    Kids Intermediate class
    Dijonne M.

Came on a Friday and our daughter did the kids intermediate class. Sensei Taylor and Cory were welcoming and took the time to talk and get to know us. Sensei Joel and the others helping to teach were awesome with providing instruction and extremely patient with correcting the kids. The gym environment is laid-back but still also very structured. Location is easy to find and plenty street parking. We'll be back for more judo training and I plan to do the jiu jitsu classes too. So grateful to find this gym!

My niece just started Judo 2 months ago, and she absolutely loves it! Would have been great if she started when she was four(she's 8), as they have classes for that age. All of the instructors there are so kind and helpful informative. My brother also trains Jiu-Jitsu there, the instructors are so knowledgeable.

So happy to have been recommended this place for my daughter! We were given a complimentary first practice which helped my daughter learn what she would be doing in her tiny tots class. The instructors are all very good! This really has helped my daughter to strengthen not only her little toddler body but her focus and discipline. She loves learning new exercises and seeing how far she can push herself. The senseis are all knowledgeable and very helpful to get kids to pay attention and do a workout correct/safe. Definitely see my daughter sticking with this academy for her future! Thank you Hawaii Judo and the amazing staff!

We looked around for a bit before deciding on Hawaii Judo Academy. Taylor, Joel and the whole crew are just wonderful with the kids. My two boys (8 and 9) look forward to their Judo classes!! They went 3 days a week/ one hour sessions. Super clean Dojo and adheres to CoViD guidelines. Very reasonably priced, with quality instruction time. I noticed a boost in their self-esteem after starting Judo Thank you Hawaii Judo Academy!!

You want to learn from the best? This is the place to be. Great facility. Plenty of space. Awesome coaching. Parking is tough during business hours, be careful police came around a couple times to ticket some illegal parking. Such a welcoming environment and coach. I highly recommend.

I joined about two years ago for kickboxing (PJ, Chris, and Justin are incredible), but really appreciated that the membership allows you to divide up your classes however you like. I ended up taking up jiu jitsu and recently started kali escrima with Ian - my only regret is that I didn't start sooner. Marital arts is such a humbling experience, and walking into a new gym can be so intimidating. O2 is perfect for every experience level from the individual who has only seen action movies to the high level grappler and those who spar regularly. As a whole, they call it the O2 fam and it truly feels like it! The gym is actually owned by Mike and Chris, two brothers, who truly give it a family feel. They, and all the coaches, are amazing at what they do and lead their classes with expertise and a lot of humor. And as another reviewer mentioned, this is definitely somewhere where you have to check your ego at the door because it's a fam and we have to take care of each other. O2 is on the second floor above Goodwill along Kamehameha. There's plenty of parking and the lot entrance is on Hekaha. During the pandemic they kept the gym open and prioritized membership safety with online classes then grappling with dummies and working in pods. They offer times throughout the day and on weekends. The schedule is a little modified because of COVID but definitely check them out!

Coach Jason, Coach Paul, and Coach Taylor have been outstanding with our three younger sons in the Juniors class. They've shown genuine patience, guidance, and consistency that's made a big difference in our kids' confidence and skill. Over the summer, my partner and I started attending the adult Gi and No-Gi classes, and it's been just as rewarding. Having taken Jiu-Jitsu classes at UFC Gym before, I can honestly say Coach Jason's teaching style stands out -- he breaks down the techniques in a way that just clicks and makes sense. If you're looking for a place to really learn Jiu-Jitsu in a supportive, family-like environment, Calabrese Combat Academy is where you want to be.

There are many dojos (schools) of Aikido in Hawaii but Aikido Yuishinkai Honolulu is definitely the best! Sensei Peters and Agena have many years of experience in aikido as well as other martial arts so are able to not only teach one how to use aikido but to ilustrate different methods of defending ones self if needed. Unlike many dojos, the students aren't left to puzzle over why they're doing these odd moves over and over again. Sensei Peters will take out time to show why these exercises are important and how to use them. Weapons training with wooden swords, staffs and knives is also taught both offensive and defensive techniques. I think the one thing that really makes this dojo stand out is they recieve instruction from Master Koretoshi Maruyama, founder of the Aikido Yuishinkai Style and it is passed on to the students. This is a great club for novices or experienced students. Sensei Peters has both a childrens class and an adults class, so age is not a problem. Stop by and check these folks out sometimes!

Pros: It's spacious, everybody is serious at this gym (no chit chatting/on their phone just sitting at the machine), parking is always readily available, they have a WOMEN'S SECTION (this is a huge plus for me!! Although they are not opened 24 hours right now due to COVID, this place is great and I don't have to wait for any machines or weights. I can't wait till the classes open up so I could try it, too. Cons: They need to clean...and I mean clean the dusts on the walls and floors. This is minor and could be resolved quickly but it makes me wonder how often they clean when I see the same dust piles week after week in the same area. The women's restroom smells ALL the time. Not sure if there's a plumbing issue but I gag every time I go into the locker room. There's no WIFI... I was surprised they had no WIFI. Otherwise, great gym!
