Haven't tried this place in a long time but decided to give it a try yesterday. Now I remember why I stopped going here. I placed an online order thinking I could go in and pick it up or they would have curbside delivery like every other restaurant. Nope! The building was locked down because they are remodeling the entire dining area and they do not have curbside pickups. Even though I placed my order online I had to sit in a very long line at the drive through and waited for 30 minutes while they prepared everyone ahead of me order. If I had not ordered and paid online I would have left without my food. When I did get my food it was cold and awful! Will never go back to Firebox!!!! read more

The young lady running the front cash register on Friday 01/08/2022 at lunchtime seemed to be a miserable soul. While not downright rude (other than not making any attempt to reply to a "hello" or "how's your day?) she looks like she absolutely hates her job and anyone she has to wait on. Competition for customers is fierce these days... if she is incapable of doing any better she needs to go find some other line of work and get some sort of training. Every job has customers, whether you're a doctor, lawyer, etc. How you treat them in one line of work is probably how you'll treat them in all lines of work. read more

I have been a LONG time customer of Glen Gene Deli (all the way back to when there was one in CLEVELAND, TN) I have been going to to the Firebox Grill on Shallowford road for years now, and I hate to officially say that my last time going was today. I ordered a house salad, and it is absolutely rotten. Brown lettuce is ALL that was in the box. There was no cheese or tortilla strips, either. I placed a to go order and unfortunately did not make this discovery until I got all the way back home. The lettuce is so rotten that I cannot even eat the salad. 5.50 pretax for a box of rotten lettuce just doesn't cut it for me. I hate this for the owner, because I know this wasn't his intention, obviously. Seems like the staff just doesn't understand that u don't serve rotten food. The name brings into question what exactly happens inside...so we decided to find out. As with our last review (of Wendy's) our journey began walking through not one, but two doors. Vestibuled again. We finally recognized the potential for the benefit of this set up in the event Firebox converts to a butterfly conservatory. Upon reaching the counter we were greeted by a very helpful young lady who made the order process quite easy by only asking us questions requiring answers in the affirmative or negative. A peanut butter milkshake was the first item ordered by my rather excited co-reviewer. We added a philly cheese steak, cheeseburger and the hitherto undiscovered "Frings"; we don't want to ruin the suspense. The ambiance was strong...a word overused during the experience though we are not sure why. Clean, well decorated, comfortable. We sat in a booth separated from the other side of the restaurant by a small glass wall, more on that in a minute. Our pager buzzed and we reported to the front counter to retrieve our order. A large, clean and well stocked "toppings" bar was available and, of course, we took advantage of maximizing our free pickles. Despite the gentleman sitting on the other side of the wall having contracted black lung (we do not believe he did so at the restaurant) we rather enjoyed the meal. Philly cheese steak being ubiquitous I was concerned, but it was above average. Frings provided a nice variety, and my co-writer ate the entire rather large burger, commenting that it was tasty and making no "I hate you for choosing this place" faces. A number of times throughout the meal we expressed our surprise at how good the food was. Bathrooms were immaculate; tables were cleared and cleaned as soon as patrons exited, and employees we encountered were friendly. While the name may be mysterious, the restaurant is a winner. With a menu of casual comfort food, quick service and a reasonable price, FireBox is a winner. read more

This place has great food especially for vegetarians or vegans. Try the firebox with the veggie burger instead of chicken.

Was very surprised by the quality of the beef and all of the burger toppings. You top it yourself so you can visually see that everything is fresh and clean. It is worth the price. I hope they end up having one closer to where I live! read more

Was a good meal. I had the Steak Burger and fries and the wife had a smaller burger and fries. She also ordered the 3 bean soup which was really a taco soup but she said it was a really great soup. I have no complaints about our meal. The restaurant was very clean including the restrooms. The only thing I would ask of them is to change the French fries to crinkle fries. I use to eat at Glen Genes every time I come to Chattanooga so I was a little disappointed to see it changed to Firebox Grill. I have always loved that you can add your on condiments when you eat inside. I was glad to see it has not changed that option. I was a bit hesitant to return since the change but decided to jump in feet first. I ordered a regular hamburger and side of fries. It was not worth the money in my opinion. The burger was bland, meat and bread. It had no flavor whatsoever. Didn't taste like anything! It is a pretty good size burger but by the time I ate a few bites, it was a soggy mess. The fries were just....basic. Blah! Maybe I romanced my previous love affair with Glen Genes and maybe it has always been this bland. Maybe I was able to step outside my Glen Genes haze when they changed to Firebox and see it for what it really was - crap. I'm sorry I wasted my calories on this. Second visit here in 12 mos. consistent from first visit. Double burger patties not pretty, but tasty. Nice bun, not overdone for a fast food burger. Cajun fries are nice size, good amount of seasoning, plentiful and stayed warm almost through full meal. A little more costly than a BigMac, but priced right for better quality food and environment. Pickles off the self serve condiment bar are pretty good! Crunch and no mush! Wire Baskets are hard to eat burger from so I place the burger's paper on the serving tray. read more

Firebox Grill is my favorite fast food restaurant in Chattanooga. Their entire menu is unbeatable. I have never ordered something there that was anything less than amazing. The standouts here include cheeseburgers (any of them), onion rings, and strawberry milkshakes. read more

I live in Atlanta and was traveling home and decided to stop here for dinner. I never heard of the place but it looked interesting. My wife and I went thru the drive-thru and I ordered the club burger. You need to order any sides separately. I ordered some fries and found there were a ton. They could have used a little more salt but overall they were pretty good. A nice, thick fry. The burger was fantastic. It was well seasoned, perfectly cooked and had two or three thick slices of bacon. My wife had the mushroom burger and said hers was excellent also. The prices are reasonable for the quality. I paid $9 for a burger (with bacon and cheese) and fries, but it was restaurant quality; this is no fast food burger. They also clearly make them when you order them as it took about 7 minutes in the drive-thru. Maybe they're faster at lunch but I wouldn't suggest this place if you're in a rush. I reallly was pleased and the next time I'm heading up I-75 I'll be sure to stop back by. read more

Gave this place a second try only because my coworker insisted on going there even though I tried my best to dissuade them. We loved Glen Gene and I wish this place had kept their menu. I miss the Ruben. The fries were not greasy, but they were only warm and limp. The burger was larger and you could add your own toppings. It cost us almost $19 for 2 meals. Nothing special for the price. The service was fast but the fries could have cooked longer. We probably won't be visiting this place again. If I could write this with negative stars I would. I just got off a heated phone call with the "owner". My food was disgusting, I couldn't even eat it, and it was made incorrectly. I called and asked to speak with the manager and shared with him this news. He was so condescending I am at a loss for words right now. I have never been so disrespected. I told him when he kept correcting me "what is the fucking difference" and all of sudden I was "cussing him out" and he told me I need a father figure. I cannot even with this guy. Having eaten there several times over the previous year I decided to take one of my kids there when we were in Chattanooga for a lacrosse tournament. We both ordered burgers, fries, drinks and shakes....we were not disappointed in the speed of the order nor the taste of the food. In fact I wish we had a Firebox in the Birmingham area as it would be a great addition to the fast food restaurants we have now. The way the burgers are made remind me of an old school diner burger and honestly beats anything done by the other types like Johnny Rockets, etc... they are thick and juicy with all sorts of combinations of flavors from spicy with jalapeños to BBQ and onions. Just an overall good burger. They're grilled chicken sandwiches are just as good as the burgers but have loads of flavor combinations as well. In short it's hard to get a bad tasting meal there but sometimes the service is a little lacking which is why I go 4 stats instead of 5. read more

As me and my fiancé were driving down from Wisconsin, a 10hr drive, and hadn't eaten all day, we were recommended to eat here as it was fairly close to our hotel. WE'LL NEVER EAT HERE AGAIN! Due to being given mildly warm onion rings and fries, as well as our entree, which was all completely cold within a the time span of us getting our food to getting comfortable in our chairs, readying ourselves to eat. Since changes from Glenn Gene Deli to Firebox, not much has changed but the menu and the price of the food, Still nasty facilities and prices as high or higher than J. Alexanders across the interstate. It is fast like it should be if you have a drive thru but not a good value for your money. I am not cheep but do expect a good value if from Waffle House to Ruth Chris. I have been three (3) times since they changed the Image to the "Firebox" name but they always get my order wrong and after three consecutive strikes, like with baseball, they are out and now off my list!!!! I came through the drive thru last night while my husband was at a doctors appointment close by. We ordered food for 4 people WITHOUT drinks, and the total was $39.88!!!! The guy who took our order was very friendly, but it took forever to get our food. My daughters and I started to eat while we were on our way back to pick up my husband from his appointment. My daughters started talking about how the fries weren't good (and were cold), then about how the burger and chicken fingers weren't good. We arrived to pick up my husband and he got into the car (not knowing anything about how nobody thought the food was good). He took a bite of his onion rings and burger and asked me where I got the food. I told him and he said that he thought it came from a convenience store. I decided to pull over and try my philly. It tasted like they took beef lunch meat and soaked it in beer and put it on a piece of bread with cheese. It literally made me gag. We are usually a "people can have off days, so always try something twice", but we decided this was just too awful. My husband called (we were already almost back home in Georgia). The guy on the phone said that he would take a message and leave it for the owner. He never mentioned bringing the food back, but asked for us to bring the receipt in today for a refund. Fast forward to today. My husband takes the receipt in. The owner was completely rude and hateful, as was the cashier working (she rolled her eyes at my husband!) The owner refused to refund our purchase and told us to just dispute the charge with our card company. He took our receipt and refused to give it back. He also threatened my husband and told him he would call the police if he called or came in again!! My husband was not being rude or threatening at all towards him. All he wanted was for them to make it right for $40 of food that was completely inedible. We would have gotten better food at Sonic down the road for a fraction of the price-- actually edible-- and MUCH better service! Please do not come here!!! read more
