Every single staff member from the hostess to the servers were so super sweet, friendly, and accommodating. We came during their 50th anniversary so they were a little busy but the wait was pretty short. Their buffet was so good. They had so much to choose from. A salad bar, different meat that was absolutely delicious, just a bunch of comfort food all in one place. How can you beat all you can eat comfort food?! The staff were on top of changing out all of the food when the trays were empty too. The servers even wear clothes from the time period and the restaurant itself is exactly like a barn which gives a great, beautiful rustic feel. Be sure to check out the little gift shop too!

We have greatly enjoyed National Conferences in US from Boston to San Francisco, and it is a joy to attend the Sons of American Revolution Conference at Sauder's Village in Archbold. Always something about hotel lobbies, fireplaces, and good friends that is satisfying. The Friday night buffet is BBQ, and following a week of Great Smokies's dining, we were eager to enjoy "German style" meals. Brisket was better than southern; pulled pork had no flavor; ribs were burned; great salad bar; very few veggies. Locals love this place and we recommend. Neat and different ambience. Servers are first rate. Large parking lot. Older couples are attracted to buffets.

We ordered the Heavy Seas IPA, the stuffed jalapeños, and the new hummus and feta flatbread. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. The stuffed jalapeños had just the right amount of kick, and the hummus and feta flatbread was a delicious combination of fresh ingredients with plenty of flavor. The Heavy Seas IPA paired perfectly with the meal. The service was friendly, attentive, and welcoming, making the whole experience even better. If you're visiting Bryan, especially if you're stopping by Spangler Candy World, do yourself a favor and make time for Kora. Mimi's Retreat (Auburn, on the square) - dinning "retreat" during the Auburn Fair…read more Here is another one of our family traditions. We enjoy going to the Auburn Free Fall Fair. Looking at the 4-H animals, walking through the commercial tent, getting donuts, people watching and taking in the food vendor sights/smells are part of that experience. We also like to grab a bite to eat while there. However, I'm just not interested in fighting the lines to get an expensive corn dog, sirloin tip and/or fish sandwich....and then having no where to sit, relax and eat our selections. Enter Mimi's Retreat! Mimi's Retreat is small community bar that is located on the south side of the square - so they are right in the middle of the action! They are always open during the fair and tend to have fewer customers than normal. This makes them a great choice to duck into to get a good meal, at a pretty good price and sit & relax away from the crowds. Mimi's has been a part of the Auburn scene for as long as I can remember. They are best described as a community bar. They have some TV's for sports viewing. The attractive looking bar will seat about 10 people. There are less than modern tables to seat about another 40 patrons. Mimi's is set in an old building. They have stayed true to the older feel in terms of wood work, brick and vintage feel. The decor mainly features bar modern day product signs and some historic Auburn pictures. The kitchen is easily viewed as you walk in the door. The place is rather comfortable and inviting. The staff here is welcoming and friendly. Mimi's service may not be the most attentive when the bar is busy - just be aware. The menu is pretty simple and moderately priced. They have the typical bar food with a few add-ons that give them a little boarder touch including non-bar food daily specials. I can't speak for bar service. It seems like they hustle the best they can. Food tends to come out at a decent pace - depending on the crowd. Mimi's is definitely a no-frills kind of place as the non-alcohol drinks are served in a Toby Keith style red Solo cup. Now onto the food. We started with the sweet potato fries. The fries are thin and fried to a moderate crisp - like you would expect, not mushy. The fry has a nice bold sweet potato taste. They aren't very oily. The real treat is the homemade Hawaiian pineapple dipping sauce. It is smooth, thick and sweet. You literally can taste the refreshing Hawaiian flavors which really bring out the bolder sweet potato taste. Definitely a must try! The blacken chicken Caesar wrap is very tasty. The chicken is very moist and nicely grilled. The mild tasting Caesar dressing is applied in moderation and helps pull all the flavors together. Note: this $8 item doesn't come with a side, that is extra. The Cole slaw is homemade and outstanding. It includes white and purple cabbage. Onions, carrots and red peppers are apart of this fresh tasting side. The Cole slaw is mayo based. However, the mayo is very lightly applied and it has a hint of vinegar flavoring - the best of both style Cole slaws. The fish dinner has seven medium pieces for $14.99. It comes with French fries and one side. The French fries were a lot like the sweet potato fries in terms of cut, firmness and oiliness - fairly good. The fish pieces tasted fresh-ish. No fishy or frozen tastes. The meat was soft, tender and slightly flaky. The breading is rather thin. It is also rather plain to taste - unlike a Fish of Stroh type fillet. The tarter sauce has a heavier mayo taste with a mild amount of pickle/tartar flavoring. It definitely isn't sweet or heavier on relish like I like it. Overall...Mimi's makes a good place to pick up a meal regardless of the time of year. Give them a try sometime when you are in Auburn.

Our server was friendly and took our orders promptly. My husband had the grilled chicken sandwich, I ordered the breaded tenderloin, and we shared fries. The sandwiches were good, but the fries were a bit disappointing--very small portion for nearly $5 extra. They were thin, McDonald's-style fries. The bar wasn't busy during our visit, with only a couple tables occupied at a time. Staff seemed to know most guests personally, greeting them with hugs. The music was loud, which may be fun for some, but felt a little overwhelming to us. The biggest issue was the restrooms, which had a very strong odor that made the experience unpleasant. Overall, the food itself was decent, but the portion sizes, loud atmosphere, and restroom cleanliness kept it from being a great visit.

There isn't adequate signage to tell you where to go. Do I go into the bar? Downstairs? Or back outside and around back. This makes things a bit unwelcoming. However, the bar staff acted excited to see us to directed us to self seat. Our waitress was nice. She was friendly and hustled. She didn't know her menu very well and was confused at several of the menu items. She was engaging and did her best to make us feel comfortable. We started with the Ricotta Bites. The breading was very crisp and over fried. It was almost impossible to cut the small ball in half. The filling was very creamy and had a mild ricotta taste. Not much flavor beyond that. The marinara sauce really had to provide any spicy flavor. My wife really liked her flatbread. I had the Cod Bites and tots. The cod bites were also over fried and difficult to cut. The cod was fresh and tasty. It flaked apart once you broke through the crust. The tarter sauce wasn't very distinctive. It was mayo based with relish and some mild spices. The tarter sauce was just kind of there...it didn't do much for the fish. The tots were also over fried, very crispy and oily tasting. I ordered a side of Cole slaw because I love salads. The Cole slaw is mayo based. While the slaw was fresh and crispy. The mayo dominated the taste. The pepper was a good accent but couldn't do anything with the over powering mayo taste. I personally wouldn't recommend it. The Smoke on the Water cocktail was outstanding! The drink had a very strong Smokey taste. The tall pink drink is very attractive...especially with two raspberries on a stick. The beverage was refreshing and a bit spicy to taste. Overall..a very innovative drink!!

Laker's Landing was formerly Laker's Food & Spirits. I no reference to the former owners…read more Laker's is a moderately small restaurant tucked behind several buildings on the Main Street. I didn't see any signage on the main road or on the street where you turn. There isn't any good signage that helps you definitely know that you have arrived at Laker's. Once you get there you will scramble to find a parking spot on a busy night. Again the signage for where it is okay to park is not good as well. Laker's is set right on the lake. The deck only sets three tables. The view is great. However you better make a reservation if you want to secure an outdoor seat. Once inside....the view of the lake isn't bad. There are lots of windows to share the view with those outside. The interior of the restaurant is broken up into three areas - east & west dinning and a bar. All areas have an attractive multi-colored wood walls. This is complimented by the wood floors and dark furniture. The interior is welcoming and comfortable. The bar is very attractive. The east dinning room is VERY LOUD for some reason. The west side was much quieter. The staff we encountered were very friendly. The hostess doubles as a bus person so we had to wait to find out what happens after you arrive - again "hostess will seat up" sign. I was surprised that half of the staff didn't wear shirts with the Laker's logo. Our waitress Katie was excellent. She knew her menu well and had several spot on recommendations. She was concerned about our dinning experience and advised us that a large party was coming so she wanted to make sure we got our orders in ahead of them. Katie was right on top of the refills as well. We ordered the jalapeño crab filled wontons to start. The jalapeño wonton was not hot or over spicy. The filling was creamery with a slight crab taste. The wontons were a bit crispy. Overall a nice appetizer but no rememberable flavors here. My side salad was very good. The salad was a nice size presented in a fashionable bowl. The Ingredients were very fresh. The right amount cheese mixed well with the homemade honey mustard dressing. The dressing had a slightly sweet flavor with a creamy smooth consistency. The taste mirrored a high quality store bought dressing. My wife had the Cobb salad. Again the salad was a nice size with plenty of fresh veggies and lettuce. The homemade raspberry vinaigrette dressing was outstanding. The dressing was slightly sweet with small pieces of raspberries in the sauce. Overall the salad was very good. For dinner I ordered the breasted chicken and Mac & Cheese. The Mac & cheese was a bit dry. You kind of expect a creamy oozing sauce on elbow noodles. The noodles were perfectly cooked. The cheese was thin and stuck to the noodle with a darker color (looked like well baked on but not overly baked). The chicken was outstanding. The breading was thin and slightly crispy. It did hold a bit more grease flavor than you might like. However the breading was simply delicious! The chicken was extraordinarily moist. It could be easily cut with a fork. Overall Laker's Landing does a pretty good job with dinner. The cocktails, which we didn't have, looked very attractive and tempting. You will find the prices to be very fair and a moderately sized menu. Give them a try!
