us. It was later on a sunday and really slow, but the server was very attentive. We had the white cheddar spinach dip to start. It was really tasty. It's served with basic tortilla chips. I think something a little more interesting to dip with would've complimented the dip better. We each had a choose your own fried pizza. The crust was amazing. Smokey and airy just as it should be. Finally, there are twinkly disco lights in the bathrooms. What more could you need? ;) We will definitely make the ride out again. read more

Intended to go to Sweetwater for the salad bar but came in and realized that Fired Stone was finally open. I walked in with absolutely 0 expectations and was surprised by the trendy and funky decor!! You walk down the stairs of the entrance and you're greeted with neon lights and graffiti and other art done by local artists. You're presented with 4 questions as a prompt to "solve the password for entrance" which was just a fun way to get involved with your family. You can choose to answer the questions or choose not to! You must walk through the fringe to get to the restaurant. Inside the fringe is a selfie booth with different props and you can print them out too! A few arcade games also greet you near the host stand. The entire place is decked out with trendy decor and is a breath of fresh air in Defiance, OH. It really appeals to not only children but the young adult generation. There's a wall you can write on and a stack of games you can play. Our service was prompt and the pizza was really good! No complaints for improvement here, just keep doing what you're doing!! Bottomless icecream sundae bar with our local Arps Dairy soft serve for $3 was one of my favorite parts. Also, the menu states that they locally source products whenever possible so I admire that. This place has a full bar and sells local beer from 4kd Crick Brewery. Fired Stone Tavern is a very unique Tavern. When we first walk downstairs of the building to the restaurant we were taken back with the graffiti art work around the place. I personally like it, but it was a little much for my wife. But the restaurant is an old golf club house that has been converted into the restaurant, so I can understand the boldness of the decor. We waited about 45 minutes for the two of us to be seated. Our server was extremely friendly. We started with the homemade pizza rolls. They were extra greasy but they were really really good. My wife order the hand toss pizza. It was around 10" pizza for $10 and I ordered the Pittsburgh-Er burger. Both of our items were amazing. My only complaint about my food was my waffle fries were cold. But anyways... I can't wait to go back here read more

This was our third time getting pizza here. The food's great...but service leaves a lot to be desired. We ordered on line...waited the recommended 30 minutes from the website only to have to wait another 30 minutes. They hadn't even put the order in to make until we got there for pick The first waitress was very rude telling me the reason we had to wait was because we showed up early...2 minutes early. At least the one who brought the order was apologetic. Maybe management should either provide a longer wait time on their website or teach their employees to start an order when it comes in and how to be polite!! read more

First time trying Fired Stone Tavern. I usually go upstairs to the restaurant in the same building but thought I would give their pizza a try last night. Had a small salad and then the pizza came out. I ordered a wood-fired carnivore pizza and had a tall Maine Lunch IPA to go with it. Really good pizza. You definitely get the wood fired taste with the crust which was really good. And I liked that they brushed the crust after it came out with a garlic butter so it stood out even more. A very different restaurant but I can see why it's pretty popular. The parking lot and restaurant were relatively full. And it's a good option after golf for a bite and a beer. We got there around 6pm, they told us it was going to be a bit of a wait, understandable, we had 17 people. It was only an hour, not bad. We finally got in and they took our orders, it took them 2 hours to bring our food out. It was decent food and nice customer service but we had all gotten done eating and realized my 10 year old sister never got her food. They didn't give her a box so we had to leave. She never ate any of her food. I don't think I would come back anytime soon. read more

We had a great visit to Fired Stone Tavern! The food was DELICIOUS! The pizza and burgers are amazing! My four kids all had different items from the kids menu and each loved their pick too! Plus they got a free make-your-own ice cream sundae, which was a huge hit! They walked out of there with big smiles on their faces. It's always daunting to go to a restaurant with kids, but this restaurant is made for a family outing! When you walk in there is a tv with questions you answer to figure out the entry code for the door (don't worry, you can get in the other way if you want). This was a fun family active as we waited on a table! There is also a small arcade area, a photo booth that's free to use. Once you're in the restaurant the kids can color on some of the walls and there are shelves of games to take to your table to play. No lack of entertainment for children or adults. In the summer there are garage doors that open to a patio looking over the golf course and they also have bands some nights. It's really a great place all around! read more

The pizza is sub par for being known for fire stoned pizza. One of our pizzas was over done and the crust was black, the other was undercooked. The pizza is over priced in my opinion for what you get and the size of it. Now when it comes to customer service of the waitress that we had it was the exact same as the pizza. Our waitress was not friendly one bit. She did her job sub par as well took my glass of beer the was half full. Not once did she ask if I was finished with it and just grabbed it off the table and walked away too fast before I could say anything. Normally your waiter/waitress will ask if you're finished with your drink, plate, etc. but not once did she say anything. She had a attitude the entire time while serving us. I was not impressed with our waitress or the pizza at all. Don't waste your time for the hour wait to get over priced, burnt pizza, and terrible customer service.
