There were 2 parts to the Basic Pistol Safety Course. There was classroom time and range time. David and Joey was very thorough with the information that they taught during the classroom time. They did so good that it made everyone feel confident that they can pass the test at the end of the classroom time and everyone did pass! David and Joey was also very good instructors during the range time. We were able to shoot at different distances. During the shooting, we were able to pick and choose which pistol we want to shoot. I was very pleased that they had a Glock 19 because that is the pistol that I'm looking to get in the future and was glad that I was able to get a feel for it. I must say that I'm glad we did, and these guys are great! We just finished the basic handgun safety course, and it was excellent! They covered all the basics of loading and operating firearms, safety, and laws. The classroom time is very informative, and the range time is great. We got to practice with a bunch of different firearms ranging from .22 to .45, and a bunch in between. The NRA certified instructors are very friendly, helpful, and know their stuff, You can tell that they love and believe in what they're doing. HDF is also working to help maintain and improve ownership and usage rights in Hawaii, and as an organization they have range days where the whole group will gather and enjoy some private range time. With completion of the course you're not only given your affidavit certifying completion of the course, but you become an HDF member for the year. I'm looking forward to taking full advantage of this membership, and see what else HDF has to offer!

We showed up on this range, got our safety brief and were clear to for at max 20 mins as oppossed to waiting for 4 hours at other ranges. The terrain on the ranges is pretty smooth with few big rocks or pebbles so there's not much of a risk of injury if there's a need to run down the ranges. In general it looks really well maintained as far as all of the appliances, shooting tables, sitting benches, and target stands. This range can accommodate 80 shooters, two at each table. Much better, convenient and safer than the overseas ranges.

Some places make you feel like you don't belong if you ask questions. That's not the case here at all. I walked in with no experience, and they took the time to help me understand everything. I left not only with the right parts and modifications for my AR-15, but they even installed everything for me. Since then, I haven't gone anywhere else. Their knowledge, professionalism, and willingness to help are unmatched. I also purchased an FCU for my SIG P320 from them they were the only shop on the island that had one, and they priced it fairly without trying to overcharge. I've bought hundreds of rounds of ammo from them as well, always at great prices--some of the best I've seen on the island. Most recently, I purchased a CZ Shadow 2 Compact, and it arrived on island in just two days. What really sets them apart is how well they educate their customers.
