I'm learning a martial art that is both beautiful and lethal and has improved my health in terms of durability and longevity. I got t-boned 3 years ago at a high rate of speed, not survivable by some. The controlled impact from our classes prepared my body to withstand the trauma. And when I was most consistent with their training, my pulse rate got down to 47 bpm. At 65 years old now they accept my limitations while encouraging my progress. They attract awesome students too!

It's almost been two years since going to my first class at Muay Boran Hawaii and it has nothing but positive for me. I've learned so much about the art of Muay Thai and about myself. Since joining back in 2022 I've lost about 18 pounds and myself confidence has grown a lot. So far my experience has been amazing! Kru Dan and Coach Chad give each and every student in the class attention and showing all of us the right and correct technique. The best part is Kru Dan and Coach Chad are always willing to give the extra time and effort for everyone before and after class to work on technique or just talk about the art of Muay Thai.

This was my first ever barre class I've taken, and wow - what a workout. I'm three months postpartum, and the classes offered provide the perfect workout and challenge for me, as modifications are also provided. The studio is clean and inviting. Not only did the workout catch my eye after several classes, but the owner Melissa is extremely welcoming and knowledgeable to barre. I appreciate how all the instructors at Sweat + Soul are friendly and encouraging. The instructors help guide you throughout class and make friendly corrections to optimize your positions so you can get the best workout possible. Highly recommended this studio to everyone!

It is a total body workout which includes brief stretching before transitioning to the next muscle group. I love how Sweat+Soul barre really targets the smaller muscles to help me feel strong and toned. I can attest that the workouts WILL stay challenging, even after working out here several times per week for years. Instead of getting "easier" with time, your form will slowly improve (which I think also helps to improve your posture!). If it's starting to feel easy, you're not properly engaging your muscles :) The teachers and the owner are all so friendly and know how to kick your ass in the best way. I also love how CLEAN it feels in the studio. Pretty much all other fitness studios I've tried out feel noticeably grosser compared to here. (I can understand that it's also probably due to the nature of the workout for other studios though.) The studio recently moved to Ward Village Center (Genki sushi, Kids City, etc.), on the side of the structure where Roger Dunn Golf is located. This new location doesn't have a water refill station yet, so be sure to fill up your flask before heading here.

Everyone was extremely welcoming. The level of Jiu-jitsu was very high and although everyone was going after it, there was no one trying to hurt anyone or any big egos. I joined about two years ago for kickboxing (PJ, Chris, and Justin are incredible), but really appreciated that the membership allows you to divide up your classes however you like. I ended up taking up jiu jitsu and recently started kali escrima with Ian - my only regret is that I didn't start sooner. Marital arts is such a humbling experience, and walking into a new gym can be so intimidating. O2 is perfect for every experience level from the individual who has only seen action movies to the high level grappler and those who spar regularly. As a whole, they call it the O2 fam and it truly feels like it! The gym is actually owned by Mike and Chris, two brothers, who truly give it a family feel. They, and all the coaches, are amazing at what they do and lead their classes with expertise and a lot of humor. And as another reviewer mentioned, this is definitely somewhere where you have to check your ego at the door because it's a fam and we have to take care of each other. O2 is on the second floor above Goodwill along Kamehameha. There's plenty of parking and the lot entrance is on Hekaha. During the pandemic they kept the gym open and prioritized membership safety with online classes then grappling with dummies and working in pods. They offer times throughout the day and on weekends. The schedule is a little modified because of COVID but definitely check them out!

People don't go full force to knock you out so don't be scared. All I can say is don't quit and stick in there if you want to learn; your body just needs time to adjust. Everyone is cool and goes to local mma events together, just like one big family. Most martial arts places don't give out prices on their websites, but I can assure you HMC has some really good ones. As for the cost, Leandro's BJJ is $70 I think and around $95 for monthly classes at HMC. If you are a student it's $80 which is what I pay monthly. There is a $50 initiation fee (every mma place has this). Drop in fee is $20 I think. It's a good deal compared to other places if you ask me; training on the mainland ranges from $100-$210 monthly. You can pay by cash, check, or monthly bank deposit. No BS contracts. The no gi BJJ comes with the price so you can learn grappling in addition to kickboxing if you want to do mma. I know some people who've just done this and have been successful in the ring. I prefer more instruction so I take gi jiujitsu. The schedule on the website hasn't been updated so check my picture for an updated version. HMC also has a branch in Kaimuki operated by Chris on Sunday only which you can pay a drop in fee if you're signed up with HMC Kalihi. They have grappling and kickboxing classes. There is also a Branch in Wahiawa operated by Haru that meets MWF at noon and evening and has Leandro Nyza BJJ on Tues/Thurs. They teach boxing, kickboxing/muaythai, and mma classes. Haru is also a native Japanese speaker and frequently has students from Japan coming down to learn from him. People are still signing up even though the new UFC BJ Penn Gym opened! The UFC Gym might offer all the mma classes you will need, but I still come here because the boxing/kickboxing instruction is more advanced for my level and the quality of training partners and instructors are much better, taking my game to the next level.
